Morphy had an intuitive understanding of the value of initiative. He was AlphaZero before AlphaZero. It is such a shame we don't have more of his incredible games. He was way ahead of his time.
When a top-ranked player is opposed by another good player, the two of them play carefully and conservatively. Lots of dull draws. But when a top-ranked player is opposed by an inferior player, then one sees games like this: spectacular sacrifices with lots of cut and thrust. At such times, one sees just how much better a top-ranked player is.
Although he never became world champian, but Mato I believe that if you study all the games videos that you have made so far, no one can stop you from becoming the next world champian. There is a rumor that Mikhail TAL was once playing with Stockfish,,, TAL sacrificed his queen 👑 and Stockfish resigned...! UNBELIEVABLE
Nowadays king's gambit is STILL played even if it's very rare at very high level. But saying that nobody is playing it nowadays is quite wrong. And btw, what is childish about it ? Can you counter this opening perfectly ?
Morphy is like a boxer who never stops punching, he keeps you under pressure the whole time. Very easy to make mistakes under that pressure.
some people even collect stamps.... a welcoming party for the knight. Laughing and learning with Mato!

Who else wants a game of Mato's???
Adam Abader Mato has showed his games before.
Simon Patterson He only showed like 2???
Adam Abader well that's twice what you asked for here, then. You only mentioned "a game of Mato's"! :-)
Simon Patterson Are you normally a smartass like this???
The best from the best
When Herbert, plays bd7, Morphy misses the same epaulette mate he used in the end... Rf8 Qxf8, Rf8 Rxf8, Qg5#
Why played without knight
Morphy was too strong
Dear Mato,
Greetings,
How to learn from depending to attacking like Tal?
is there any CD available?
Please let me know
Best regards
Narayana
Paul Morphy is probably the greatest of all time.
Nowadays nobody plays that childish King's gambit like Morphy used to play.
Eh, hard to compare times because so many things have changed, but he was definitely the greatest of his era.
"he WAS definitely the greatest of his era" are the clue words, but not the greatest of all times AT ALL.
Nowadays king's gambit is STILL played even if it's very rare at very high level. But saying that nobody is playing it nowadays is quite wrong. And btw, what is childish about it ? Can you counter this opening perfectly ?
Send me a ref of playing King's gambiit on high level for the last 10 years at least. Can you, dude?
What’s the reason why Paul Morphy was playing without a knight on the left side but only on the right?
Jorge Alfonso Stelling weak opponent. gave him head start
Jorge Alfonso Stelling because he was a much stronger player and wanted to give his partner a better chance.
Thanks guys!
This reminds of the time when a 100m sprinter at my school gave me a 30 m head start ....
Paul Morphy played without a night and yet won
Definitely maybe
Morphy the Magician does it again!
Cool
What is this checkmate called?
epaulette mate.
Because it looks like the king is wearing epaulettes on his shoulders.
qe7 draw?
Ah oui , le mat de Paulette ...
😮😮😮
Mato your smile is really so cute
Morphy and tal.
