In the 90s there was L!VE TV, in the 2020s there was GB News. Both virtually mirror images of suffering from the same issues... launched too quickly with only just complete studios and little time to rehearse, technical problems and a lack of staff. Plus their respective managers leaving within months of the channels launching.
Janet Street Porter was useless. Red Dwarf writer Doug Naylor remember in 1993 during their sixth series, she was somehow involved in reviewing their scripts. When she saw the Gunmen of the Apocalypse episode, she told them it wouldn't possible to film the outdoor scenes, it would be impossible and they should drop the idea. Doug gleefully told her, they had already filmed all of the outdoor scenes and it is now in the can. Total silence from her and she never bothered them again.
Why the cunting hell would you employ Janet-Street-Porter? Imagine waking up and looking down, seeing that, not to mention the absolute agonising pain you'd be in.
@@andy-clewes She had created and produced some well received "yoof" programs on C4 and BBC. However it was naive and sloppy hiring. The "live" concept was a good idea in theory (in a time before reality tv and the internet), but in practice not a hope in hell.

@Andy Clewes
Was _L!VE TV_ the same Telewest channel that showed live greyhound racing?
17:30 Nick Ferrari looks at his watch. That is the most that he does.

quite liked this channel when it came out.. how did it all end up?
It went from strength to strength and eventually became the sole provider of tv programs in the UK. Today it shows all rugby matches
Two words....topless darts.
