14 Very Close Takeoffs: MD11, 777, 787, A330, A300, 767, MD81, 757, A321 Manchester Airport

- Using my Canon Powershot A810 video camera and tripod, I filmed all of the clips in this video at Manchester Airport on both in early to mid 2013. I used Windows Movie Maker to edit all of the raw video clips I filmed to create this video here, which only uses content I myself filmed and fully own.
14 takeoffs at Manchester Airport, departing on runway 23L.
Aircraft filmed are from different locations on different days, so aircraft on the takeoff roll will be different from the aircraft on rotation.
Part of the "Very Close Takeoff" collection with some great spool up sounds, especially the MD11 and the 777.
The SAS MD81 on the takeoff roll was retired from SAS's fleet just days after filming and has now been stored, with the remaining MD81 fleet being retired fairly soon.
Lufthansa Cargo MD11 takeoff heading to Frankfurt, arriving from Dallas.
1st: D-ALCB (first flight in 1998), 2nd: D-ALCK (first flight in 2000)
American Airlines 757-200 takeoff heading to New York JFK.
1st: N177AN (first flight in 2001), 2nd: N198AA (first flight in 2001)
Singapore Airlines 777-300ER takeoff heading to Singapore via Munich.
1st: 9V-SWE (first flight in 2006), 2nd: 9V-SWO (first flight in 2008)
Virgin Atlantic A320 takeoff heading to London Heathrow.
1st: EI-DEO (first flight in 2005), 2nd: EI-EZV (first flight in 2003)
Thomson 787 Dreamliner takeoff heading to Cancun.
1st: G-TUIA "Living the Dream (just 2 months old at the time, 2nd: G-TUIC (just a month old at the time)
SAS MD82 / MD80 takeoff heading to Copenhagen.
1st: LN-RML (first flight in 1991) now stored, 2nd: SE-DMB (first flight in 1991)
Pakistan International Airlines 777-200ER takeoff heading to Lahore.
AP-BHX (first flight in 2007)
Thomas Cook A330-200 takeoff heading to Cancun.
OY-VKF (first flight in 1999)
Jetairfly 767-300ER takeoff heading to Ibiza.
1st: OO-JAP (first flight in 2001), 2nd: OO-TUC (first flight in 1990)
Monarch A300 takeoff heading to Larnaca
1st: G-MAJS (first flight in 1991), 2nd: G-MONS (first flight in 1990)
British Airways A321 takeoff heading to London Heathrow.
1st: G-EUXH (first flight in 2004), 2nd: G-EUXF (first flight in 2004)
Titan Airways operating on behalf of Jet2 takeoff heading to Alicante.
G-ZAPX (first flight in 2000)
Monarch 757-200 takeoff heading to Rhodes.
1st: G-DAJB (first flight in 1987), 2nd: G-MONJ (first flight in 1998)
Small Planet 737-300 takeoff.
LY-FLH (first flight in 1992)

Man those engines on the 777 is so massive. When on watch the 777 among other planes you can really tell how huge they are!!!
Love the snarl of the fan blades as they spin up to takeoff RPMs, especially the GE90s on the B777s.

definitely. it is probably the perfect plane( in my opinion). very safe, very efficient, new technology, and very long range.

757 and 737's are like a missle. I do like the MD80 too, those engines sound so cool.
It always fascinates me for some reason the MD80s run the same engines the early 737s used to.
Fantastic camera work! Love that 787, I use to think they were horribly ugly, but over the last couple years they have really grown on me. Had a tour of the cockpit at work, man that flight deck is something else.
I think rolling aircraft is most wonderful thing in the world. The moment when hundreds tons machine begins to leave the ground makes me proud of humanity.
By far, the 757 is the prettiest, with the winglets, of course. It's also the best sounding with that outrageous buzz saw!

Harry After the cargo door issue was fixed, the DC-10 had the engine loss @ ORD on the American and the Hydraulic issue when the GE engine blew over Iowa... both of these crashes led to improvements on ALL aircraft. Afterwards, the DC-10 was a remarkably safe aircraft. The MD-11 was designed with a small tail for fuel efficiency but unknowingly created a danger when landing. Now they land faster but still have the same tail. The DC-10 is a MUCH safer plane than the MD-11... but the MD-11's are much newer & fuel efficient... and fantastic load workhorses. I love them both...
I wonder anyway what became of DC aircraft and the corporation. There should be, if not already, TH-cam videos about that.

Also like 7 years ago i flew on a Biman DC-10 (the time when it ACTUALLY went to New York). Since the aircraft was so old, the one giant tv screen was broken, lol.
Pity no one flies the L-1011 Tristar anymore.

This is why i love the 757
767 and 737 are my favorites, though I'm a Boeing fanboy! I love the little wing tips and I prefer the shriek of the smaller engines over the roar of the bigger ones (like the 777).
My favorite planes are 767, 747, 777, A330, A380, 737, 757, A320, A321, A319, 787 and 717
