      @@ChaseMountains I think it was great to be able to do it within 30 minutes at home, but I would also be fine with a complementary routine for the gym that could a bit longer too.

    • @ChaseMountains
      @ChaseMountains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mattiasjakobsson7095 yeah ive found that my clients that train at home love the follow alongs but those who go to the gym as well basically need separate videos for each exercise and a list to just tick them off once then know how to do the exercise correctly.

    • @mattiasjakobsson7095
      @mattiasjakobsson7095 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you mean. If you recommend to do the current workout only once a week, a similar complement in the same style for at home would be great though.

    I'm new here. Just rediscovered my love for hiking at age 49. My favorite move is the Hipless Birddog. One of the things. What I love about your content (that is different) is the goal to be strong, capable, injury-proof, and enjoy being out in the world instead of constantly telling me how many calories I'm "torching" or how much fat I'm burning or how good I will look. That other stuff is actually demoralizing and sets my compass in the wrong direction. Being mobile, functional, and enjoying where my body can take me and what it can do is so much more inspiring.

    At 50 years old and a life spent lifting weights, backpacking, archery, and fly fishing I’m experiencing many aches & pains. Thru your videos I’m learning most of these are manageable thru strengthening supporting muscle groups. Not only am I feeling better and more energetic, but my range of motion has greatly increased. I can’t begin to thank you enough for sharing your knowledge so freely.
    Oh - these strengthening exercises have had tremendous impact in running as well. They are not just for hiking.

      I agree. At 64 years old and having been hard out active outdoors all my life (and never had a car! 😊), I am also aware of my body condition.
      I am also a stage 4 cancer survivor! 😊 💖 🙆🏻‍♀️
      I turn 65 in October this year, and I am aiming to attempt Te Araroa Trail here at home in New Zealand 🇳🇿 🙆🏻‍♀️ 😊.
      I am finding all of Chase Mountains videos extremely useful for ongoing training for my regular tramping (hiking) and keeping my strength up for this. 💖 🌳 🏕️ 😊

    I found your channel and have improved my foot / lower back pain immediately upon beginning your follow-along training. Been wearing orthotics for decades but since i started your exercises my collapsed arches have started improving and the orthotics now hurt more to wear them and i've ditched them. So i'll be transitioning into a barefoot shoe regimen now. I watched your convo with the CEO of Vivo and really am prepared now to do it the smart way. Thank you so much, as a dad of small kids, nearing my 40's, i value so highly my future ability to stay injury-free while 'chasing mountains' with my kids.

    This is probably the best workout I've done so far during the SARS-CoV-2 lockdown. I come from a bodyweight background too (calisthenics) but I don't have a bar at home. Doing both workouts in a row felt pretty good. The beauty of bodyweight is the range of challenge you can have in each type of exercise

    Going from being sedentary, I've done this workout twice a month for the past four months, along with zone 2 cardio, trail-maintenance work, day hikes, and a few other exercises. When I started, I'd hit zone 5 every time I did this workout. Now I barely crack zone 4, and my EPOC is way lower. The only thing I can't do is pushups.

    After an MRI diagnosed "hiker's knee" several years ago and the pain continually worsened, I considered arthroscopic knee surgery last year until I found this video. I've been disciplined enough to do just as you've instructed in the video. I have used this video once a week for the last 6 months and not only have I gotten stronger but I'm also able to engage the small stabilizer muscles I haven't felt in years. My knees and legs are super strong now and I want to say thank you!

    I'm super excited to find this. I'm recovering from a herniated disc in my low back and trying to get back some strength for my first 4 day backpacking trip since the injury. I will definitely be incorporating this into my workouts. None of these moves hurt my back, the slow deliberate motions wake up all the right muscles. Also, the view is a welcome change to the common TH-cam workout video. Well done.

    I was in the United States Marine Corps where we hump (hike) out for 8 to 12 miles. I think the type of training you do would greatly minimize injuries as opposed to how the USMC does it. The biggest problem in military hikes is foot problems and shine splints. And its because of the boots we wear.

    I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks now. As a 60 year old woman who thinks she’s reasonably fit doing horse riding I feel I need to do more to maintain fitness. I’m also going to be doing a charity hike beginning of June in Derbyshire UK for cancer research which is hilly but not mountains 😆
    As I live in a flat area of the UK I think this routine will help me prepare. I found it easy to follow & varied enough not to get bored. I haven’t got the same flexibility as I used to have but hey ho keep trying.

    I really dig the bridge to L-sit - really improves rom and stretches the muscles. And ,,Don't force it" is an important lesson - too many people injure themselves by stressing their joints and tendons by doing things too fast, being unpatient and increasing weight, reps, etc. too fast aswell.

I'm 68 years old and hiking (mainly day-walks) including in the mountains is probably my most enjoyable exercise. But, at 68 I find a lot of your stretches etc in this video too difficult for me. Tried this workout for the first time today to see if any pains came up. I have tried to condition myself doing things I have done in the past at the gym building strength again. However, after doing this video I built up a lot of sweat which is good since I also am trying to burn fat as I get back in shape to tackle my solo trips. When I reached to the second half of the workouts I couldn't do them so I learned I need to build some body strength now and not always rely on being sore to see progress. I really didn't get out of breath much but it felt like a good aerobic workout definitely felt energized but I should practice these movements more, my previous routine involved running a mile as a warm up and trying to get my time down to what I used to run when I was in shape.

    Not the gym but pilates is usually my go to. So some of the exercises were quite doable. Yet the push up on books completely killed me. Hahaha. A new goal is set: to be able to do that one! Thanks for all the insights so far. Mountains will be chased this spring! :)

    really nice workout chase! i will be incorporating it into my routine, i've been doing the "same bodyweight workout 3 times a week" for a while and really feel like i need to switch things up a bit. your content is really helping me do that :)
    I especially liked the bridge to l-sit, the isometric l-sit hold was soo hard haha

    Great routine! I'm a hiker since birth (practically grew up in the mountains) and I was looking for some new ways to get back in shape after my state examination and the lack of movement during study times. Thanks so much!

    I’ll be up front. I’m 6,0 and over 300 lbs it’s not as bad as it sounds but it’s the heaviest I’ve been. I’ve got plenty of body weight to use for these exercises and imma try them out. I’m a slighty more experienced than beginner hiker and I really need to focus on getting in better shape to enjoy my hobby more. Guess I’ll try em and see how I like it.

      @@ChaseMountains definitely sticking to the daily movements for now as those are really nice. The main issue I ran into with this actually ended up being that I’ve got some kind of bad issues with my two big toe nails right now(ingrown toenails.. gross) and it physically hurts to squat down on my toes like you do a couple of times in this vid. Likely need a doctor to look at my feet but that’s my issue to take care of I suppose.
