    for me, as long as i show up to court they will most likely lower your ticket

    • @ve3nsv
      @ve3nsv 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Ontario I'm not sure if they would amend the ticket to reflect the correct limit or throw it out for a fatal flaw? Regardless they'll offer a lesser charge before the trial which is why you're best to choose an early resolution when you respond to the ticket.

      oh they will reduce pretty much any ticket :D

      Yeah, as long as you go in very polite and honest, don't apologize or cry like a child with a skinned knee, they'll just assume you're trying to manipulate them, just own what you did and you'll usually get let off pretty easy, here in Aus they'll usually drop it to a 10 and under which is about the minimum you can get. Same on the side of the road when talking to the officer, be polite and respectful and they'll typically lower the ticket to a minimum or at least a step down from what you'd be looking at.

    In Australia you lose your license for 1 month for 25kmh(16mph) over, 6 months for 35kmh(22mph) over and 12 for 45kmh(28mph) over
    You can also have your vehicle impound for anything over 45kmh

    • @dropkickthunderbook8450
      @dropkickthunderbook8450 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      modedchild Our fines are huge here too, can be over $2000 for over 45kmh plus the cost of your car being towed

      @Rides4444Fun 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      modedchild you can only clear one point every 18 months in ca with TS=traffic school. In my case..... second tic was 17 months after my first tic. N i was not eligible for TS to clear my sec tic. Because of time frame. one point for sec tic now. 20 months later i was caught again. I did TS for that= no point for that. Just the 1 point from my original sec ticket. Now almost 36 months from that sec ticket. N the point about to fall pf record. /// then the cycle starts again.....lmao

      Dropkick ThunderBook Here in finland you pay more the more you make.. Some big guy in Nokia drove 75 km/h in a 50 zone and got 116 THOUSAND euros ticket :D This was like 15 years ago. He had made 83 million on last year and got fined for that. PS: Do not drive fast in finland if you got any money! :D

    Awesome vid. Love hearing other people's court stories. My worst, and pretty much only one was 83 in a 25. (It was late at night, not a good excuse but the roads were empty). Anyways, $1000 fine, 6 months no license, and escaped 3 days in jail by the skin of my teeth. All in all like $4k spent on that ticket! Don't get caught!

    When I was 17 I got a ticket for 109mph in a 65. Luckily my aunt is a lawyer so she put me in touch with one of her friends who was a traffic lawyer. I guess it works a little differently here in MA but if you want to fight the ticket you get a "Court Magistrates Hearing". Basically you show up first thing in the morning sit around for 3 hours until they call your name and then you go into the Magistrates office. Inside is the Magistrate and a representative from the police department. In my case a state officer. After about 5 minutes of me pleading my case, the magistrate lectured me for about 15, then the officer for another 5. After all was said and done the magistrate let me off, I would be given no fine apart from the $50 court fee, no license suspension, or safety course. However, that was only if I my record stayed clean until I was 18, which i'm happy to say it did.

    I second your advice chase. Anytime you can hire a lawyer even for minor infractions it increases your odds of you coming out on top. I've used one on a number of occasions and haven't had a speeding ticket since 2002. Keeps those insurance companies from gouging you on coverage.

    I was pulled over for given a ticket for a 40 in a 25. At which point the cop wrote me a ticket and I called a lawyer and I'm cost $300 and I didn't even have to go to court and it was tossed out due to the radar not being tested. I was not speeding either. The lawyer called me and said things went great and have a great life.

  • @Candesce
    @Candesce 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    $400 for a lawyer? Damn. I wish lawyers in Australia were that cheap. Basically, here in Australia, "minor" infringements like being suspended for half a year are not represented by lawyers in court so you have to hire a full fledged vehicular homicide/drunk driving type lawyer and you'll be expecting to be pay upwards of $10,000 for them to take the case. It's pretty shit.
    If I could have paid $400 for a lawyer I would have been all over that.

    im actually going to court tomorow for reckless racing and speeding. i was paced going 64 in a 45. but racing is the big one and can be punishable up to 1 year in jail in my state. and im only 16 which ruins everything. but this video is helping to cope with some of the stress.

    I had a great experience the first time I used a lawyer for a speeding ticket. The one I choose was actually a Judge from a neighboring court system, got my 90+ in a 65 knocked down to 5-10 over and the fine like chopped in half. I never had to show up for anything and had i not used this person I would have lost my license for a while.

    There was this one time... where this stop sign was invisible and i was driving my car a tiny bit to fast which helped make the stop sign more invisible, and the only other person on the road was an officer of de laaaaaaw. & She got me to pull over for some odd reason, she then gave me this piece of paper saying i had to go hang out with her on a certain day or just give her money.?! I wasn't down for just giving away money. So i went on the date to hang out but i brought back up because i was scared. My back up, was a large black man he sort of looked like 6foot4honda. I felt protected. Needless to say this wasn't an ordinary hang out. It was a big large room with a lot of people wearing suits. I was very confused. I then found my lady friend who invited me to this shin dig. She said she was happy to see me. which confused me more. As time went on i herd my name. An older man called me in front of him. I told him the story of the invisible sign and that i didn't see it. He believed me. He threw out the stop sign ticket.!! SIIIIIK- Then he asked how fast i was going. I had to tell him.. " Mach 1 sir".. [120km in a 60].. He asked why. the only thing i could think of is that my car had to stay over 90 because there was a bomb on board. It worked! He reduced the speeding too. I was so happy that i went to this hang out she invited me too. I wasnt going to go but im sure glad I did. im not sure why or how it all worked out but maybe it was the backup i brought with me. Needless to say, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS go to the hangout even if you are guilty or not. :D

