There are going to be a good amount of characters who unfortunately will not become playable characters in Smash.
But it's still interesting to think about what kind of move sets these characters can have if they were playable, so that's why I'm here today.
Edit:
Some folks have shown me the interview that Sakurai did where he talked about his reasoning for not making Isabelle an echo fighter, which was because of her body type and slight height difference. With this information now given to me, I can now say that Blue's Pokémon really would be better classified as Semi-Clones, not Echo Fighters.

After making the Mistakes and Issues video, some folks brought to my attention an interview that Sakurai had where he discussed the qualifications and limitations of an echo fighter.
It has to do with the model skeleton.
If anything on the skeleton itself needs to be changed, mostly notably adding or taking away limbs, meaning they would need to make a whole new skeleton, then it would not be classified as an Echo Fighter.
Knowing this new information, I can agree that Blue would be a semi-clone, not an Echo Fighter.

Instead of triple finish you could have bulbasaur grab the opponent with his vines, have charmeleon use dragon claw on the opponent, and then finish it off with a mega blastoise hydropump

I say Reshiram and Zekrom will be used for the final smash with them using Fusion Flare and Fusion Bolt
I think he'd come with Carracosta, Zoruark, and Reshiram. Zekrom doesn't really make sense for his personality and the other 2 are simply well known for being used by him (Best character in the entire franchise btw)

I feel like it may have worked better to have each Pokémon echo it’s opposite so here’s my concepts for the specials
Charmeleon
Neutral: tail whip/scratch moves slightly in direction used, tail whip swiping down, scratch swiping up
Side: ember, similar, doesn’t pass through opponents, faster, more damage
Up special: same as in video
Blastoise
Neutral: hydro cannon, it works more like Samus’ charge shot mixed with ridley’s plasma breath (samus charge mechanic and angles, Ridley effects of charge)
Side: aqua jet, faster and more range than charizard’s but can’t be stopped and has less damage
Up special: bubble, blastoise does something pretty ridiculous and creates 2 bubbles from its cannons, it then floats upwards acting similarly to villager’s up special but not being able to go as far and be popped more easily
Bulbasaur
Neutral: stun spore, doesn’t push opponents, but acts like samus’ paralyzer but also puts opponents in special fall if not mashed out of fast enough
Side special: vine whip, bulbasaur uses his vines to pole vault into the enemy, bud first, higher range and damage but a lot of startup and end lag
Up special: growth heals a little, no damage though, also has less range. Just Kinda squishes up like a squid
If Guzma was in smash, that is what I want to see.
Team would be scizor masquerane and golisopod
If he wasn't an echo fighter Pidgeot, Exeggutor and Machamp would be fantastic.
Maybe replace Machamp with Blastoise and it's perfect!
I would love to be able to play as Pokémon Champion Cynthia, with Roserade, Milotic, and Garchomp. Final Smash could be Spiritomb appearing, put the enemy to sleep, then Dream Eater.

I think Blastoise's rain could be one of his taunts as well as a victory pose. It's a nice reference to Pokkén as well as being cancellable, which leaves a patch of rain on stage, even if he's not there

This series is great you always come up with unique move sets that work for the character and I love the drawings you do to help us visualize the moves a character I want you to do is black shadow from f-zero I feel you could come up with a great move set that isn’t just Gannon from melee

