the MacDonald video gives out a strange message. the music is "Jump" by Van Halen, which is about a guy committing suicide by jumping off a building. couple that with Christmas being the number one day of the year for suicides due to people feeling lonely or unwanted.
The bag for life, I think just means jd sports for life, the place to go kind of thing, and I loved the Rick astley part, incorporating a line from his song.
Loved this. We haven’t seen half of these ads! I have to say from what we’ve seen Aldi is our hands down favourite - so clever. Interesting fact - we both worked with Hannah Waddingham on a show way back!!! ‘A Chorus of Disapproval’ - she was phenomenal even then! Love TK Maxx too. We love Rob and Ryan in the M&S advert. Yup - we ❤ Wrexham!!! Great fun Dara. It’s an Aldi win for us! Cheers 🍻
I know you are insanely busy, so I'm glad you had time to watch this video. I was hoping you would comment on Rob and Ryan❤️🏴. I didn't expect you would have a connection to Hannah as well! That's so fun! Merry Christmas to you both!
British Christmas adverts are wonderful, I knew John Lewis did one each year but it's lovely to see so many other stores have them too. My favourites from the ones you showed were the TKMaxx one, the M&S and the Barbour one, love Shaun the Sheep!
Merry Christmas Dara and Ian...love watching all the ads, funny because I skip all the ads on tv when I watch...TK Max was my favorite one today! See you soon!
Merry Christmas Donna! We never see ads except those served up on TH-cam since we stream. It seems like a lot of effort is being put in to media that few people watch.
Well that was interesting. There were a few really nice ones. Whether the message was clear or not- the animations do it 'best' for watching enjoyment for me. Another great selection Dara. 🎄🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿👌
The quality of animation is amazing these days. Too bad that most of these ads will get little in the way of watch time in this age of streaming and skipping.
Hi Dara & Ian, I always look forward to your best UK Christmas ads videos. My favourite was TK Maxx one. So adorable 💕 I liked the concept of the Boots ad - the story of giving. It was fun. Haha, never seen an ASDA store look quite like that either! 😂 The Shawn the Sheep ad was cute and funny. Very enjoyable - thank you! Merry Christmas! ❤❤🎄
I had to talk myself into doing one this year because they always end up being so much more difficult than I THINK they will be! But I do enjoy seeing what the British advertisers have cooked up each year! I love that TK Maxx advert as well... it had me dancing!
Everyone in the horse world wore Barbours and Hunter wellies in the 1980’s but you don’t see them at all now. I certainly haven’t worn them since then.
Hello Dara. A great range of adverts. Most of them I haven’t seen yet. Barbour is a great manufacturer of waxed outdoor jackets of the highest quality. Next time you’re in a country town or village you will see dozens of these jackets, usually green. Sturdy and weatherproof and built for keeping the warmth and rain out. Virtually every farmer, country gent or lady will where one. Also became a fashion accessory for the upwardly mobiles. The Shaun the Sheep is an Aardmann Animations creation. Their biggest creation was the Wallace & Gromit movies. Interest fact especially for you, Dara, Wallace & Gromit were cheese fans, if you watch their movies, you’ll see it come up. Wensleydale cheese their favourites. Dara, Nadolig Llawen, Merry Christmas in Welsh from Wales, Peter
OK, I have to ask an ignorant question... what is a WAXED JACKET?! Never heard of it! I know the kind of jacket you are talking about. Definitely fit for all kinds of brutal winter weather! Oh yes, I know Wensleydale cheese from Wallace & Gromit! Funny, it is one of the most popular British cheeses here in the US... probably next after Cheddar!
Barbour jackets are expensive and very much a status symbol. Often worn with equally expensive Barbour green wellington boots (wellies). The fabric has a wax coating in order to water proof it. They were initially marketed for field sports, i.e., hunting, shooting and fishing but were eventually more widely used by farmers and other all seasons outdoor workers because of their. durability.
@@MagentaOtterTravelsDara, I'm not sure what the wax is but it keeps the water from seeping through. You can have Barbour "re-wax/grease" your jacket and repair your jacket for a fee, not a small fee.
