What I do is first i use a rag with water to make the balldamp then take spray adhesive the kind in a aerosol can and spray it in a way to mist the ball and because the ball is already damp from the water it helps that adhesive work into the pores of the leather
just got my wilson omega football, i dont have any leather conditioner or tack spray. it came with a brush but what else should i do before using ?? i spent $150 on it plus shipping so i'd like to have it last a long time but still perform well
Honestly I would just stick to the brush and I didn’t put anything on my Wilson omega. It broke it naturally and actually feels pretty good. I recommend throwing the ball in wet grass like we mentioned in this video. Will help get the stick off
Hey coach just got the gst and also the like Wilson leather conditioner to preserve it. If you’ve used this or something similar would you recommend using it and does it have any like negatives like making the ball hard to grip?
So, you say to throw it around in the dew, and what I’ve heard is that getting the football wet is damaging to the leather. I live in Washington where the grass is consistently wet 8 months of the year, is it okay for me to throw it around in he wet grass or will it be destroyed?
I don’t think so if it’s brand new. Reason why I say the “dew” is because it’s a little sticky and can give some grip. That’s probably the last resort if you don’t want to pay for a wax kit or mudding the ball.
Omega looks interesting. Regrettably, it's sold out everywhere. Hopefully they learned a lesson from the GST Prime and didn't smooth out the pebbles on the W logo.
Hey Coach, I was thinking since you were talking about how skidding is another way to break in a football, but can you just get a warm, damp towel to just get as much wax as you can and then condition it through just playing catch?
For me it didn’t. Naturally broke that one in & it still feels really good. I’ve had it for about a year now. Haven’t done anything to that ball- that’s the one positive about it.
I recently purchased a Nike Vapor Elite from Big Game USA. It's my first leather ball too. Are leather footballs supposed to be firmer than composite balls even after they are broken in? I have nothing to compare it to since I have never had a leather football before. A lot of my teammates on my football team are displeased with how hard and slick it is. What are your thoughts?
That’s totally normal. It just needs some time to break it in more. You can also send it to a company to have them “wax it” or “mud it”- I think that’s your best bet
Hey bro i been watching your videos for a little bit and was wondering my duke football pebbling is starting to come off and just wanna know if thats bad or not because its not feeling as grippy and dont know what to do

Thanks! Didn’t want to break mine in and was worried ball wouldn’t last as long. Good to know you can just start playing
i just got one, what did u end up doing? hows the ball?

No the Wilson conditioner is good-that’s one of my favorites to be honest

If your interested I uploaded a quick video on how I prep my leather footballs easy fast and cheap
I’ll check it out
$25 worth of mud will do at least 5 balls if not 8. If you don't want it "too grippy" then don't wait too long to brush it off.
Thank you for the insight 🤝🤝
I have some more questions I need to ask you about the Wilson Omega. how can I contact you?

Yeah absolutely man! That can definitely work
i personally like mudding my footballs but mostly bc the process softens the leather imo. 200 iq for the dew tip tho im gonna try that out next time 🔥
Yessir hope this can help. Appreciate you watching
I need to ask you a question. does the Wilson Omega need breaking in or not?(it’s really troubling me.)

Honestly I think it’s just from the ball being older- but if you like it, there is nothing wrong with it
Do you have to break in a composite leather foot ball?
No, generally those are fine when they arrive
Thank you I love your videos you are my favourite TH-camr
Can I use shaving gel?
Yes that works totally fine, not the biggest fan of it personally but it can work. A lot of guys like it
@@firstdowntraining bro you are like the best at giving tips and stuff like thank you :)

No problem at all- hope this can help!
Is the Wilson omega the same size as the duke?
It’s a little thinner, the duke weighs a bit more I believe.
I really didn't know there was a specific way break in a new football i always just got it and threw it i had no idea
Yessir hope this video could help!
Why every time after so long the football gets slippery
Do you mean like after you buy it after a while it gets slippery?
