    Karl, I think it’s awesome that you are having Josh learn and help you. The quality of father son time is great, Im looking forward to completion of your sim and seeing Josh in the left seat flying a commercial airliner. I have a feeling there is a commercial pilot career in Josh’s future! Great job Josh, you are so fortunate to have a father like yours. It’s important to get good grades in school and plan for a four year degree. Thanks again Karl!

    Hi, best source of information from your youtube guide. I have a question on the green board 7 segment display. I know that there are 7 segment digits which are 0.28 mm and beyond. Are the green boards specific to certain sizes only? I intend to get hold of a 7 segment green board and 0.28 digits. Will they just fit or do i need to look out for something else? • @Mickeys_Flightdeck
    @Mickeys_Flightdeck 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, a lot of explaining. I hope I could follow most of it. You now need three pins to control the displays. But you will need a pin for every button and witch you have in there. Is thsi correct or is there also a daysi chain possibility in mobiflight?

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mickey, The ground to every switch, LED can be daisy chained, but a dedicated line will be required to the Ardunio for each component. This is why the cable looms become very big, very quickly. i have not worked it out properly yet, but you need the full 52 lines on one Ardunio, and between 6-10 on an another Ardunio mega. Last time i used the second Ardunio for the EFIS panels, but hard wired them. This means i can longer remove the MCP with removing EFIS. Rubbish! I will need to correct that by fitting removable connectors for ease.

    Hello Heli! You've inspired me to start back building a full simulator! I have a question for you. What is your main sim being used? and also what program and aircraft add-on are you using to program all components? Is ProSim its own aircraft add-on like the PMDG? Or do you use PMDG alongside with Prosim737? looking forward to your response.

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello AviationTalk, I currently using P3D and Prosim's 737 flight model. This provides the correct flight dynamics, the visual is just the forward view without any instruments or windows. Perfect for sim building. I am also using MSFS2020, but strange things are currently happening when I try to run my sim through it. But as you know, the graphics are awesome.
      I also believe PMDG 737 and Prosim can run together as they interfere. PMDG was what I used to start with, then progressed onto Prosim when I knew I wanted to go full hog!
      Of course, MobiFlight is the middle man proving all the interface programming.
      Hope that helps, great to hear from you.

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello again, in honest truth when I started, It was all guess work! I started off with the smallest byte, then kept increasing until it worked. Now the correct answer is all to with the actual number size you end up with. Numbers uptown 255 for one byte, 36464 Something for two bytes, and you have to increase a byte if its a bigger number than that. I will explain better on the website later. It also depends if it is a minus number too.

      Hi AlphaBravo1, It really depends on your software. If its PMDG then they are fixed. If you are using prosim, I would try the FSUIPC recommended offsets in the documentation, but then use mine if that doesn't work. You will probably already notice that i have two different offsets for the DIY MCP and my MCP. This is because the DIY MCP was just a test piece, but i used my own offsets in the full build. I started out at 5300 and used them sequentially as i needed. For me, as long as mobiflight and prosim have the same unused/unassigned offset, they work fine.
