I love how naturally you cover/transcribe this song. TH-cam is full of inaccurate interpretations, and many good ones lacks the flow that you provide. I have to subscribe :) Great job!
I have been watching this video and taking notes and trying to understand the chords and stuff. Oh god - brutal. And then I go and play the D6 on my piano and , just that chord, and everything is worth it. Thanks John. You are the best.
thank you so much sir, im almost 18 and in love with the music of the 40's 50's 60's and 70's esspesially Elvis and The Beatles and Frank Sinatra i've been watching so many of your videos and there brilliant thank you soo much :) i always wanted to learn the piano for the songs that i sing
Piano John, I love how you can teach me a song in 1 day that will only get better over time the more I play it, You have a bright and cheery, cool, nonchalant way of teaching, its fresh and its awesome. You should be awarded some category on youtube for best musical instructional videos even though there are so many wonderful teachers in many other instruments. You really brighten my day :) If you are ever in Toronto there's a couple pints of beer waiting for you at the piano bar of your choice!
I tried to learn this a couple of years ago but found it too difficult at the time. It was much easier this time round. Thanks a lot for all your hard work making these tutorials!
Hello PianoJohn. I've just retired from working and I've always dreamed of learnig how to play basic piano. I play the guitar and I wish I could learn the same level of skill with piano, but I haven't found my way yet. Yours Beatles songs are helping me a lot. I wish you could give some ideas for learning piano. Thanks a lot.
John, Thanks for posting this. I always wanted to play piano and your posting of songs like this makes it easier. Your listing of songs are great!! All artists that I like! Thanks again!
Thank you so much John. I have always wanted to learn to play and sing some of these songs. Thank you so much much for taking the time to do this. I really appreciate it.
Thanks so much for this. this is the second beatles song I learned on my keyboard. When I play this at my family reunions and stuff they think I'm awesome at piano, it's such a simple song but so awesome!
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !!!! Mostly for the free sheet music. This helped me a lot! It's so hard to find scores of any Beatles songs on Internet today.
I just got a vinyl magical mystery tour today =) and i really wanted to learn this and i knew you'd probably have it. a beautiful tutorial for a beautiful song
No, unfortunately the sheets were put together by another You Tube user. I'm waiting to see when the new website is up, and when it is, I'll post the link to the sheets.
Lyrics: Day after day, alone on a hill The man with the foolish grin Is keeping perfectly still But nobody wants to know him They can see that he's just a fool And he never gives an answer But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning round Well on the way, head in a cloud The man of a thousand voices Talking perfectly loud But nobody ever hears him Or the sound he appears to make And he never seems to notice But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning round And nobody seems to like him They can tell what he wants to do And he never shows his feelings But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning round Ohh oh-oh-oh-oh ohh-oh-oh Round and round and round and round and round He never listens to them He knows that they're the fool They don't like him The fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning round Ohhhh Round and round and round and round and Ohhhh
Exellent work my friend John, thanks for gives us this beautifull song jeje, well i´ts one of my favorites of the Beatles jeje. Really thanks. But but i have a question Do you know how to play the song :Jealous Guy of John Lennon If yes please post a video about this song! Please my friend and thanks
hm, i have a question...what if i'd like to play the melody instead of singing it? if i play the chords of the right hand on the left, and the melody on the right hand, would it sound OK all the same? (i cant try this yet since i'm in college and the keyboard is at home!)
They certainly are! The first Beatles tune I learned from your tutorials was Martha My Dear a few years back. Are the chord inversions McCartney's or your own? Either way they sound so great.
this may sound wierd but whats the label look like on it is it the apple a capital label with a rainbow or a purple capital. Im a record collector so im just curious lol
Thanks..I learned it. Thank goodness Paul McCartney's songs are easy to play.. For the most part. I've learned a bunch of other tunes off you as well. You have a good way of explaining. Hey, can you teach me the "All in the Family sitcom intro that Archie and Edith sing together.. I would so much appreciated it..
I play the piano by ear and can hear certain nuances that can't be written down. Your tutorials give me a point of reference. I love playing Beatle songs and can usually pick them up without too much trouble. Thank you Piano John for your helpful hints.
Brilliant as ever ! A question if I may though...? How was it possible for a 23 year old to write this plus all his other stuff ( Eleanor Rigby , Penny Lane , Blackbird Abbey Rd Medley etc , etc ) ? I almost do believe there is some kind of Cosmic channellinggoing on there ..? Yes , I know its nuts but it seems inexplicable otherwise ?PS . I am NOT a fruit loop but would appreciate your thoughts ? Thanks again for making his stuff accessible to musical dummies like me.
I wouldn't pretend to know the answer, except to take a guess that if talented people are fortunate enough to pursue their interests the way Paul was, and to have such early success as to fuel his passion even more, then good things will almost always result. If the Beatles had faded into obscurity in 1964 instead of making it big, Paul never would have even attempted to write those songs. Luckily, it all worked out for him and the rest of us!
Hmm. Thanks for taking time to reply .Much appreciated . I'm still inclined to think that , somehow , there is more to it. The Great American Songbook ( 40s and 50s ) contains dozens of classics by writers who wrote a handful (!)...of great unforgettable melodies each .And yet which of them can compare in sheer number and variety with McCartney's ? Its like a quantum leap in that regard . Anyway , its an enigma and we need those . My tea is getting cold .. .thanks again for helping me advance from a 2 finger player to a 4 ! ( 5 on a good day )!
hey john love your lessons. they've helped me alot. When you get the chance It'd be great if you did more post beatles mccartney songs like live and let die, nineteen hundred and eighty five etc. and also all by myself by eric carmen would be a great one too. cheers and keep up the good work!
Such powerful and beautiful chords!! :D Thank you so much!! I love playing this fun song!!!! Now if I can only get the sheet music for the flute accompaniment for my friend and we would be set! :)
This video helped me out a ton except around the part of "...and nobody wants to know him" I'm not sure what part of the chord to keep moving 'cause it doesn't seem to mesh, but otherwise the video is fantastic ! ^_^
i dont really know what you mean by label lol because im just like 15 and dont know much about records but i think your talking about the thing on the record itself? where it has the songs in the middle of the disc lol? it is the green apple thing
Great tutorial for a great song! I know your song request list is temporarly closed, I just wonder if the mighty "Strawberry Fields Forever" is on it... :-) I hope it is. Cheers and once again congratulations for your work!
Downloaded and printed score. Thank you very much pianojohn! Please, listen to Six Oclock by Ringo Starr, composed by McCartney. Please please do that one.
@pianojohn113 mccartney plays only chords and avoids to define the bass notes on that tune - listen to it, the song has no bass notes, (i don´t wanna bewise you, i admire your style, i just see that you are into authenticity when it comes to analysing the song structure!) we all make mistakes do we... btw i discovered a little mistake (you admit it anyway) on the mccartney part in "day in a life", but the comments get blocked there (a day in a life part 2) - why??
hey man i like youre videos the've help me a lot an i like to play some songs of john lenon they're: jealous guy .nobody told me. and mother of john lenon