I have another idea for a character...Akuma! (From street fighter)
Akuma would be a unique character but with assets from ken and ryu (also he would have inputs)... Allow me to explain
Side Special: if you tap the button this attack hits multiple times but with less damage like kens...but if you hold the button this attack only hits once but deals more damage like ryu...if the input is done it deals more launch power...if in the air it sends akuma downwards in a diving kick
Neutral Special: if tapped the purple hadouken goes faster but doesn't deal much damage...if held the hadouken goes slower but deals more damage...if the inputs in the fireball would be red, fast, and deal fire damage...if used in the air akuma would shoot two purple hadoukens diagonally
Up Special: if tapped he would to a simple shoryuken if the buttons held akuma would do a stronger shorkyuken...if the input is done akumas fist would engulf in purple flames and hit multiple times (like ken)..if in the air akuma would go up but then come crashing down with a diving kick
Down Special: akuma would perform his teleport (where he goes foward or backward with the transparent images of akuma following him while being invisible)...you can go forward or backwards but if you press the attack button while teleporting you will grab the opponent and slam them into the ground before doing his signature Island Punch (aka akuma destroyed an island with a single punch)..the punch makes a very short shockwave
Final Smash: ....you already know what the final smash is.....The Raging Demon! (with the cutscene and everything)..... If the opponent is at 75 percent or higher this attack is an instant kill (also with the cutscene and everything)
Down Smash: akuma would do his island punch that causes a small shockwave and has a SLIGHT chance to bury opponents
Up Taunt: akuma would do his signature pose (with the fire effect) and it deals slight fire damage
Side Taunt: akuma would turn his back to the screen and yell HMPH before turning back
Down Taunt: akuma would punch the ground causing the screen to shake
Victory Animation 1: akuma would have his back at the screen (with his signature Satsui No Hado symbol burning on his back) and he would turn his head and glare at the viewer
Victory Animation 2: Akuma would say "Die one thousand deaths!" before punching the ground and causing fire the appear behind him
Victory Animation 3: the screen would be black and then the Satsui No Hado would appear burning in the background and akumas silhouette would appear with his back towards the screen and the Satsui no Hado symbol would also be on his back...akuma would then give a glare to the viewer like in his first victory animation but you can only see his red eyes
Losing Animation: akuma would be no where insight
Entrance: akuma would fall from the sky and land on the ground (causing the screen to shake a little) with his back towards the screen and get up before saying "I am Akuma...I will teach you the meaning of pain!" Before turning around and doing his signature pose (without fire effect)
Stage: Akuma would have a stage which would be M Bisons stage from street fighter 2...if you play as akuma on this stage akumas entrance would change...akuma would teleport up to M Bison and perform the raging demon (with the white screen and everything) before showing his back (with the symbol on it) and turning around...if not then m bison won't appear (but he will still be in the background dead(?) either way..even if akuma isnt being played)...the statues in the stage can be broken if a fighters launched into them...in the background (besides bison) would be Sagat, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Zangief, and Balrog...they would be watching the fight (with Balrog placing bets) when someone loses a stock Sagat would cross his arms, Dhalsim would still be meditating, and Chun-Li and Zangief would cheer...however Balrog would be upset because he lost a bet on who would win (this doesn't change no matter who loses the stock)
16:54 HOW HOLD ON A SECOND, I HAVE AN IDEA! You might recall that Pit and Dark Pit have different Final Smashes, despite Dark Pit being an echo. Well... We can do the same here! Make it a cinematic similar to Corrin in terms of activation box, being around the pokemon (Bulbasaur having a burst of pollen, Charmeleon having Fire Spin, and Blastoise having Hydro Pump shot on both sides). Anyone caught in would be subject to a Triple Finish in a cutscene, with Bulbasaur doing Leaf Storm instead of Solar Beam, and Mega Blastoise leading the charge with Hydro Cannon. Certainly a great idea in my opinion, and one that would be an amazing contrast to Red/Leaf.

I like how you’re doing them as an Echo-ish fighter where it’s similar to how Ken echoes Ryu where his Bs are the same but half/most basic attacks are different.

I really dig this moveset, using Blue as an echo, nice one. I don't know if it'll work, but for a Pokemon character, I'd love to see Brock or Cynthia
on blastoises up smash or footage of squirtle's pause it at the start of one of the loops he gets his mouth near the ground he spits water for a mere second
Given how much bulkier Blastoise is than Squirtle, I think his Neutral- and Down-Airs would probably look more like Bowser's, so he can get away with spinning more slowly.
Also, you know how Ivysaur's flower blooms during its Up-Smash? It'd be cool if Bulbasaur's bulb bloomed too, and for a split second he'd look like an Ivysaur.
I think this is the best one so far.
Please do Gunvolt! He's a cool, unique character that really deserves more recognition.
I love this idea. It gives us more poke's without them becoming over saturated like fire emblem characters 😂. Will always hope for this echo. Great job!
Suggestion: Killia (Disgaea 5)
I have a few move ideas.
Side Special: Exploding Tiger (Dashes forward a bit and any enemies caught in it will get frozen and have damage dealt to them. Then Killia will teleport back to his starting place and shatter the ice, dealing more damage. He can be hit after he teleports.) (3 enemies captured max to reference the game and balancing purposes.)
Neutral Special: Hellfire Shot (Shoots a big fire blast forward and explodes when it comes in contact with an enemy.)
Final Smash: Macrocosm (He closes his eyes and anyone caught near him will be trapped in the FS. It pulls out the move like in the game.)
Down Special: Avidiya Holy Water (Pulls up an aura around him and does a stance. If he gets hit he blasts the opponent with the beam.) (The stance references the game.)
And that’s all I can think of.

