    Great video and explanation, thanks! I never would have thought sheep get a stall in wool growth at lambing. I've been shearing my own sheep for years but finding your videos still teach me these valuable little tips.

    It's absolutely feeaking awful how you shear this sheep. Lifting it, forcing it's neck, putting it on it's back like it shouldn't mind. The point of sheering shouldn't be to just do a quick crappy job. Take pride in that animal and respect it, it's why you have a job at all.

      Hi Stephanie. Thanks for your comment. I believe I shore that sheep, which had a small lamb on it really well. As I said in the video, if you leave the sheep for 6 weeks or so the broken wool on the skin caused by the stress of lambing makes it very difficult to shear. Easy to cut and hard to take all the wool off. If the sheep is easy flowing for shearing then the sheep sits for less then half the time and so won't wriggle as much. It's all about management around shearing to make it easy on sheep and shearer. That's why I recommend at least a 6 week gap between the lamb being born and shearing the ewe. Have a great day.Justin