Me too man. But I can only hear myself play in my left ear 🤔
Same, I've been playing for 15 years and he's taught me most of what I know.
I love how naturally you cover/transcribe this song. TH-cam is full of inaccurate interpretations, and many good ones lacks the flow that you provide. I have to subscribe :) Great job!
I love how you have every Beatles song, thanks a lot!
I have been watching this video and taking notes and trying to understand the chords and stuff. Oh god - brutal. And then I go and play the D6 on my piano and , just that chord, and everything is worth it. Thanks John. You are the best.

Piano John, I love how you can teach me a song in 1 day that will only get better over time the more I play it, You have a bright and cheery, cool, nonchalant way of teaching, its fresh and its awesome. 1 billion thanks to you sir for a fantastic tutorial video.I'm teaching myself piano and this is going to help me out a bunch. Keep doing what you do!

Even though you make a fantastic job

I'll be covering it May 1st and 2nd at a gig.
Thanks!
Very generous of you to provide this...
what model of piano are you playing on this tutorial of Fool on the Hill?
Lyrics:
Day after day, alone on a hill
The man with the foolish grin
Is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round
Well on the way, head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices
Talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round
And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round
Ohh oh-oh-oh-oh ohh-oh-oh
Round and round and round and round and round
He never listens to them
He knows that they're the fool
They don't like him
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round
Ohhhh
Round and round and round and round and
Ohhhh
thanks a lot john. love this song

@pianojohn113 did you receive my message yesterday or is this page blocked too?? getting confused here...

hey john love your lessons. they've helped me alot. When you get the chance It'd be great if you did more post beatles mccartney songs like live and let die, nineteen hundred and eighty five etc. and also all by myself by eric carmen would be a great one too. cheers and keep up the good work!
Staring on the second measure, where the singing begins, the (inverted D6 I think) right hand plays 8th notes, not quarter notes.
Its Actually kind of wierd-- theres a few spots where a stray quarter note replaces 2 eighth notes. While its Still the same note tho
Ok well check it out, and if u prefer quarter notes thats cool too.
@pianojohn113 okay, thanks! i'm at home now and i'm trying this tutorial~ Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Do you know the intro to the Anthology version?
Hey John, I love your tutorials! Very easy to follow along. Could you please do a tutorial for Paul McCartney's "let em' in"?
Thank you so much!!!!

@pianojohn113 mccartney plays only chords and avoids to define the bass notes on that tune - listen to it, the song has no bass notes,