To me Aldi Christmas Ad is the one to beat like every year since they brought Kevin the Carrot into there Christmas Ads in 2016!! The Coca-Cola Christmas Ad is always the same, they never change it, but all of the UK knows when Christmas is here every year when the Coca-Cola Christmas Ad comes up on the TV!!
I do think the Coke ad is rather boring. And yes, Kevin the carrot is brilliant once again! This year's ad was so full of puns and inside jokes. It was great!
I always love these videos!! Love your commentary! Especially since you’re an expert in marketing!! Happy holidays to you and your beautiful family Dara! 🩷
Hi Dara, I know, late again! I noticed in the JD Sports ad. where the young guy took the old man's hand and touched it to his forehead. Didn't know it was a 'thing' in the UK, but here in the Philippines it a traditional way to greet your older relatives. My son does it, sometimes, when he comes home from school, (not every time). My partner's brother was here last week with his two-year-old son and if you hold out your right hand and say 'Bless' he takes your hand and touches it to his forehead.
That is so interesting! Thank you for teaching me about that tradition. I think Indian people do something similar with touching the foot or hem of the garment of an elder as they greet them, as a sign of respect?
My two favourite things about Ryan are that he is SO naturally funny... I love watching his talk show interviews! And that he is such a dedicated family man. He and Blake are admirable parents.
I loved the Shawn ad. Barbour are a NE based manufacturer of quality outdoor clothing. They are suppliers to the royal family. Probably their most famous outerwear are their waxed cotton jackets that are really weatherproof and last forever. Wasn’t the conversion from a patched jacket to an intact one Christmas magic at work? I also liked the M&S advert. They almost all make one feel very Christmassy!
Hiya Dara, ASDA is an acronym of Associated Dairies, just to let you know, my favorite was the Raccoon advert, yesterday a robin landed on our window sill, so Mam gave the robin some garlic bread, I know its nothing to do with your adverts, but I think its a nice story to tell you, I hope You, Ian , Trent and Weston have a merry Christmas and a happy new year, Say Dara, What's your favorite Christmas song? mine is either Step Into Christmas by Elton John, Last Christmas by Wham, December will be magic again by Kate Bush or Going home for Christmas by Chris Rea, I cant decide, hopefully you'll have a P.O Box when you come back to Cheltenham, I'll definitely send you some goodies, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
I had no idea that's how ASDA got its name! Interesting. I loved your story about the robin... so sweet! My son Weston really loves birds. Especially feeding them. He built bird boxes for his Eagle Scout project. I've not really thought about my favourite Christmas song before! I think I'd say O Come, O Come Emmanuel. That's a pretty one. No need to send us goodies, Choppy. Thanks for the offer, but your comments are all the treat we need ;-) Merry Christmas! Dara & Ian
@@MagentaOtterTravelsHiya Dara, that's no bother, the robin is at our kitchen window every morning, we like feeding the Robin instead of them horrible seagulls.
@@MagentaOtterTravels I got to 'He built bird boxes for his Eagle' and I thought 'What?! Weston has an EAGLE??!!' then I read the rest of the sentence. 🦅😂😂
Aaaaaaah, thank you for pointing that out! Now that you say it, it's obvious. I knew there had to be a connection to Never Gonna Give you up, but I didn't catch it! Cheers! Dara
I love hearing that! We have such a problem with "fast fashion". It's wonderful to hear that some articles of clothing do the job and keep on doing it for decades
Barbour are well known for high quality long lasting waxed country clothing, so the repairs & maintenance appeals to their target clientele, either genuine country folk or the well-off city dweller who wishes to emulate country style for weekends and holidays there. The M&S ad is as usual pretty good, but there’s another that has caused some controversy & has had to be doctored a little to try and repair some of the damage & offence it has caused amongst some of it core customers (including me, quite frankly), although maybe I’ll still visit my nearest store, although possibly not multiple times as I would have in previous years. The Lidl ad is quite good & I already visited recently & will undoubtedly visit again soon. Funnily enough I’ve never cared for Aldi much, but may visit in the next week or so. As you say one of the best ads of previous years was Sainsbury’s in 2014 & this year’s effort is not too bad, as it’s my main local supermarket I visit often.
