    I've never tried hammock camping-- didn't seem appealing to me-- but I'm seeing so many videos where folk are saying it's the way to go.... I think I'm going to have to try it! Great video...entertaining and informative. I watch a gaggle of UK wild-campers....ya'll have skills and really seem in your element. Wallace is looking good as always! Cheers from Baltimore, Maryland, U.S..

      Thanks for tuning in. Yes, a hammock does have the advantage of serving as an armchair and bug free sleeping crib for us older guys with dodgy knee joints, although it ain't low profile. All the very best to. Harry

    I love a good hammock camp, I didn't do a lit last year so I need to switch it up a gear this year. I do like the DD gear and it's well worth visiting their stall Harry if you get chance to get to the Bushcraft Show this year pal. They are a good bunch of lads.
    I'm sure you'll be very happy in there over the coming months. Thanks pal

    Thanks. I've done a bit of hammock camping, but I'm very far from an expert, so it was good to see you talk through your set up. That DD hammock and bug net looks a really nice bit of kit, ATB, Graham 👍

    Hey Harry 👋
    Nice set up, couple of pointers if you don't mind. When your eventually sleep in it, make sure your leg end is elevated a bit to stop you slipping down the end. Also do the paracord hack on the zips, I did a little video on how to this but it's simple... saves you having to bend too far to zip up after you've got in. I also took the nylon cord out of my DD when I had it and swapped out for continuous loops from Henge Hammocks lighter and you can just get 2 lightweight straps and a carabiner on each end, it's a bit more adjustable on the hoof then... I've struggled with hammocking for years but finally got it all sussed... sort of 😂

    • @FlyingHaggisFilms
      @FlyingHaggisFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really good advice there, I'll follow, especially the woopy cords. An under quielt seems good for no matter what, objects slide about beneath. I do hope a 3.50 long by 3 yarp can be found because I fear three yards might be too short. 👍👍👍

    • @BurtonOutdoors
      @BurtonOutdoors ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FlyingHaggisFilms with the DD hammock I would of though the standard 3x3 would be suffice, its all used when I had my DD as they are short, I still only use my 3x3m DD tarp for my new hammock and that's 12ft long... although it has to go in diamond. Yes deffo an underblanket in all weather's I've found. And I did also have Whoopie Slings, although they can be fiddly. Good luck

    Nice set up there with DD Harry. I also use the bungees - old army habit. I reckon you'll have some fun with the hammock this year with your trusty one by your side. I trust you're well out there. Mark

    • @FlyingHaggisFilms
      @FlyingHaggisFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mark, kind of you to say, as ever. Yes, bungies all the way, although, hammock are not really low profile, ground dwelling is always a good option with a small light folding chair to watch the sun set whilst holding a nice beer and listening to nature fall asleep and the night shift take over. All the very best. Harry....out

    Very Nice Harry; I can see why you went for a 3.5x3.5 I have a 4x4 and its massive (Circus tent style) ! DD do make some good products; the hammock has options too! just what you need in the bush..........blends in very well too so your not goint to attract any unwanted attention........... Do you have new boots? look like AKU's? look very smart! .......A hearty meal and Wallace at the ready; great stuff 😉👍

    • @FlyingHaggisFilms
      @FlyingHaggisFilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Gillian, I think DD only do a 3x3 in camo, I'll shop around, I think 3x3.50 would be perfect and long enough. 3x3 might be too short for hammock don't you think? The boots I think were £300 Mendle, from a mountain shop, extremely comfortable platforms and rugged soles, like waking on air, did 3 days bug out once and no blisters or pain, brilliant quality pays off. Hope you can get out soon, stay well. Peace. Harry.

    Think you won't regret to swap the rectangular tarp for a square one which is much more easier for doing some tarp-origami. A friend of mine had a 4m x 4m tarp (larger means more living space, he reckoned) but it didn't take long before he swapped it for a 3m x 3m one like mine. Easier to set up in woodlands and also offering plenty of living space. Like you I prefer bungees. Perhaps a little bit more weight and volume but I'm okay with that. I like the easy way (or just call me lazy).
    Anyway, am looking forward to your DD Hammock overnighter video. Don't they have a smaller size for Wallace? Take care bro, atb, Hans.

    • @FlyingHaggisFilms
      @FlyingHaggisFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Hans, as usual, you are very helpful. Indeed, I have decided to use a 3x3 for all the reasons you state. Although when the happy night comes along my wandering beagle will have to stay at home as my wife doesn't trust it or me to behave responsibly 🤣 stay safe and well old bro and enjoy the outdoors. Harry

    i had a 4x4 DD tarp but found it too big, it would catch the wind and become a sail,
    overall i found 3x3 to be the best size,
