Appears to have more sympathetic resonance and sustain than most recent keyboards in the last few years. Would be very interesting to compare the Crumar 7 beside the new SV2.. Both keyboards can be tweaked on the fly during a gig.
Accurate acoustic Grand piano and Rhodes sounds with terrific strings. Perfect for film sound track production. Whatever one's level of skill this is a great piano. This Korg is a beautiful winner.
Dang, I just bought KORG D1 few weeks ago and I’m completely in love with it. SV-1 has always been my dream piano but outside my budget, with SV-2 it’s great to know I can now save money for a piano that is not 10 years old
Me too! The keyboard is amazing (the same as in the sv1/2) and in an affordable package. It's the perfect midi keyboard and occasional noodling/practicing piano for me.
@@zsigmondkara Yeah it's really awesome and overlooked keyboard. I really think that it has the best keybed in this price range, if you don't need onboard speakers, it's perfect. I thought I needed speakers when I was selling my old Casio, but I started to appreciate playing with good headphones, it's much easier to hear all nuances of the sound. I'm glad to hear that you like it as well! Anyway, I also have the tiny Yamaha Reface CP which is probably my favourite piece of gear ever and I hooked it via MIDI to the D1. I would argue that the EP sounds I'm getting now are in the same class as Nords, or SV1/2. I'm planning to throw the Reface YC to the mix as well, it also has an amazing organ sims and hardware drawbars. I would argue that this combo overally will give me sound at least as good as some of the most expensive pianos out there and much better flexibility because of the drawbars and awesome effects on the CP, all for less than 1/2 of the SV2's price, sure it's 3 devices vs 1 but still But dang I just love the aesthetics and the vibe of SV series ❤️😢
@@awienc are you able to play the same sounds as presented in this video with the D1? And how do you connect the Reface CP to the D1? I really want a compact keyboard with on board sounds instead of only MIDI possibilities. SV-2 seems fantastic though.
O-M-G!! I had this conversation last month with my local music shop owner on how amazing it would be to bring back the SV. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.
Very excited about this. Looks like Korg addressed some of the memory, somewhat limited voicing, and lack of layering concerns. But no mention if they addressed any of the design or QC issues, mainly with the keyboard. It seemed that there were dying boards possibly associated with vertical storage of the SV. Luke, please speak about if Korg looked into, located and redesigned the SV in any way to eliminate any concerns with potential buyers. But to repeat, I am very happy Korg has stuck with this lust-worthy keyboard. Thanks. Now, if Yamaha would show some attention to their underlooked and (to me) underappreciated Reface line which could benefit a V2. Nothing a take-anywhere little board with great sounds.
I'm a studio guy really but Luke as usual makes you want the product by the way he demonstrates it I'd consider one of these if i had the space for it, excellent demo.
Korg have completely nailed the Fender Rhodes Electric Piano Sound. I had my Kross 2 on top of a Rhodes through the same amp and could play one and then the other without being able to tell any real difference between the two except the real Rhodes was bassier at the bottom end bass notes in the first two octaves.
Beautiful playing Luke, and beautiful sounds! I think I could see myself with one of these. The SV-1 was a disappointment but this addresses many of my concerns/complaints!
T'would be nice if they could build a "stage piano" in the old-fashioned way, with a flat top that you can stack a keyboard synth on. Obviously the speakers screw that idea up...
Luke, before the only splits/layers you could do were predetermined at the Korg factory. Now users can finally make their own in the software. (On board would be better but happy to see you can at least adjust levels live.) This is a huge selling point, so don't downplay it!
The only thing (so far) that I'm not sold on is that you need to press and HOLD the 3 EQ buttons on the left in order to mute or unmute a layered patch. In a performance scenario, we often need changes on the fly. I think we can do without the HOLD. Just press and go would be a lot more practical.
Dude this guy's playing alone sold me on this fucking thing. When he put the phaser on the Rhodes and played Babylon Sisters BETTER THAN THE RECORDING I was sold
Got the SV-1 73 as my live instrument. Absolutely LOVE it! Fun, Soulful and great to play!!! In this NORD dominated world I think the SV-2 will give it a good run for its money..... BUT!!! The one gripe I have about my SV-1 is that I have no pitch-bend if I'm willing with a flag or other solo instrument. Pisses me off big time! Now I see the SV-2 DOESNT HAVE ONE EITHER!?!
Great demo!. He´s not trying to kill you/quit music with bla bla bla. Well chosen music for each instrument. You get a good understanding of the functions. Not to long demo either. This guy is great!.
SOLD!!!!!! I've been waiting for this since i bought my first SV1. But, they really need to bring back the red finish! Edit: Why the orchestral sounds? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the Stage Vintage series? Why not more vintage and rare vintage keyboards to fill in that memory? The SV3 will probably have a touch screen, faders, and a 32 track sequencer. ugh. LOL. can't wait to demo
@@Fireblaze15 I get it, and I'm no authority but the novelty of pizzicato strings, glockenspiel, and orchestral horns with some timpani layered in aren't exactly what everyone's usually waiting for on their favorite dedicated VINTAGE emulations STAGE PIANO.I'd take a virginal, clavichord, and forte pianos for some interesting effects if we're going that route, though. Well done Korg, again. This and the Wavestate are great additions already this year. SV2 upgrades are all really useful, I’d just like to stick with the old power switch 😉
I've almost purchased one of these a few years back. Unfortunately the core piano sounds were awful so I never picked one up. The e-pianos were always terrific. I might have to try one of these out and reconsider purchasing one. I like the white color but wonder if KORG plans on releasing another "special edition" with reverse color keys? That would be awesome!
Why oh why the RH3 action again?. Some things already missing. 1- Pitch and mod wheels. 2- Split and layers FROM THE KEYBOARD in real time, not from the editor only. 3- Replaceable sound library. 4- More favourites presets. There's a tough competition at this point, and other than nostalgia, I don't know how the SV2 can outperform current products by Nord, Yamaha or Dexibell.
Besides being a great demo (player kicks ass), seems this is going to give the Nord a run for its money. Wonder if there are rotary organ sounds that can compete with Nord's easy drawbar layout.
I know this is nit picky but I always wished the top of this was flat so you could set another keyboard like a Micro KORG or a pedal on top...just like people did in the 70s with their whirlys and rhodes and arp omnis

For real
Luke is by far the best presenter for Korg. Seems like a nice chap as well! 👍🏻
Rich was also good
Love the music choices for this demo! What a breath of fresh air, a demonstrator who really loves music!
One of the best keyboard demos in years. Outstanding work Luke Edwards! If only more presenters could play as well as you.
I loved the sv- 1 so this is really exciting.
I was sold at the Simpsons theme tune 🤣🤣
crazypetrolhead yooooo me too 😂!
2:44 Steely Dan - Babylon Sister
thank you for that !

Well technically Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations but still ace :)
He only has one demo.
I can't believe how good the sounds are! Love that you can mix 3 sounds. This will be my next keyboard.
Luke's playing is magnificent here. Sounds great.

It's never too late to learn
As ABHD above states, start now. Get some basic lessons (at a minimum) to learn good basic technique and Practice. That's it!

Awesome update to a cool product. Very good idea to have a version with speakers for practice or small gigs.

Not available in Canada yet. But, I have one on preorder. Very excited!!!

Very nice. Can I borrow one permanently? Still learning a bit and that’s a sweet bit of kit. I wish.
Reference to David Foster's Symphony Sessions album. A rarity. Excellent work!
Great reveal: I want one !!

How does the weight compare to the SV-1?