I'd be curious to know what you find different about Lidl vs. Aldi. I've only shopped at them a couple times and am still learning about both stores...
Hi Dara. Of course Aldi are channelling the original Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory from '71 with Gene Wilder rather than the inferior Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from '05 with Johnny Depp :-) From William the Conker (Willy Wonker/ William the Conquerer) and his forward roll at the start to the way each of the bad children is 'dealt with' it's all the '71 film. Never seen the Barbour (pronounced as in ...shop quartet) ad but I loved it. There is a hierarchy to Barbour jackets: new ones are worn by Sloans who drive Chelsea Tractors and never go near the countryside, old ones are worn by people who actually work in the countryside like farmers and poachers and really tatty ones that are falling apart are worn by people who own the countryside like Lords and Ladies, and Royalty!
Thank you for telling me how to pronounce Barbour! I had no clue 🤣. I loved the Gene Wilder version of Charlie and the chocolate factory! I own a copy of the film. Such a classic! 💖 and I love all the little nods to that movie. Hey, I just realised the connection with the fart joke they made about the brussels sprouts! I forgot about the gassiness scene in Charlie and the chocolate factory with Charlie and his grandpa!
Very started of as Littlewoods, a catalogue shopping company and was rebranded as Very. They also bought the Woolworth brand when they went bust over here. They used the Woolworth name for their online store for a while, but they changed it to Very too.
There's a major issue with the Lidl as and that's we don't get raccoons in the UK. A fox would be more apt as a urban wildlife creature! Barbour make upmarket waxed jackets.
I had never heard of waxed jackets until I published this video! You are right about the raccoon ad. To be relevant to Britain, it definitely should have been foxes 🦊! It was probably made for the German and the American market. There are loads of raccoons in the states, and apparently they've become an invasive species in Germany now as well
@@MagentaOtterTravels I think Gore-Tex has mostly replaced waxed jackets. I had a Davy Crocket racoon hat when I was little. I loved that hat. Wouldn't go anywhere without it. 🦝🥰
You're right, the Raccoon doesn't belong in a UK ad. They have been in Germany since the 1930's, where they are called the Waschbär (bear that washes) but they are an invasive species there. The only place they truly belong is North America.
Disney obviously wants to save some money especially as all pay to view services are really suffering of late, hence why it’s handy to have one that can be used in multiple places!
Its me from Wales again, I was watching a few things on TH-cam that you and your husband might be interested in, give them a try if you want too. the first is, SENSATIONAL Welsh Male Choir Has Judges In TEARS In Britain's Got Talent Audition 2023. The second one is a welsh very moving song, Only Boys Aloud - The Welsh choir's Britain's Got Talent 2012 audition - UK version. Let me know what you think.
@jeanlongsden1696 There have been pet raccoons in the UK that have escaped into the wild. Thankfully, they were neutered at the time of importation. That said, I have just checked the video, and the cars are driving on the right, and the street sign is not one of ours. It is not unusual for companies to use the same advert in multiple countries. Nearly every car advert shown in the UK depicts a driver in the left seat.
@@jeanlongsden1696 Ian's theory is that the ad was filmed for the German market, and they're just using it globally. That's the beauty of those TV commercials which don't have dialogue 😉
Although I enjoyed the Lidl advert, it felt a little less aimed at the UK as we don’t have raccoons in this country. They are native to North America, and were also released in mainland Europe, so perfect for people in those areas, but so much for us. Sweet advert, regardless.
