1910 Otis Traction Elevator at the Rush Rhees Library stacks

This is at U of R. This is the first elevator I've ridden with a manual door.

This was installed around 1928. This was still the Oak Hill country club in 1910.

@ROC Elevators Do you know there is another way to make the gate close, you press one fixture button and the gate immediately closes.

@Streetcar1743 yeah they keep it because they can make money off of the tower most of that probably goes to keeping this thing going the rest to the library

Unfortunately this elevator has since been modernized/replaced.
