Dave.. brings back our visit to OSE 10 in August 2011 with the gang from Basingstoke. I was so busy taking pix of everything I missed a lot of your talk at the time so this has filled in a lot of gaps !!! Cheers from Tony Crake ex Skelton '62--'66
Great! I listen to the BBC on 13660KHz Woofferton here in southern Brazil. The signal is strong with some fading and audio is a bit distorted, but very good in general.
Great seeing these again I used to work at Marconi New Street 1970-1987. Finished in HP test working on the subs & comms Txs inc the upgrades in late 70s. de G4LDS
You used to get VOA on household appliances, it took years to find a workaround allowing UHF television reception (2km from site). Was good to see the sister station on Sao Tome - better beaches there than Teme's Green.
Ted Randall owner of wtww and the Grand ole opry hotel in Nashville used to be the senior engineer at the bbc transmitter in south africa and had to make his own parts a lot of times and Radio Caroline has the bbc world service london transmitter in Orfordness and is slowly working towards getting it back on the air. they already have radio one formerly on 648 medium wave starting Friday 22/12/17
Dave I hope you will come on Ted's show QSL live over at his home brew station here across the pond qsl live. Love the stories of having to build your own parts when you were both over at the world service London south African Relay. Also Allen has his station booming across the pond and back again. That old Grid plate Continental 500 transmitter along with the Swedish aerial along with that matrix switch that he developed with Barry and Andy. He is running wxme medium wave and wbcq shortwave. If I ever get to the UK we will have to meet for a pint and a chat.
what about the power supply to wooferton . i am thinking when all transmitters are on full output it must need a power station of its own .i thought the video very interesting a friend told me he came to wooferton some while ago are open days still held thanks
Talk to Dave or Andy Madison or even Peter Moore sure they can give you a go around. They all are part of Merlin communications, Cobra Mist limited, and E&E 4 g mobile phone service. AKA Radio Caroline international. They also built operate and maintain the unlicensed pirate DAB and DAB + radio transmitters and networks. They have taken most of the bbc over 1 transmitter at a time. They took back MANX radio when Babcock communications went bankrupt back in the eirly 80's or so.
I'm sorry but this is a frustrating and somewhat amateurish video which is split into far too many parts with an irritating theme tune at the start and end of each part. Why not in just one part? Because your name would not be on screen for so long? It's an interesting set of videos but very, very frustrating to watch.

Hi Steve, it's great to share what happens on a HF site. Keep watching for more instalments.

Thanks Dave. I used to listen to Wooferton frequently. This series is going to be fascinating. Subscribed. 73 de G0MRB.
Very informative
Thank you for the series of videos. All fascinating and a little bit different to the 100W I normally run! 73 de Steve G0KYA

Rubbish, it's just about 2MW or even less
A dedicated power line was built in the 1960s from Ludlow over Tinker's Hill via Ashford Crossroads.
I'd give my back teeth to look round there. Is Woofferton ever open to the public?

know this is a old video, but Ronald Reagan was not President of the US until 1981.