Hiya. You forgot to mention that Ryan Reynolds is CO-owner and CO-chairman of Wrexham with actor Rob McElhenney, which is probably why it's Rob providing the voice for the other mitten of the pair. Also, Ryan sold Aviation Gin for $610 million, netting $120 million for himself. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Thanks so much for setting me straight and sharing that additional context! I did not do my research and confirm that the other mitten was Rob. Sorry, Rob! Also, like so many people... I can't remember how to pronounce his last name! LOL Ryan even did a hilarious video about educating people on how to say Rob's name ;-)
From the UK. Sorry I can't agree with your comments on Coca Cola; Santa Clause has been more or less as depicted, but in the UK he was thus before any Coke Ad or any American Ad. However, that's a moot point. Sadly, what you see here are almost entirely American ADs made for the British consumer. Coke, Boots TK Maxx are all American, while those such as Lidle and others are using American-style advertising with American voices and American singers - apart from Michael Buble woi is Canadian! Barbour and Very are both British online companies, and it's good to note that their advertising is mostly UK orientated. Shaun the sheep is a famous cartoon character created by Nick Park, who also created the Wallace & Grommet videos and films - very, very British! All of his characters are made with modelling clay and positioned frame by frame.. Bailey's is another version of Irish Coffee, a blend of whiskey and coffee - bottled! Unfortunately, British Ada have greatly diminished over the years, while the Americans have virtually taken over. Like Canada, Britain has become another American State - at lest in terms of everything commercial. So, as if you hadn't guessed, I'm not particularly festive towards the US business model. Having said that, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Boots ad was American?! It's a British brand and the ad seemed very British to me... You didn't point out that the Lidl ad featured a RACOON which is very American. For a British version they should have used a sneaky urban red fox ;-) MERRY CHRISTMAS! All the best to you and yours. Dara
Yes, lovely girl, Boots WAS a great British Brand, but it's been American-owned for years - as are many of our old British Brands. However, as I did say American-owned but tailored for the British Public. Sadly, Britain has become almost an American State, with American junk food "eateries" in every town McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Frankie & Benny's, Holland & Barratt, Dolland & Aicheson, Walmart, Spacesavers, Superdrug, TKMaxx... with Subway in almost every UK hospital, train station, bus station ans at least 2-3 in every major town. When it comes to foodstuffs, all of our major supermarkets and grocery stores are jammed with American foods. When we come to hygeine, just name the product and it's American - from toothpastee to body creams, to hair care and body creams, to the bulk of our medicines and drugs. Virtually all of our former brands of confectionary, soft drinks (Sodas to you) and snacks (crisps) etc have all been taken over by Coca Cola and Pepsi - famous brands like Cadbury's, Fry's. Mackintosh's, Schweppes, Doritos, Walkers, McCoy's...even our heatinf and cooking gas is now shipped over from the US. So you can see that the bulk of our advertising is not British, but American. Just take any brand you care to name and look uo the owners - and I haven't even come close to naming more than a few!!
M&S sponsor Wrexham FC and have just opened a new store nearer the football ground. One of the execs at M&S is either tied to, or is from Wrexham, hence the connection...
Did you know that the abbreviation 'Xmas' is very old and didn't just start with TV commercials? Word Oeigins: "Christmas," 1551, X'temmas, wherein the X is an abbreviation for Christ in Christmas, English letter X being identical in form (but not sound signification) to Greek chi, the first letter of Greek Christos "Christ" (see Christ). The earlier way to abbreviate the word in English was Xp- or Xr- (corresponding to the "Chr-" in Greek Χριστος), and the form Xres mæsse for "Christmas" appears in the "Anglo-Saxon Chronicle" (c. 1100).
Thanks for the history lesson! I used to think it was bad to abbreviate it as Xmas because I thought it was "taking Christ out of Christmas" but now I do it when I'm lazy because, like the fish, it really does symbolise Christ.
@@MagentaOtterTravels By the time I wrote 'Chr..' on the live chat the conversation had moved on to the next ad so I had to change to Xmas. I'm still only a one finger typist even after 30 years of owning computers. 😂
I wish we had this culture of entertaining good Christmas ads here! 😢 Here it is all about: you are only happy and spend the most wonderful time if you buy XYZ for Christmas 🤷♀
Lot of work went into that Aldi ad although a carrot never features on my Christmas Dinner! Mmm, Sainsburys beef wellington looks nice, well done Rick Astley cameo. I mean Disney is a gift id actually buy a friend or family member but this advert didn’t inspire me. The JD Sports advert will probably leave me with night terrors and guarantee I don’t visit a City anytime soon. I’m not young or hip either, massive miss for me! A llama with magenta slippers! 😂 cracking advert. Mmm, Baileys, I do indulge at Christmas only. Ah Coca Cola, the all time best advert ever right? All time winner and the creator of the Santa we grew up with. Unbeatable. Without Coca Cola we would all be stuck with the horrible Krampus, what a thought! Ah Boots, this will probably be there last ever Christmas advert. I’ve been back to backing Wilcos ads to see our last casualty. Will Boots survive 2024? Almost certainly not. Not a bad swan song from the dying Boots. Loved the music! I like that the product focused on something you would pick up from an airport store. In all probability the only Boots that will be left will be those on airport terminals.
