This was a fun video! I don't have any artists to buy for but I wish every artist friend would watch this. Another gift idea that I actually got last year, and loved, was an art supply subscription box.
The love in your voice is soooo clear and it helps me to be inspired doing my arts. You're criminally underrated. I love your arts, your videos and ever thankful for your wisdom. Thank you!!!!!
I love these ideas! You really thought of a lot of things outside the box. Also, one of my FAVORITE things is a hoodie and fuzzy socks lol. Also cash is great, and better than getting things you already have or don't really like. It still shows you care.
Great ideas! I wish my friends picked up on some of these gift ideas. They always buy me booze even though I don't drink. I'd much rather receive an art book or some new art supplies. Thanks for the art book ideas, I have yet to check those out. I might just buy them for myself for Christmas. :) Love the artwork you are working on in the background.
You’re so welcome!! I took my satchel to a kid’s camp I volunteered at last weekend, and it was able to withstand the devastation of a very messy (and sticky 😅) cocoa spill. Which is basically the same as an apocalypse… 🤣
This was great! Super helpful tips. I love the idea of a cosy kit, and mentioning money or a gift card for a gift was nice too! People underestimate how much those can mean to people too! Something that I like to do, if I know the person well, is to get them a gift card to a specific place, so that the recipient HAS to buy something than want, rather than spending the money on something boring that they need, if that makes sense! Also love the illustration!
I absolutely loved all the creative gift ideas you shared! As an artist, I can definitely relate to the struggle of finding the perfect gift for fellow creatives. The cozy kit concept is genius-I'm definitely incorporating that into my gift-giving this year! Also, your painting turned out beautifully; it really captures that warm, cozy vibe. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yayy!! Can't wait for the video on intermediate gouache techniques! Loved all the great ideas - especially the kit of art stuff. So thoughtful! I have a non-gift question - how should I approach learning krita for digital art? I want to treat myself this season so I don't mind buying some courses/books but I don't find many guided tutorials out there.
Really helpful video Alli, such great timing! Also, we had our first snow today so this video was funnily timed for me but made me think of warmer days ❤
Oh, my ears were tickling when you said you would do this video about gouache techniques. I'm trying to learn gouache lately and have quite a hard time since I'm primarily a colour pencil artist. But I really want to learn this medium too. Cleaning the brushes is also something I struggle with. I have my two jars of water and my paper towels but even after intens watering and wiping there is still paint left in the bristles 😅what am I doing wrong?
Just chiming in as a fellow artist - you may be dipping the brush too deeply into the paint, especially if you ever get paint up in the ferrule. Also, a deep cleaning, usually under running water, is needed after each session. I find that gently bouncing the bristles against my hand or the sink helps a lot.
Yayyy, I’m so excited to share that gouache-y video with you soon!! Truthfully, my brushes are almost never fully clean 🙈 I do try to tap the bristles against the bottom of my water jar to “smoosh” out most of the paint, but this can be quite brutal on the bristles 😬

Yessss, art sub boxes are SO fun!! Especially for the artists who LOVE surprises 💛
I second this! Art box subscriptions are so much fun; and a great way to explore new art supplies and techniques without breaking the bank 😆

Gotta start dropping those gift hints to your pals. 😉 I LOVE buying art books as a little gift for myself!! 🤣
Thank you so much for the shout-out, Allison! And yes, we are making bags to survive any impending apocalypse, so we got you covered ;)

So glad you’re excited for it!! 💛 ooo that’s a great question. David Revoy has a lot of great tutorials for using Krita here on TH-cam!!

Ahh thank you so much!! I’m SO not ready for snow yet, but I’m so glad this little piece brought you some warm and cozy vibes! 💛
