    The ground being in its own category is actually amazing, especially now that it can go up to 4,000. Nintendo really did a good on that one.

      But you know what, you don‘t need that much anymore
      They put in the „no further scroll thing“ where you make a solid wall of ground blocks from the bottom all the way to the top, so you can‘t see the area behind it.
      I used to place so many ground blocks to make my stage more nicely and real but with this new option, you won‘t need it anymore

    Yoshi Eggs count as part of the "enemy" group due to the Egg taking the slot of the Goomba Shoe in the modes it is in.

      @@pepearown4968 Actually, while the item itself is tied to the Goomba Shoe and acts somewhat similarly, the Big Yoshi egg is not derived from the item slots being shared. (It was likely added as a "you can also do this!" sorta thing.)

    What makes the ground total an even bigger upgrade is the fact that we don’t have to place a ton of ground tiles to hide rooms anymore thanks to the scroll stop feature.

    I've been waiting for this kind of video for a long time now. And I have to say the big news here about Ground Tiles makes me very happy.
    In the first Mario Maker, I would make big Castle or Underground levels where the block limit would often rear it's ugly head, often making me have to resort to filling in gaps between rooms with semi-solid platforms and in some cases outright just cutting the level shorter than intended. But making Ground tiles have their own limit separate from the block limit (which also benefits from this change) now is one of the most incredibly useful changes in Mario Maker 2, especially with that limit being _4000_ tiles. Adding to that with the Scroll Stop feature meaning I no longer have to fill in gaps between rooms with blocks, and now I'm pretty much guaranteed to never run out of ground/blocks when making Castle and Underground levels. And that's truly one of the best things I could have asked for with this game.

    The tracks are such an improvement. They used to count towards the ground limit in SMM1 which was super super annoying. These new limits honestly sound perfect - not too spammy but not too limiting. Thanks for doing this.

    These are some amazing quality of life updates for the editor.
    They probably could've upped a few of the limits, but 4,000 ground blocks + 2,000 other blocks is amazing enough already.

    The buff to the ground block limit is _AMAZING,_ but it's shocking to me that the number of enemies allowed hasn't increased at all. It's really limiting for certain types of stages, especially because *so many things* fall under this category. I'll happily take the overall improvement, but I can't say that I'm not slightly disappointed. Either way, thanks for doing the research for us GameXplain! This knowledge should prove itself to be very valuable once I can start making some levels!

    I'm so glad that the ground is in it's own group. Well, outside of sloped ground but that shouldn't be much of a problem.
    I can't tell you how many times I ran out of ground to lay down to fill in ugly empty areas. Also the ability to stop scrolling by placing a wall of ground is gonna help a lot as well and seems like an underrated feature. Not too many people seem to talk about this.

      you can sort of emulate that now. create a vertical area using the forest theme, lock the water level at about halfway, and place ground all along the water's edge. you now have a ground area and an underwater area.

      And don't get me wrong. Spliting the level the way he described sounds like a fun idea which I might use in a level but unfortunately it doesn't increase the size of the level really :D

    they really should've increased the enemy limit too. 100 enemies was never enough, especially when any object after being placed on a track counts toward the enemy counter too.

      It's to stop enemy spam levels. It's better that way and encourages better level design if you cant just stash the course with enemies.

      separate limits? no no no. mario maker has too many individual limits as it is. more of the limits should be consolidated to give makers more freedom to spend those quotas differently. that's an entirely separate issue as to whether the limits should be higher or lower.

    The change to ground tiles is really the biggest and most important one. I’m sure people like Andre will still hit the limit with their insanely creative levels, but it seems like there are a lot better options to work around those limits if need be

    I’m good with all of these, except for the snake blocks and enemies. These seem a bit too limiting, Snake Blocks should be 10 or 20 and enemies should be 150

    wait, but how many WARP Pipes can be placed. Is it the same as the original or have they changed it. By WARP Pipes, I mean pipes that take Mario to, and from the sub-area. And what clear conditions did that give you.

      The Chrismo Pipe stacking could be exploited to create several bugs; one of which was having a single pipe lead to more than one area.

    Don't forget that because of clear conditions you can basically have hundreds of pink coins. They will just be normal coins, but if you have to collect every last one they will function like pink coins.
    How terrifying for troll levels :o

      the basic problem with mario maker is that there are too many micro-limits (only four sets of doors!?) that add up to a too-large total limit. (as a player, i don't want to play a level that maxes out everything. it's too much!) there should be a lower limit on total "stuff", but makers should be able to choose what elements they want to use without having to deal with all these micro-limits.

      It won't ever happen. Even if it was on a powerful computer, memory is always a limit. It's like how minecraft is technically infinite but will crash if it gets too big.

    Enemy limit didnt change :( Also the pirhana creeper and snake block limit is too low, I was thinking of levels based around pirhana creeper parkour but nope

    I think the Chaarvargh and Piranha creeper limits will be very limiting if you want to make levels based around their mechanics.
