Hey bud, hope you are doing well. I got stuck in a bad storm a couple months ago out at Tarpon Key around 7pm. Couldn't make it back to the launch and had to ride it out at the channel edge with lightning and high winds banging all around me. Got back about 9pm. Thought I was going to have to sleep out there. scary stuff
Man.. this reminds me of when I got caught in a storm a few years ago. I was rabbit hunting at least 4 miles away from my house. I was in the middle of an old field kicking at some bushes. A supercell developed a few miles away coming towards me. Then a tree gets hit by lightning a couple hundred yards away on the edge of the field. It knocked me to my ass, I thought I got struck. I got up and just found a low spot in that field and sat for 30 or so minutes. One of the worst storms I’ve been through and I was in an open field.

Tampa has plenty of lightning storms . .I got caught in a couple of them while living there.
