These people must watch these guys on the Land Rover experience!
In the real world that doesn’t work, hit it as fast as possible 3rd gear low range diff lock and don’t come off the throttle till your clear of the mud !
You need to try and clean your tyres by flicking the mud off them , this only happens with wheel speed .

Just another owner who forgot to engage the center diff lock. It is easy to observe, the traction front and rear is not locked in the 50/50 position......

Tyres. You can have the best 4x4xfar and it comes down to 4 points of contact. Hero to zero.

I've got a 90 TD5 from 2006 without traction control in stock form and can say that being an average driver, it's very difficult to drive a Defender without lockers in mud. This guy's AT tires were clearly insufficient as well, also he could have used low range to limit the slippage. But being the average driver that I am, I would choose a Wrangler Rubicon or a G-class any day over a stock Defender (or anything with lockers for that matter). That being said, if a Defender is modified by a person who knows what they are doing, it will probably be unbeatable by the competition. So, as was in my case, being a stock Defender and expecting great off-road performance is wrong.

low range would increase the chance of slippage, low range=more torque to the wheels which will make it easier to spin the tyres. momentum would be key here high 1st or even 2nd gear.

Pathetic driving, need some speed in this situation..... alternatively, the new Defender with its All Terrain Response System would immediately figure that bit of mud out and transfer power to the wheels that are not slipping, also it wouldn't stall. You would be wafted through that with no drama whatsoever and I might add.....in complete comfort and luxury, sad to say, but the new Defender is far superior on and off road to the old and I'm a 40 year landrover fan.
