  • Mr. San Fou (Fouchiang) Tern, a former Iu Mien SGU (Special Guerrilla Unit) soldier, was recruited to join the army at the age of 13 years old in 1973. After the fall of Laos, he escaped from Laos to Thailand in 1975. He was one of the first Iu Mien SGU members, who started building huts/tents for our Iu Mien leaders (Chaola & Sengfou Saechao) at the Ban Tong Refugee Camp in ChiengKhong, Chiangrai Province, Thailand. His family came to the United States as refugee from Laos in September 1980.
Special thanks to Mr. Fouchiang Tern for sharing his touching life experiences with our global Iu Mien community!
