- In this Disney Lorcana gameplay video I play my Amethyst + Ruby Hyper Control deck on Pixelborn vs someone playing a great Sapphire + Steel Belle Ramp deck. I recorded this while working on a full deck guide but thought it deserved its own video - I hope you enjoy!

Quick little edit: My list runs 3x Gaston and 3x Friends otOS (mistake on the beginning graphic) That’s a total of 64 cards to help vs mirror matches or Mill decks. You can also run Brooms as an additional tech.

This game is a huge reason why I advocate for Ward Aurora in these lists it really protects your Belles in the Control Match up

I was wondering if aggro decks are bad for new players tho, i dont feel like im learning the game that well if i only play aggro. Thoughts?
I think there’s some logic there. Aggro wants a very specific and straightforward strategy, other decks might train your to choose carefully in a variety of different situations.

Consider a couple sword of truth. They hit the table and avoid AWNW. They come down a turn earlier. They allow you to use up excess ink. They have good targets in basically every deck. They also discourage particular lines of play encouraging mistakes.

Thanks! Ramp means gaining more than the usual +1 Ink per turn.
For now, Ink Ramp like this refers to a handful of Sapphire cards used to "ramp up" your inkwell fast:
Gramma Tala, Mickey Detective, One Jump Ahead, Fishbone Quill, and Belle.

These are great videos! Keep up the good work. Quick question, does the Ward ability protect from Be Prepared?
It does not.
It does not because Be Prepared does not make you “choose” a character.
No, Ward stops them from being targeted. Be Prepared just banishes all character, it does not target them.
Ward would stop Maleficent - Monstrous Dragon or Dragon Fire from banishing as those require a character to be chosen first.
He drew the nuts, if his deck can't beat yours with those draws then we have a big problem. He made a couple of mistakes, although you played very well, you should have lost this. At 10:45 why kill the Maleficent and not Aladdin, the Shiftable card. Which is a net -2 for him and then had to trade with his mickey to remediate the mistake, another -1. That is the win right there for him. Still, you played very well, although it is funny you complained about him drawing a whole new world, while you topdecked the Be prepared with the help of Cauldron haha. Nice game!

I prefer the Ruby ramp variety but the steel seems fun
Steel gives Sapphire the card draw it desperately needs. If they had Ruby instead of Steel and A Whole New World, their game would have ran out of steam much sooner.
Question: What are the advantages of playing steel with sapphire in the bell deck over Ruby? I'm new to the game so I'm learning, but is it mostly just for the card draw from A whole new world?
I feel like the deck should play some number of bodyguard characters for sure as well as maybe the big Aurora to give Belle Ward, if she's going to be your primary wincon. Just a noobs opinion. Lol
Yeah, Ramp decks want to ink a ton of cards in the early game, so you’ll likely dump your entire hand into the inkwell with Belle + Quill. AWNW is there to get them back. You can also play Sapphire/Amethyst to refill your hand but Steel is better because units like Hook/Eric/Tink can help you manage the early game while you ramp.

Already sounds like that blue steel deck, with minor alterations, is going to become meta and I am not looking forward to that lol. That's kind of my reservation with TCGs that are just getting started is there isn't as much play variety so when a certain strat arises, it can drain the fun when you see it again and again and again. Just a growing pain, I know, but as a TCG that seems to want to provide a MTG lite style of play that attracts a wider audience, I hope they don't get discouraged in casual organized play by killer combos like that.
Brand new to TCGs and haven’t played many games yet. Can someone explain how they won? Was it because the other player made it to the bottom of their deck, is that something you can win on?
Exactly: If a player must draw and the deck is empty, they lose. It’s called a deck out and if you want to see more strategies around this, watch my Mill Deck video that aims to win by forcing the opponent to draw all of their cards.
Can you give a bit of info on why you're running 66 cards and not the standard 60? This is the first TCG I have ever seen where competitive decks are running more than 60. Cheers
Two possibilities that I see. 1) The mulligan allows for more power plays to be added while mitigating risk as the first 7 could be replaced, and 2) the Emerald/Steel or Sapphire/Steel mill deck with A Whole New World has a more difficult time winning when players have more than 60 cards.
not my vid, but i'd assume it's because the deck draws so much deeper than most of the rest of the meta, so the extra cards are so you can win the long mirrors while also having more room for specific techs (not to mention the odd mill matchup)
I run 64 (check pinned comment) - it helps vs mirror matches and mil decks. Broom is also a tech option for the same reason.
You’re right though, without a good reason, you shouldn’t run more than the required 60 because it dilutes your deck.

Newbie here, I must have completely missed it, but how did get the last 14 points to win the game?
If a player must draw but their deck is empty, they lose. So I managed to stall long enough for this to work against the opponent in this game.

We saw 14 cards for Steel/Sapphire. Assuming that player played 4-ofs over everything, it's pretty easy to make the list.
Don't know what the 15th playset is. Was probably inked with Quill or One Jump Ahead.
Sazabi has that eagle eye. One card they didn’t run that they needed was 5-cost Aurora, could have saved them the game

You can play on TTS or fan-made digital versions. This game was on Pixelborn.
Definitely need some updates. Without a few Brooms you will start losing the mirror matches more, and with the midrange purple grey decks packing 4 Beast, you will lose tempo when they blow up your Mirrors
I do think broom is an additional tech, but this list does do well into mirrors. I’ll be covering this in the full guide!

Wow had he just cannon your Aladdin's instead of your malifecent you'd have lost. That's why I disagree that pr is the best deck just that the best players have.groupd to it
I just never see a point dumping more than 10 ink. Literally no point.
There are so many reasons. Elsa + Aladdin + Watch is a huge moment on 16. At 19 you can do the combo while playing watch. At 22 you can add in a Shield to hit 2. Often you’ll need +3 ink for the Broom/Befuddle loop. Knowing these break points is key to playing with or against Am/Ru control.
ngl i think thats so obnoxious and ill just wait till the deck decks out lol. this deck doesnt work against someone who stalls. and i've never seen anyone playing that ramp deck use anything that cost 8 or more.
