Sorry about that crazy man. It is possible that he was an Afghan refugee who came to Pakistan in the 70s after the soviet invasion. There are around 4 million Afghan refugees here in Pakistan and a small number of them blame Pakistan and America for the state of their country. Pakistan has started taking action against these refugees who spew hate speech against the state and have started to deport them back to Afghanistan. He can't say anything about Pakistan anymore so sadly he made you a target. Or he could be a native Pakistani who lost family in the US drone strikes; these are the only 2 types of people here in Pakistan that have anti west sentiments. But they are an extreme minority and I'm surprised you even met one. Having said that, however much hatred they have against the west, they know how to differentiate between people and their governments so you aren't in any danger. Enjoy the rest of your trip, and if you want to experience the best hospitality in Pakistan, visit Peshawar!

Also most of the people seemed very friendly and welcoming. The locals seemed very hospitable and welcoming to tourists.

Don't know about the white shirt but the lowest price I saw of similar quality as that blue shalwar/qamees suit was 5-6 years ago from now at PKR.3000 or PKR.3500 if I recall correctly (was accompanying my father & cousin for Eid shopping).

As an American I hate to agree with the gentleman in the market but he wasn't lying. All of the "1st" world superpowers (governments) are responsible for wars and strife. The citizens of these countries however are generally good and loving people who have no control over the atrocities committed by their leaders. If the entire world chose peace and mutual compassion for our fellow men and women it would be paradise.
As a Pakistani we are really sorry for what happened. We understand but not everyone is like that.
Every person should be respected regardless of faith and religion so we want world together and peace
