I am interested in this but I would like to see more videos or more information. I have a GTO46 and I'm currently outsourcing the plate development process but this is costly and time consuming. There is some many brands and models available online and it gets confusing on a newbie like myself so I would greatly appreciate more info and how different is this from other CTPs.

      My comments regarding your questions:
      1. I don't think there are many brands and models in this price range. Most CTP machines are laser, and these are either 5-10x more expensive or second hand.
      2. The few CTP devices in this price range are, in my opinion, of far worse quality. Most work on 1440x1440 dpi on non-conventional plates.
      3. On the other hand, our system creates high quality 175 lpi conventional plates, the plates are so good that are difficult to distinguish from laser CTP plates.
I'd suggest you to contact us (see contact info on www.studiorip.com) by e-mail or WhatsApp, this way I can answer all your questions.

Does this work with any positive acting conventional plate or do these plates have a special inkjet receptive coating on them?

They have a special inkjet receptive coating on them, as shown at 0:51. That's the reason why it has so much better quality than other solutions without inkjet receptive coatings - this coating prevents the ink from spreading, and also allows enough ink to build up to form robust halftone dots. Technologies without coating generally use less ink (resulting in much less sharp edges), and typically have problems at 50% (where the dots touch) and above 90% (where the dots get plugged).
This technology is REALLY comparable with laser - the results are difficult to distinguish without a microscope.