@@MagentaOtterTravelsit’s a shame for a lot of our high street favourites. I do love Boots, they do great stocking filler gift sets and perfumes. I hope they are able to save some stores.
Aldi yet again has the best Christmas Ad as its still futuring Kevin the Carrot and he's even got friends with this years Christmas Ad, well done Aldi!
Father Christmas lives in lapland not the North Pole😉 , another American import. Another great vid from you 👍But why do Lidl use a US ad in the UK? Shoddy, I think I'll go to Aldi instead.
This years UK Lidl ad has provoked comments because we don't have racoons here. Perhaps they thought a mangy urban fox (we've got loads of those) scavenging the bins wasn't cute enough
I think it is meant to be a global advert... don't know if they filmed it with the US or Germany in mind. But yes in Britain it should definitely be a sneaky red fox!
@@MousePotato we will be here in Texas, and our sons are flying in from Utah and Massachusetts to be with us! Looking forward to having us all together! Merry Christmas to you as well!
I didn't think the Disney one was very Christmassy, it didn't mention Christmas, only holiday we call Christmas, Christmas, not holiday, although we do have a holiday from work and school. Didn't like the JD Sports one either, loved Kevin the Carrot and TK Maxx,. IT'S CHRISTMAS mention CHRISTMAS not holiday, it's sounds strange, every religion has its spacial time, let us have ours. The Coca-Cola ad could have been from any year over the last 30 years as it's always the same song and Santa trucks driving along. The John Lewis Ads were always excellent. They've apparently changed as company and it's the worst ad I've ever seen - really weird. It's a child planting a seed for a Christmas tree and it grows into an all singing praying mantis. It gets chucked outside and then the whole family goes outside to cover it in tinsel and baubles. Talk about the ad execs must have been on acid - really trippy. I loved the TkMaxx, Aldi, Boots, Barbour & Lidl. The Lidl one was the oddest for a British Ad, as Raccoons are not native to Britain, but cute all the same.
I agree that the Coca-Cola ad was predictable and kind of boring. I did see the John Lewis ad and found it very disappointing versus the amazing ads they've had in the past! I didn't include it in this video because of the copyright music. I thought the TK Maxx ad was so fun because the music was wonderful, it had cute animals, and it seemed both Christmasy and relevant to the brand being advertised!

I remember when it came out in the mid 1980s and the cheap sods have used it every year since. Cocoa-Cola trade marked Santa Claus in 2002. In Britain prior to the 1920s and the eventual rise of the Coca-Cola Santa Claus figure, for centuries Father Christmas was the Christmas figure and wore green. He was from the legends of the Green Man which date back before the 2nd century AD. Another character, Saint Nicholas was a real 4th Century AD Greek Bishop who distributed gifts and wore red robes is celebrated in Europe on 6th December. When I lived in Spain, every year a boat would sail into the harbour with Saint Nicholas and his assistant Black Pete, a Moor, and distributed presents for the crowds of local children.

I like the Sainsbury! Grabbed attention form get go, POV of a child wondering...perfect. Cameo appearance, and straight to the point. The Aldi was too long for a grocery ad in my opinion. The Disney ad was a sales ad not a Christmas ad. Adidas ad-audience= young . Liked the Baileys-straight to the point..and I LOVE some Baileys. Dara-you have got to try some in coffee. soooo good. Coke-traditional ad. that conjures images for me-from the 80s Xmas Americana. Boots and Sainsbury-my favorites. I love the fact that Boots thought about 'serving others...giving to others'. And I liked the hints of humor. M & S-I really like the play on words. Lidl-every kid will love this.
