    Awesome design, I may have to base my build off your idea! I love it! Can't wait to get my first saddle very soon!!

    Eventually the edges on the seat where the strap is will fray and tear the strap. Make sure to round that off and put some tape over them. Also go atound the seat frame not those short seat hangers. They will eventually snap as well.

    Awesome idea. Haven't been able to find a lone wolf assassin platform... But I think I like this idea better. Way cheaper for damn sure. Probably more secure...I dunno, but I'm giving this a shot. Thanks for the idea.

    Just need a bolt head with more surface area. Just add another small piece of aluminum flat stock to where the bolt touches.

    i no longer use the ears. I now use a Jim stepp type knot right on the platform... i sheared off one of the ears being over aggressive on the camming over. make sure you support the hollow tube so it does not dent with weight on it... i filled that part with bindi bondo. always keep a tether attached and tight.... Kept me from falling. i also add a second strap to mine when I'm at height

    you can order a replacement seat from lone wolf just tell them you need a replacement for an Assualt stand

    Very nice platform! However, with all due respect, I would run my webbing through differently gaining more friction through the platform itself. Over time, with many times camming over the seat to lock it in place, the ears will develop tiny stress fractures and eventually fail.

      we've already gone that route and made that suggestion over a year ago.... lots of updates on saddlehunter.com. The new Tether'd platform kind of makes these DIYS obsolete.

    I just ordered the seat, and v brackets from lonewolf. I ordered a couple versa buttons and a couple straps as well... Just to tinker with some different ideas. Can you tell me the size of the solid aluminum stock you ordered, and where you ordered it from?

    The deer will hear it pop in place also. Good idea though.

      I used it and never had a deer hear it. But this is a long time ago I now use the Tethrd Predator platform.

    can you buy just that top piece from LW? I love this and have a saddle already, but I also wanna keep my Lone Wolf intact. I want to build something similar to this.

    Hi Dave, I’m in the process of making one of these myself. What strap did use in this video? And also kind rope are you using for a Jim Stepp knot?

    • @davetoms63
      @davetoms63  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shane Rosalez the strap was a lone wolf strap. I no longer use out or recommend them for this purpose [with a versa button ok]. I'm personally using samson ultratek (smallest size) or 1/4 inch amsteel blue.

      3 years ago yes. I had one break so used the platform itself. I now use the Predator platform now.

      @@davetoms63 thank you.
      I will see if they have some. Those are more open than any LW I have seen.
      That is one big reason I went with beast stiks. Better bite, less kick out.

    • @LuisSanchez-lu4cu
      @LuisSanchez-lu4cu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure enough there they are.
      On your video they lay nice on the tree.
      I had the sticks and they were very narrow I thought. Did they redesign these in the last 5 years?
      Good jod on your videos!

    Tree saddle hunting is sooooo uncomfortable

    • @davetoms63

      I disagree, when you get it dialed in it's far more comfortable than a traditional lock on stand