    The last time I had to appear in court was pretty heart pounding, got clocked doing 74 in a 45(it was a backroad with more fields than houses). The cop and the judge both told me I should slow down on that road since it had a few sharp turns, had to stop myself from laughing and saying that it's not that bad when you're used to it.
    The next time I got "pulled over" a couple other cars and I were doing 95-105 down I-15 into Vegas, hid behind some trucks with another one of the cars, the cop pulled in behind me and the other guy. Pulled out my registration, insurance, and license and thought "well I'm fucked this is reckless endangerment" waited and waited until I finally pulled away, cop apparently didn't think a Neon could keep up with a 370Z

    Lawyers are a great thing. Expensive. But great. I had to go to the station because I lost my wallet and someone found it and dropped it off for me, when I opened that door I was scared sh*tless. The officer asked for my full name, birthday, description of the wallet, etc. I couldn't stop stuttering, it was bad. I kept saying, "Um…" "Uh…" "Uhm…" It took me almost 3 tries to finally spit out a sentence that at least had some sort of significance and wasn't me just opening and closing my mouth like a fish.

You can always get a lawyer like Chase if you don't know what to do, but in most cases you can get your fine reduced by just talking with the District Attorney before court starts.

    Just so you know, and this may vary state to state, but my laws dictate a grace period before the speed limit sign. When it's transitioning from a 75 to a 55, you must be going 55 by the time you pass the sign, but the same is true going the opposite way, when transitioning from a 55 to a 75, you can be going 75 by the time you hit the sign and not be charged. Granted, the grace period is only like 250-350 feet, or about 10 seconds.
    Nobody follows this law and it's an easy way for a cop to stop you if they suspect you're a drug dealer. For example, I wear a beanie that's reggae colors, and I was passing a cop into a transitioning speed zone, from 45 to 35. I was used to slowing down as I hit the sign, but the cop stopped me for 10 over, even though I braked to slow down, because he clocked me right before I hit the sign, but he was also close enough to see my hat. I asked him why he stopped me and not the person in front of me, and he said that the person in front of me was an elderly woman and wouldn't have yielded any excess charges. It's more lucrative to the state to stop young, devilish looking persons rather than elderly people.

    Me and a friend was cruising around, ended up going to CycleGear, and then a bunch of bikes flew past us, and basically what happend was the cops rolled into cyclegear and gave everybody on a bike there a ticket for assumption of doimg 150+ in a 55.
    I'm 15, and I have an r6, and my buddy was riding his dads s1000rr and he normally rides a shadow 750. Everyone got revoked licenses, everything was impounded, and my ticket was balls to the fucking wall.
    We took it to court, I had my gopro on just recording for insurance purposes like i always do when i ride, and had EVERYTHING on film. I wish i had my mic setup working because that would be some awesome shit.
    Lets just say i got everything back, and the cops that dropped everyones bikes on the tow truck, was forced to pay for all damages and replace everything that needed to be!
    good day for me!

    I must always run into bro-tier cops. I've never been pulled over on my bike despite going past cops doing 20+ over the limit, and I've only been given 3 tickets in my Jeep, but on each of those I was going 15-20 over and the officer wrote it up as 10 over so there were no points and a lower fine. I usually just get warnings though, one officer even let me off with a warning for 68 in a 45 just because I was honest with him and said I was zoned out and not paying attention which he appreciated.

    Got out of a ticket in Ga, for the reason you stated.
    (cop put the wrong speed limit on ticket he put 55 it was a 65)
    The ticket is a court document, and he falsified a sworn court document.
    And the fact that he tried to argue
    "But he had an unconscious white girl in the passenger seat." (my now ex-wife)
    The judge was all bug eyed and says on the record
    "What The Fuck Is Wrong With You Deputy?!?! Case Dismissed without prejudice."

    You get a ticket you pay it if it's cheap and don't go to court. If you think it's going to be bad you call your lawyer and let him handle and you don't go to court it's that simple! 😎

  • @JPS95gti
    @JPS95gti 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    You got a plea bargain from the DA (district attorney- the rep for the state charging you) the cop as their witness. There are tons of ways to get off traffic tickets but when you can pay a fine and hide from the 'Point System', you usually do. you have 'the right to travel' therefore you weren't violating any 'law', speeding is a traffic code, can't be in court for a code only breaking law. Also the law is written, 'anyone not operating vehicle commercially...... for purpose of commerce isn't operating under the regulations of a drivers license. You're 'traveling' as a sovereign citizen.

    Damn dude I'd have been banging on about profiling, especially considering the fact that there were other cars around you doing the same speed! In the UK it's the lead car that gets the ticket, not one random punter out of the 5 cars following it.

    Going with the flow of traffic supersedes the speed limit. You could have had it thrown out. If you were actually doing the same speed as every one else. Which I doubt.

    wow in Oz Queensland you would have been hit with a $379 fine & minus 4 demerit points.. they give you 12 points and then they deduct the points.. oh and if you challenge it and lose the magistrate adds a zero so its now $3790 + 4 demerit points o.O
    But here is the thing.. Some of the radar guns are dodgy and if you can prove it, you can win :)
