A sign of a very good video, this applies to YT and cinema, is the ability of the videographer(s) to not only display visual quality but also to be able to show the audience an engaging and coherent story through the use of editing, narration, and content. Your channel is a good example of this.

The “simple life” is not the easy life, tons of work, just living. We took a year off and traveled in our Airstream with the family, great trip but simple things like power and water that we take for granted are challenges living off the grid. Love your videos and wish you the best this winter.

Question: in using pine for kindling of your interior Woodstove or fireplace, how often do you end up having to clean the tars out of the pipes and chimney?
Love the music and susinctness of the video to tell about your process of setting up the wood supply. That's a major accomplishment all to itself!

Hello again from Whidbey Island Washington. You guys put in some hard work this week. I remember growing up in the backwoods of Southern Ohio cutting firewood and hand split shaker shingles on the outside of our home on our 172 acre farm. About 100 acres were forest. We heated our house in Winter from Potbelly Stoves. It was hard work but I never regretted it. Thanks for the great video and the narration from Caroline. Caroline not sure what your future desires are but you could easily have your own show as a narrator. I have always loved listening to shows by Morgan Freeman, David Attenborough, Peter Coyote, James Earl Jones. They can turn movies into fantastic movies. Can't wait for the next one!!

Hey Family 😁- Lando did an excellent job of helping pulling the barge to shore. Boys all worked hard with your wood supplies. Mum cooked a sumptuous meal made my mouth water!! Nothing like soaking the muscles in the hot tub - brilliant idea having that heated by fire! I remember doing a African bush bath by fire in the game reserve - it was just magic - and slept so well. Caroline, I always love hearing your narration and filming 👍Big hugs from NZ 🇳🇿❤️

I was raised living of grid, those were the happiest days of my life. We didn't have electricity, we had to buy water from the town near by and have it bring to our wells, had my dog.we were young but we had to work hard, had to catch our own dinner. That was when life meant something. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Very educational. Love you'll ❤️

This is incredible, mostly because you are living this adventure together as a family! Just wow. One small suggestion. During a store sale, find some proper wood sealant, and apply to the wooden boards on the tug/barge. Not only will it help keep the wood from rotting longer but kwill keep the floor slick. Before staining and sealing you can also try your hand at using a blow torch and torching the outsides of the boards. Scrape with steel wool any loose carbon and seal

For one summer in 1966 I was dropped off at a relatives house err shack in Appalachia. They had one light bulb on the entire farm. They had a milk cow. It took me a while to learn to like fresh cow's milk but at the end of summer I begged my parents to buy a milk cow. City kid....not gonna happen. Sigh.

You can find yourself some old car tires purchase a used garden tiller a bicycle crank or I should say the pedal crank and make a conveyor belt from the old car tires bicycle tire for a pulley garden tiller for drive is that a way you can cut out the middle man throwing the wood from the Lakeshore to the cabin. Just a thought I had. Thank you for the video I enjoyed it

Amazing. I happened upon this video. I quite like it. Every job you represented here I have done plenty of -- except for cooking. You would not enjoy my cooking.
In the service I worked on a big tug. So I was glad to see how you made the boat fast to the barge and moved the firewood that way.
When people ask where you live, I understand if you want to protect your privacy. But a general description would be appreciated. It may be adequate to say Manitoba or Maine. I am always interested in a TH-camr's location and culture. And I try to listen closely to their speech.
I appreciate information. What the difference between pine and hardwood means to you.
I am in the Sierra Nevada mountains in northeastern rural California. When we stack wood cris-cross, as you did, we just say it is log cabin (method.)
It is true that there is more than one type of cord of wood. We use the 4' x 4' x 8' configuration and simply say, a cord. (128 cubic feet.)
I admire your hot tub and the wood water heater.
Are you a family? And do most of you share the same faith? I was quite pleased that you properly uncovered men's heads when praying.
I enjoyed that your music background was mild.
And I SO appreciate that there was no bad language in this video, and no contention amongst you.
    I am subscribing.
    Blessings,
    Michael.

Where is this. Looks like northern Ontario. Looks great and adventurous….but, as a Canadian, I live like that, mits constant work, but work of love, nothing is more relaxing then waking to a beautiful lake view, and watching a sun set. I can drive to my home, but I have 3km of road to maintain and plow in winter. Then fire wood you need to move a million times before it hits your stove, but nothing beats a Woodstove heat. I go hunt moose a few miles from home, pretty handy and fortunate. Then, I am super fortunate, I get to leave my home and venture 4 hours north to our hunting/fishing camp, 70 km(40) mikes, off hwy and no neighbours. Game galore of moose, fish, partridge, ultimate relaxation and as well we relaxin hot tub just like that one and a sauna.

Pete way to overcome the issues with the barge. Lot of the work barges on the lake I live at are pushed with small boats. Carolyn your ability to cook anything on a fire is so amazing! I felt Peter's pain when he dropped his plate. Caroline your ability to catch all these great family scenes is so amazing and the voice over is excellent! Don't forget to get in some of the video yourself for future family to see. Peter rocking the COVID hair again? Really like the Stihl suspenders. Dan great to see ya havening a great time with your older brother and Landon is such a part of the family!!!! Last month in an very unexpected way I had to let my pup go on to a better place. I know he is not in pain but it has been very very difficult. They are truly part of the family. Here is to y'all having a blessed New Year!!!

This has been a wonderful summer watching all the preparations to overwinter. It has taken so much really good organization. I’ve enjoyed this as much as the summer you put on the addition.
The photography is once again outstanding, and the beautiful mellow music so relaxing.
    Beautiful video ❤
Look forward to seeing you New Year🎉

Wow!! Is this the Brown Family on their way to Brown Town with a barge load of firewood for the winter? Haven't seen a new episode of the Brown Family in a long while.

I want to see building things, channeling water to the cabin, solar panels hookup, etc, not cooking or cutting logs, stacking etc

New subscriber. Love this lifestyle. I was raised this same way and even though I am now a suburbanite, my heart still calls out to this. Very nice!

You all have my respect and that’s not easy to earn for me. The work ethic , the maturity of your amazing family and the way you treat each other is something many could learn from. I’m so looking forward to the many videos to come over the winter. I’m in New Brunswick so it’s nice to watch another Canadian family get through the brutal cold Canadian winters. I love you all ❤

I love you guys. I hit the like button 60 seconds into the video because of the camera shots and “vibe” of your cabin life. Have you ever considered adding income by occasionally inviting a newbie overland person, couple or family along for a portion of one of your trips to teach them (hands on) about over-landing and off grid living? That’s something I would definitely consider tossing a few grand at for a week long lesson. 👍 You could vet and choose “winners” based on the nearest major city to where you’re traveling. I don’t know. Just thought I’d send it as something to think about.
Anywho - keep up the awesome work. I always look forward to your videos. God bless! 🙏🏾♥️☺️