If you ever do the unova trainer, have the final smash be the Pledge moves (yes, another triple finish, but this one actually makes sense as these moves were DESIGNED as combo moves)

Couldn't his final smash be Blue making eye contact with the foe and saying "Let's battle!" causing a cinematic cut-scene where Blue has Blastoise and then does a mega evolution. He then uses Hydro cannon which Blastoise aims true and charges the blast which then also has Bulbasaur and Charmeleon using Frenzy Plant and Blast Burn respectively. Then Blastoise finally fires and launches the foe a considerably far distance.
Announcer: FARTASS WINS!

Also: Reveal Trailer: The Pokemon Trainers are fighting the other pokemon fighters in a team battle, then a voice says "Did you two really thing you could leave me behind?" and the trainers turn around to see Blue Standing on a hill.
For Squirtle's Up-Smash, I think it's a reference to Water Pledge, which is why the pillars just show up from puddles at its sides.
In Blue's Final Smash the Fire Blasts could come out faster visually or maybe even be bigger and shrinking over the duration like the Flamethrower with Chameleon overcompensating. Also that pouting Chameleon with the tiny winglets was adorable.
You should do a “What if Team Rocket was in Smash?” (Jessie and James)
They’d have meowth, wobuffet, and maybe Arbok or Weezing (Arbok would make more sense)

I can get behind the idea of making Blue be an echo fighter of Red, but I'd propose a different set of Pokemon. Hear me out:
Blastoise - the starter Pokemon that Blue picked in Origins, Masters, and (as Gary Oak) the anime. These are all continuities where Red (or Ash) had a Charizard on his team.
Scizor - the starter Pokemon Blue picked in Adventure, a continuity where Red eventually has an Ivysaur. Gary Oak also had a Scizor on his team when he fought Ash in the Silver Conference.
Jolteon - one of the potential fully-evolved starters Blue can have in Yellow Version. It fits the theme here, since it has type-advantage against Squirtle the just like Scizor against Ivysaur and Blastoise against Charizard.
I'd also accept Umbreon as Blue's Eeveelution of choice. It's the counter to Espeon, the Eeveelution Red uses on Mt. Silver, and it's also the Eeveelution that Gary Oak has on his team.
You should do green next! Charmander, wortortle, and venosoar!

Reason I want Rayquaza: 1. Another Brawl Boss Turned To A Playable character which would be dope. 2. SNEK. 3. Cool Pokemon. 4. we haven't had a pokemon related "If they were in smash" for a while now.
I’d think it would very interesting and challenging if you did the portal girl or some other portal character! They could be focused on summoning turrets, cubes, and/or portals.

I think Blastoise’s Down Air could be like Bowser’s Down Air where it tucks its head and limbs into its shell, and spin dives downwards. He could do that or just have a standard, spiking stomp kick with both feet, but I think the shell attacks more interesting.

I made a whole moveset for baby mario and luigi (as a pair) because I was inspired by your videos. I’m thinking about writing the moveset in the comment, but that’s too much work right now...

Blue as an Echo Fighter:
Technically speaking, the Pokémon themselves need to be echos of Red's.
So this is my idea:
Blastoise: Echo of Squirtle
Sakurai planned on adding Blastoise in Brawl originally. Now Blastoise would be kinda like Bowser with slower movement.
Neutral - Hydro Pump. Like Mario's custom High Pressure F.L.U.D.D. takes longer to charge but has a stronger push effect.
Side - Withdraw. Slower but stronger.
Up - Waterfall. Almost the same.
Charmeleon: Echo of Charizard
Charmeleon lacks wings but makes up for it with speed. (Only has two jumps of course)
Attacks that involve wings use its claws instead.
Neutral: Flamethrower
Side: Fire Punch. Kinda like Raptor Boost. Doesn't cause recoil damage.
Up: Flame Charge. You could say its somewhat similar to Fox and Falco's Up B.
Bulbasaur: Echo of Ivysaur
Yeah, just a Pichu version of Ivysaur. A slight difference is that it uses Ivysaur's old Brawl moves.
Hey, why did you use the same move for two specials? You could use slash for the side or up special of charmeleon. Being used as the side special it vould work pretty much like fox's side special but the hitbox would just be at the place where charmeleon stopped, aslo having a little shorter range. The other alternative where Slash is used as the up special, it would work kinda like Lucina's up special (cut a little of horizontal range since it's a claw not a sword). The good part in slash is that either ways (up or side special) it would have a chance of dealing double damage just to reference the high crit rate of it.
I love this idea! Blastoise’s up-B could resemble Bowser’s and his side B could be like Squirtle’s, but much slower and hit a lot harder.
There was a rumor not too long ago that Giovanni could potentially echo Pokémon trainer, with Rhyhorn, Persian, and Nidoqueen, which would also be another cool idea!

i came up with a dumb idea (from the future);
galar champion leon as a smash fighter. idk what his team would be but his final smash would be g-max wildfire. he gigantimaxes his charizard, sending everyone on the field to an arena as his charizard uses g-max wildfire to blow the oponents off the stage

He's from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, an anime, but theres enough material in games he's in to make a moveset out of.