I disagree with you about the Aldi Ad being to long, there's something wrong with you, there was a few long Christmas ads this year but you only pointed out Aldis?, to be Aldi has the best Christmas ad again as it's Kevin the Carrot and Thai year he's got friends that joined him!!
@@cjsvids8760 I don't think it's fair to say "there's something wrong" with her! She's an American and is not used to the fact that British adverts are often two minutes long. That's really unusual for an American commercial. Literally unheard of.

I’m glad M&S are focusing on their food, in previous years they pushed their under performing clothing brands. The sooner M&S focuses slowly on food and ditches their other lines the more stores and jobs they will save. The LIDL advert was lovely but I didn’t get much of a connection with the store. Probably on the middle aisle if the teddy is in store! Sounds like the raccoons and feral cats never went hungry in San Antonio! Dum dum der dum dum? Will it still be ASDA price? Well it had the Buble but not the signature noise. A nice magenta very advert. Never heard of them! Do Barbour need to advertise? I thought their products sell themselves! It’s a super high class clothing that you find in very middle class affluent market towns. The only people wearing it are people going for brunch in the country! But it’s essential clothing in that regard! Coca Cola all the way for us. Without that long standing ad we wouldn’t have Christmas as we all know it. Glad they bring a new advert out each year! Amazing work and compilation though! Loved this ❤

@@MagentaOtterTravelswe love Dawn French too. They are really flogging a dead horse with the clothing lines. Where M and S stores have closed its always because of there proximity to much better clothing retailers.
I don't actually care if M&S goes bust tomorrow because they're a rip off, I'd rather shop in Aldi where there own brand products actually tastes as good as the big brand products does for a cheaper price, even Co-op own brand products are better than M&S products because Co-op doesn't think they're better than anyone else like M&S does!!, all the own supermarkets brand food and drinks actually comes from the same Factories believe it or not, but M&S still think there food is better, how can it be if it all comes from the same Factories, when there own brandes alcohol, gin and even M&S Colin The Csterbiller Cake comes from the same factory as all the other supermarkets own brand Csterbiller cakes does, M&S didn't invent anything, they like to think they do, but they don't!!
I can honestly say the adverts this year weren't as good as the past ones, especially the anticipated John Lewis one....there was a programme on last week about the past 30 years of Christmas adverts and they were so much better.

You say you’ve followed the Christmas adverts over the years from both sides of the pond, well Texas anyway! I take it you’ve noticed that adverts in the UK are now starting a trend where the advert doesn’t highlight a particular product but they make a good emotional story an nothing to do with selling anything!!! It does however leave you knowing the outlet or producers of the emotional video!!!! Hence the whole of TH-cam knows John Lewis as the premier Christmas Video to watch over the holiday period don’t you think??? (It now seems a umber of producers have learned that lesson hence Aldi and the carrot)
Yes, I agree. I talked about that in last year's video because I compared US and UK ads... you can see that the American ads are trying to sell something! The British adverts seem more intent on storytelling and making you FEEL something: th-cam.com/video/jmTr8Gg8fR0/w-d-xo.html

Enjoyed seeing the British Commercials, Dara and Ian. The racoon wins our vote! Merry Christmas to you and your whole family!
I really liked the raccoon one too, though I doubt that one was really a British ad.

I LOVED the TK Maxx advert. The animals were adorable, the people were sweet and the music was so fun!
Often worn with equally expensive
Barbour green wellington boots (wellies). The fabric has a wax coating in order to water proof it. They were initially marketed for field sports, i.e., hunting, shooting and fishing but were eventually more widely used by farmers and other all seasons outdoor workers because of their. durability.
@@maryandrews4097 interesting! That's why they dripped wax on the jacket in the advert!

Aw, thanks so much, Sueanne! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! XX
M & S ad was great too! Ryan Reynolds is always entertaining.
I had never heard of a waxed jacket before I did this video. Every day is a school day!

