The character design is quite different from each series, because it's not the same character designer Arland and also other Gust games like Blue Reflection (Mel Kishida) Dusk (Hidari, this person also worked on Fire Emblem Echoes, so maybe that's why the more "mature" style). When watching on of your previous videos I started googling which Atelier game to start with, so naturally I clicked on this video as soon as it popped up. Thanks so much for the info! I think I will give Ryza a try eventually. I've been meaning to for a couple years now and have not yet found the time. I'd say it's on my backlog except I haven't actually bought it yet. Right now my JRPG of choice is Octopath 2 and I am loving it.
The Atelier series is a good refresh game after a long game. Maybe after Octopath 2, you fit it in there if needed. Then again Octopath 2 is a great game and very rich in content so I can see why you wanna get through it first.
@@MandyleePlays I had a similar thought namely because I can't think of much coming out in March that appeals to me, so it's good to know it would fit in well there. At the same time, that gap might be good for finishing up a couple of playthroughs of DA:I (yes I have two different playthroughs neither of which is complete that I sometimes alternate between) or revisiting Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. Hard to say. I'll see what headspace I am in at the end of Octopath. Regardless, I think 2023 is my year to see what Atelier has to offer.
I love this series! I started with the Dusk trilogy, Arland, and now the Mysterious trilogy. I just beat Atelier Sophie 1 and now playing Lydia and Suelle. They are very fun and relaxing to me. Atelier Ryza 1&2 and Sophie 2 are sitting on my shelf waiting for me to play them. Hold on, I’m coming!😊
Great video! I I'm currently playing Ryza 2. I beat the first Ryza game last year. After playing about 10 hours, I purchased Ryza 2, Sophie 1, Sophie, 2, Dusk Trilogy, Lulua, and Blue Reflection Second Light. Very excited to dive more into the Atelier series and will be looking forward to your Ryza 3 review!
Thank you, this video was super helpful! Been really wanting to try this series but never have so far... the time has finally come. Thumbed up and subscribed!
My favorite game from the Atelier Series is Mana Khemia, but like you've said, it's so hard to find the earlier games! So I really really hope they decide to remake at least Atelier Iris, since that is the game that got me into the Atelier series and JRPGs in general.
Came late here, but thank you for the recommendations. I was really trying to figure out where to actually start since there's a sale going on on Steam.
I like to buy the physical games but do have some down loads I've always wanted to try the Atelier games and Ryza looks good as well as Sophie so be looking for the physical games to buy but some are on offer on eshop at the mo . Thanks for another brilliant video.
I got myself into the Atelier series through some of the most arguably weird routes you can take. Because I started off with the "Ar Tonelico" series, which was a more action oriented game based or at least developed in tantum with the Mana Khemia mechanics with a more complex and "meaningful" or classic JRPG story. Ar Tonelico also had a crafting system, but it was very neatly done and I was kind of fond of it. Most RPGs crafting mechanics are kind of garbage to be honest, so Ar Tonelico build in it's crafting into the story and the items were pretty useful ans to some degree customizable. Rewarding even. Naturally, after playing though AT, I stumbled upon Mana Khemia which was very familiar in it's style and VN like story telling, but more focused on the crafting and alchemy itself. This then sparked my interest for Atelier Iris where I took a quick glance at and decided to give the highly praised Atelier Ryza it's chance. I was actually conflicted at first if I should start with Ryza or Sophie, but went with Ryza due to graphics. Right now I'm playing Ryza 2 and I'm having a blast so far. I really love games where I can just chill out, take my time and do things at my own leisure. But I kind of want to get a bit more from a story perspective, which is why I think I'm going for Atelier Iris again after finishing the Ryza series. In general I think that - even though Atelier has a huge count to their game series - the games themselfes are kind of underappreciated, especially with a western audience. I know it sounds weird with 24 games in the series, but I still feel like that. Perhaps this stems from the fact that just one friend I know did actually play an Atelier game. At least I was able to con some people into playing Ar Tonelico, which they loved afterwards. Hm. They should also love Atelier if my understanding of how I came to like the series holds true, but no one is giving it a shot for real, I guess.
