A very cheaply made film from the 50's but surprisingly effective. It's impressive that the monsters mouth can actually move and the color is pretty good all told. There are places where it flickers between color and b/w but it's not terrible.
In 1988, the crime rate in the United States rises four hundred percent. The once great city of New York becomes the one maximum security prison for the entire country.😊
Let's be real a minute. I was a young boy when this came out and I saw it in our theater because we didn't have TV, my friends and I couldn't have cared less about the meaning of 10,000 even 20,000 leagues! They were only exciting names! And, I don't believe I am alone.
It's a literary reference: Jules Verne I think, 20 Thousand Leagues under the Seas. Great books often inspired movie plot lines, back in the day when it was routine for people to read books.
The "monster" looks like a cross between a sea horse and Godzilla! I love these movies!!😂
Cool 😎, I’ve never seen a colorized version of this film 🎥, Thanks.
I loved this movie! 1950's are th best movies! Thank you so much for sharing!💥❤💫
Film 50s clasico Sci Fi con Kent Taylor excelente recuerdo 🎬📽🎞

The movie is very interesting.
I recognize the secretary and the speargun guy. They’ve been in a lot of B movies, I think.
The speargun guy was veteran actor Phillip Pine.

Kent Taylor without his ultra sleazy moustache. Dan Milner was Robert Mitchum's character in His Kind Of Woman.
Good 1950s movie!!

What does Escape from NY have to do with this movie?

Nice color. Helene Stanton was super hot looking. I liked her in New Orleans Uncensored too.
This must be a B SCI-FI movie. Most of those actors areunknown.
It’s a good movie
Duh
Fifties Sci fi was almost all B movies, LoL
10,000 leagues from where? A league is a unit of distance, not depth.

They probably named the movie "The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues", because of the Disney movie "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" which released in 1954.
A League had a lot of different defined lengths historically. But in general, it was the distance a person would walk in 1 hour, about 2 miles.
Yes, because these showings are about absolute realism, Lol. 👎🏻