I have seen 3 ASDA/Bublé ads so far. I think they are putting a new one out each week.
have you seen the Waitrose Christmas ad yet Dara?
Yes, I LOVED the Waitrose advert! But sadly it had copyright music, so I decided to omit it from this video ;-)
You are great at reaction videos. Please do more.
Ugh, I just hate them! But I will never say never ;-)
Yep my thoughts exactly. I was in Asda today and it looked nothing like that.
Right?! 🤣

Haha, he was an altruistic Lidl scamp ;-) Merry Christmas, Gerry!
I don't get it! why is there a raccoon running around in the UK?
@MagentaOtterTravels That was my first thought, but the partially obscured street sign appears to say Rocky Road not Rocky Straße.
Although I enjoyed the Lidl advert, it felt a little less aimed at the UK as we don’t have raccoons in this country. They are native to North America, and were also released in mainland Europe, so perfect for people in those areas, but so much for us. Sweet advert, regardless.
Yes, it was more American than British for sure. For Britain, it should have been a shifty red fox sneaking around the city rummaging through bins ;-)
Hiya. You forgot to mention that Ryan Reynolds is CO-owner and CO-chairman of Wrexham with actor Rob McElhenney, which is probably why it's Rob providing the voice for the other mitten of the pair. Thanks so much for setting me straight and sharing that additional context! I did not do my research and confirm that the other mitten was Rob. Sorry, Rob! Also, like so many people... I can't remember how to pronounce his last name! LOL
Ryan even did a hilarious video about educating people on how to say Rob's name ;-)
only ad i remember was on during the half time football - Switch off. Drift off. This is New EE. Not very festive though.

Ah, nice!
Did you know that the abbreviation 'Xmas' is very old and didn't just start with TV commercials?
Word Oeigins:
"Christmas," 1551, X'temmas, wherein the X is an abbreviation for Christ in Christmas, English letter X being identical in form (but not sound signification) to Greek chi, the first letter of Greek Christos "Christ" (see Christ).

The Coca-Cola ad could have been from any year over the last 30 years as it's always the same song and Santa trucks driving along. The John Lewis Ads were always excellent.
Yes I liked Sainsbury’s and Boots. I think I just have a soft spot for talking animals and animation 🤣.
Sorry to disappoint you but I don't drink coffee and I also don't drink alcohol, so you'll have to have my share of the Baileys in coffee 😉. Merry Christmas!
But wait, you missed the ........... ad.
I know, you missed John Lewis!😉
I do not understand the JD ad.
I agree. I didn't understand the point... go buy something and save their plastic bag?? Weird.
Loved this ❤
You are very kind! For the record, M&S also had a clothing advert this year! But of course I choose to watch the food ads! Lol
I love Dawn French, and like that they have a tradition of using her in the ads.
Yes, this was not the best year... I agree.
The Coca Cola ad has been the same for a few years now.
Yes, it's a bit boring and predictable.
Magenta otter purple cheese channel..
There was quite a bit of magenta in the Christmas adverts this year! And cheese of course!
@@MagentaOtterTravels the more magenta the merrier …
@@MagentaOtterTravels there was no cheese Dara you presented it well..
@@MagentaOtterTravels the Corker Caller truck is coming to downtown Brummingham today Saturday December the 9th….until 8 PM……part of the UK tour..Hurrah !
We can't mention Jesus in the UK anymore even on Xmas.
@@allankirk1128 🥺😢
My initial reaction to the John Lewis ad...It's machete time, Caution keep sharp objects away from young chldren PS did you know A) they've chosen to call the Monstrous Tree the Snapper B) some deranged executive has decided to sell 'cutesy' stuffed toy versions of said Monster for Christmas OMfG atb Dara Bill
I did not include that advert in this video... because of the copyright music .
I didn't like it as much as usual. The only thing I liked was thinking about when my son Trent was the lead in Little shop of horrors! That is a fun memory 🤩
@MagentaOtterTravels Ah I understand the copyright bit but I did find it intensely creepy
@@misolgit69 yes, I thought it was odd! Not their usual inspiring or heartstring tugging advert!