Now I want blue in ultimate as DLC. And I'd love to see Pokemon trainer Sinnoh in moveset ideas.
I would imagine Blastoise retracting into his shell and using rapid spin as his Up-B, with jets of water spewing out for propulsion. They would also throw out numerous wind-boxes.

Ninten English Voice would be look like Sonic (Ryan Drummond or Jason Griffith or Roger Craig Smith) or Tails (Amy Palant or Colleen Villard) But His Japanese Voice will be like Ash Ketchum (Rica Matsumoto) because Ninten might be faster than Ness and Lucas and he look like Pokemon trainer (since he wear cap)

Solid idea, but a slight correction; the Pokemon would be considered semi-clones or derivative fighters, as while they fight similarly, they have significant differences in certain attacks, hitboxes and stats (for example, Pichu is not an Echo Fighter to Pikachu). An Echo Fighter is a fighter that has extremely minor changes from the fighter they're based on
That being said, this does feel like the smartest choice for making Blue a fighter, especially considering the type matchup factor. It actually reminds me of this rumor I heard about, where someone was spreading the rumor that "Rival Pokemon Trainer" was a character set to appear in Brawl. That and ever since I found out Blastoise was considered as a fighter I've wanted to see it join, so this works out even better.
If I could make some suggestions for future characters you could cover, maybe you could cover Captain Toad from the Mario/Captain Toad games, and maybe as another Pokemon team fighter, you could do a villain team Grunt, like Team Skull or something
Actually what makes a character an Echo Fighter isn't really all that well defined. I'll point you to Ken Masters, who is a confirmed Echo Fighter for Ryu, but has a bunch of moves that are just straight up different from Ryu's.
Also if you notice, characters like Pichu and Dr. Mario aren't Echos more than likely because they originally made their appearances in games earlier than Smash 4. The only characters to become echos who were in games before Ultimate were Lucina and Dark Pit, and that's because they were originally planned to be costumes, not full blown characters.
The reality of it, Blue doesn't need to be an echo fighter, that's just a role I put him in because it's a concept that current. This isn't official, and everybody has opinions and their own ideas, these are just mine.

some comments on the move-set:
Bulbasaur's side b should be quick loading in its bulb then spit out a line of razor leaves from the bulb in a straight line forward, like a group of Falco lasers
Blastoise's f air and dash attack should be facing forward because he's too big to turn around in time for it to not be an awkward looking animation
Charmeleon's up tilt should be him going on all fours really quick and whipping his tail up for a quick flare, and up smash should also go on all fours and swing his tail around above him
Aimable neutral b is kinda weird with 2 cannons, so if any of his attacks should be aimed it should be up smash
Bulbasaur's neutral air should be spinning with the vines swinging for a bigger hitbox, and his neutral b should be able to be aimed to make up for the smaller hitbox and less punishable
Flare blitz could be weird so fire punch could work instead (similar to falcon punch but moves forward a bit, about 1/4 the size of fd)
Blastoise's side b should be changed to rapid spin, which is a mix of bowser's grounded up b and the original side b from Squirtle. rapid spin could also act as the up b and skull smash could be the side b (a long loading time where he's invincible but grabbable, then lets out a superpowered attack whichever direction he's facing. the up b could also be blasting waterfalls straight down to propel him upwards, but this could be weird, punishable and hard to use.
Charmeleon's up b could be changed to dragon rush, which works like wolf's up b but does more damage
can't fix final smash, but it needs to be fixed

Could you maybe give some further explanation for Blastoise’s dair? The most notable part of Squirtle’s down air is his tail.
For me, I’d instead make it like Blastoise’s Up Smash. Blastoise quickly turns upside down and fires water from its cannons, spiking if sweetspotted, but having only a windbox farther down.
It just spins up right like Squirtle. Yes it's missing the long tail, but it's naturally longer body would compensate for that.
