ERP - Vox Automaton IS THE BEST!!!!!!!11
For those who haven’t heard the tune yet, I heard Paul DJ this and was never the same again: frustratedfunk.bandcamp.com/track/vox-automaton
I saw the light leave Alex' eyes when Paul said "don't use random generators" ... very fun podcast
😂 We can always agree to disagree - I do agree that given a binary choice, manually created modulation is better, you only have to listen to some aphex acid to hear the proof!!
What a great interview - loved every second of it.
It is so Great to hear someone who knows the real scene from back in the Day. And understands the culture and how it's silly in today's world. I grew up in Manchester in the last 80s and was cool to hear that we played the first house before London. respect as most Southerners don't like to admit it. Nice One.
Ohhhhhh.... This is going to be excellent!
I wish I had the whole run of dinsync modules. I only have the Sara and adore it.
Yeah the Sara is the best VCF in Eurorack! It just sounds so good but it buzzes if you have a crappy power supply.
Now, hearing the interview, I change my mind about DINSYNC, it's very interesting. Definitively passion brings the good gear and the good music. Just do as YOU are convinced to! Love, Respect, to Mylard.
Your description of a love letter to 303 reminded me of Andras - “Harf Green”
Excellent and fun interview! ❤
YES! Paul is a bloody god.
Some of these episodes could really use a bibliography.
Great choice of guest.
down to earth, realtalk! foookn love it
Chiming in to say the Why We Bleep podcast is alive and well! Another great journey with lots of entertaining rabbit holes. A heartfelt thank you for continuing to bring me my favorite podcast.
Now quit being “lazy” and make me a new record, would ya?!.😉
bless ya and thanks - and yes, I need to do that!! I have plans, let’s see if I can enact them
I'm guessing he's talking about "what time is love"? time of love is at 2:25, but I really liked 3:12 of that track
I bloody hope the secret from next year is a Jupiter 4
2-3-4
There’s a few straight up love songs that are also straight up acid. “Electronic Melody” by K’Alexi for 1, anything by Cylob,Kid Spatula has some with love themes
33:47 - Acid love song. That's Dog walking in the Park by Lake Haze if you ask me:

Brilliant podcast!
great tune .
Great podcast, acid is in any blood that’s listened to it
Re: Roland not making old gear - apparently it’s not the done thing in Japanese business to go over old ground, only to move forward. It’s part of the reason that, until recently, there wasn’t really much call for used goods in Japan, hence why loads of it that looks great to western eyes is labelled ‘junk’.
Well if you want to turn your lackluster TB03 into the Aceed machine it wishes it was, you just have to run it through the PRE CR eurorack module from Feedback. This is in my opinion the final circuit of the 303. I know what he means though, after about 20-25mins on the TB03 you just lose interest. I bought a little Korg Monotron Delay around the same time and I'd lose multiple 'analog' hours on just that thing and some headphones. But with that fat analog PRE CR old school (Mackie 1604 mixer channel) clone in the path one can Aceeed riff for days. 🙂🙂🙂😅😆☺😜🥰
What a great bloke, the synth enthusiast/DIY/modular scene is truly the last bastion of good will.
1:11:28 Roland really did "shoot themselves in the foot" by for many years ignoring the demand for a 303, 909, 101. Others stepped up like Adafruit making 303 kits and Dinsync, Avalon, Cyclone Analogic, Future Retro, MAM, Acidlab. At some point Roland lost the passion for synth and lost connection with their rich heritage to make ghost after ghost after digital ghost while simultaneously saying they don't chase ghosts. It really makes no sense to a person like DInsync or to me.
Old man yells at clouds while personifying the kind of people that really put me off any kind of dance music. Enjoy your reminiscences chaps, I'm out.
