  • Learn how to trade and join other graduates of the "Million Dollar Traders" Course! Head over to milliondollartraders.com
    Savvy investors know that an investment in knowledge pays the best interest!
    More about the TV Series and our online course training:
    'Million Dollar Traders' was a British reality television series created by a hedge fund manager Lex van Dam (milliondollartraders.com)
    Eight ordinary people are given a million dollars, a fortnight of intensive training and two months to run their own hedge fund. Can they make a killing?
    The experiment reveals the inner workings of a City trading floor. The money is supplied by hedge fund manager Lex van Dam: he wants to see if ordinary people can beat the professionals, and he expects a return on his investment too. Yet no-one foresees the financial crisis that lies ahead.
    The traders were selected in spring 2008, before the US credit crisis gathered pace. The successful candidates were chosen, trained and dispatched to their specially created trading room in the heart of the Square Mile. Among them are an environmentalist, a soldier, a boxing promoter, an entrepreneur, a retired IT consultant, a vet, a student and a shopkeeper.
    The eight novice city traders struggle to ride the storm as stock markets around the world go haywire. Some of them take big risks, and others lose their nerve in spectacular fashion.
    As you progress through the course you will gain a better understanding of how professional investors like Lex approach the markets and begin to develop your own style of trading using his framework. Crucially you will be equipped to recognize and adapt when market conditions change, and take advantage of trading opportunities that other strategies cannot possibly prepare you for. By the end of the course you will be fully prepared to invest on a personal basis or pursue a career as a professional trader.
    If you are interested in joining the Academy head over to milliondollartraders.com or get in touch with us at info@milliondollartraders.com

      Agreed - honestly the markets were something that never even crossed my radar for years, but the more I get into them the more I realize how interesting I find them. It's not just raw numbers but the forecasting based of constantly evolving news, information and technology - literally anything and everything from weed stocks to commodities to biomedical to EVs. Any piece of news can have an impact on the market. I'm only in with what most people in the game would consider pocket-change myself (500£) but I'm up overall 30% and there's nothing better than making a calculated move and it actually pays off.

      Kriss Ichi day trading is pretty unpredictable.
      When you see green you usually pull out soon after before it might go red again.
      Swing trading is better though since it’s focused on a bigger picture and more stable depending on the stock or ETF.

    As someone who actually trades I can tell you one thing: Lex new this was going to happen. When I listen to their thinking process, hear the losses they are taking I feel almost physical pain myself. There is no way a newbie day trades in a consistent manner, especially on fundamentals. Good show tho!

      But I think he was trying to sell his course. He offers for sale the same course that these traders apparently went through. And they did beat the market. They lost less as a unit during the period of this show than the average professional trader, so while they still lost, during this very difficult and tumultuous period they still technically outperformed most professionals. So I guess his course kind of got the publicity it needed. Obviously trading is a very difficult discipline. I think in a way, he probably hoped that taking non-traders might be easier than attempting to train traders that already have so many bad habits, nuances and biases.

      SAME...that stinging feeling inside brought me back to 2017-2020...I did nothing but get my ass handed to me for years trading...wasn't until more recently did I start having green weeks, months and years...on track for my third straight green year and no red months...just red days and a few red weeks this year. It's hard af and it takes a long time...took me a long time. Tbh it's not worth doing unless you are really into it, because if you aren't one of those rare people who are pretty good fairly quickly...you are gonna have a very hard time and you'll have to grind, and it's fvcking painful...only thing that will get you through the pain, is having a real zeal and passion for the markets...and good money management skills. Some people get into this, think they really want to do it...experience that pain, and then they give up. It's not nice constantly getting your ass handed to you by the markets....but since I dealt with it so long I don't even got bothered by losses anymore, cruise through them and look for the next play.

    I'm glad I found this video I'm thinking of investing some money into shares hoping to gain some extra money for the future.
    Watching this has really opened my eyes to the pressures of trading in stock's on a daily basis,.
    I can't believe that Simon is putting him self in a position where he is under that much pressure and really not showing it.
    he is his own worst enemy making bad decisions with out just sitting back and listening to himself or without learning from his own decisions.
    I bet he's glad that he's been given the opportunity to spend someone else's money, I bet he's not going to put his own money on the line.
    I really do hope he is successful in his future and if he does invest money in shares that he does with some professional help.

    • @CHURCHISAWESUM
      @CHURCHISAWESUM 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Trading is a morally neutral activity. Especially day trading like this. You're not producing, they are. Day Trading is betting on price movements and investing client money is acting in the best interest of clients (at least they're supposed to), you're a services employee not a global influencer. Trading isn't any more moral or immoral than taking out a loan for a house. It's a purely financial decision. And putting your clients ahead of lofty college idealism is no more moral or immoral than a mother bear killing something that gets too close to its cubs. It's just instincts and human nature in practice. And every trade is a voluntary transaction by 2 parties who both believe they benefit. Any attempt to be more ethical than that is just hubris thinking that you know what's best for everyone more than they do.

    • @Branflakehere

    • @adamu1978
      @adamu1978 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CHURCHISAWESUM It's not a question of morality. There's no such thing as morality. But it is a question of ethics. Ethics is a dynamic set of criteria that we apply to changing situations in order to act in a way to do the least amount of harm. Ethics in trading implies refraining from taking the naive view that the decisions an individual makes have no effect or consequences on the world around them. Investing, no matter the duration, in munitions companies is unethical. They provide the weapons infrastructure for governments to enforce illegal foreign policies around the world. It doesn't get any more clear than that.