I've been meaning to try Ar Tonelico, but my means on how I should play is kind of limited. I don't have a PS2 or a PS3 😅. The same goes for Mana Khemia. Though with the Atelier Marie remake, I hope we get remakes of the older games down the line. I wanna try the older games before the Arland series, but inaccessibility is what holds me back. Though if you want to try another game made by Gust, you should look into Blue Reflection. It's a magical girl RPG series if you are into that. Doesn't have the alchemy mechanics like Atelier, but at least it a smooth sailing game that respects your time.
A newbie friendly intro on point. Really clear and informative on all points mentionned. Thanks to you for putting it out there for any wannabe alchemists. Juste one point on which i have to disagree : alchemy in a ryza is not more basic, or simple, as opposed to atelier sophie and the likes. It’s only my opinion but i feel like more « abstract « is the correct term. I get the enjoyment from that tetris like feeling in sophie, and the pleasure of solving that visual alchemy. However, alchemy in ryza is , in my opinion, way more complex and deeper, in that it gives way more options and choices to create a truly unique item (the way traits works, the way you are limited in the number of item you can use to create your own which is a puzzle in itself) whereas in sophie game (for instance) you end up with a very similar item to those made by other. I feel like player agency is kind of reduced in those cases. And also, the way ryza let you recycle your unused item and material through gems is a benediction that make you feel that none of your time is wasted and that everything you do will empower your skill as an alchemist, which i feel is a system missing from sophie (not quite finish the game yet, i might be wrong about that) Anyway, thank you for your hard Work , and i wish you the best 4 your channel and your atelier experience 😙
@MandyleePlays took the advice to try out Ryza. I'm having fun so far, with the largest threat being a scolding from mom, haha. Little bit frustrating how many invisible walls there are, even between 2 clearly walkable portions of the map. No young lady, you can not step down from those rocks, despite the drop being less than your vertical jump height. ????? Very minor gripe, but I found myself going "trials of mana would let me jump that, or walk there."
I like to think all the atlier games are connected....the same universe just different timelines and different locations maybe even same timelines but just different places in the world idk to me it's more comforting to think that there all part of the same universe anyway....game on!
I’ve been debating trying out Ryza for the longest time but keep going back and forth because I’m not sure I’ll like the alchemy mechanic. So this video was super helpful with where to start and what to expect! Kinda makes me wanna try it out!
Ryza is the best game for beginners in my opinion. No time limit, a very easy-to-understand alchemy system, and of course a fleshed-out tutorial. Though to be fair in the later portions of the game it can get a bit overwhelming, especially when making late-game items, but nothing like having a little bit of a challenge.
@@MandyleePlays I think you sold me on it! I love that it's a cozy game but still an RPG because I usually don't enjoy purely cozy games like animal crossing very much. I should probably get 2 before it sells out again, I think you mentioned a restocking of it in a recent video! Would you still say to start at the first game rather than the second?
Since the plot for all three Ryza games happens in order I would suggest playing the first game to get a sense of the world and characters. They all grow up throughout the games too.
Good video! I definitely agree on starting off with Ryza/Sophie 1 (I myself got into this series through Ryza), cause time limit in early atelier can be a bit daunting for new player.
Thanks, it's good to know that this video is receiving positively. Also, it's good to know that you started your Atelier journey off with a great game. Let me know how your journey is going 😊
Most people are starting with Rysa. My PC cant handle it and i first heard of atelier because food of dogs and bought Ayesha for the ps3, i just had a daughter and am willing to introduce her to gaming
I would recommend getting a Nintendo Switch since it’s the easiest way to play a majority of the games but starting with Ayesha is great ! Hope you and your daughter enjoy the game!
@@MandyleePlays Well, a switch is really expensive in Brazil. I keep my ps3 since 2015 when i got married and the girl is barelly born, she will took a while to start playing...
The other day I was just talking about games with a more chill atmosphere like Harvest Moon / rune factory and somehow ended talking about Ar Tonelico which also has a crafting system and a visual novel like side in it's mechanics to unlock more poweful songs (this game's spells) . So He told me to try the Atelier series which were also made by Gust, and here I am. . I might as well begin with Ryza or Sophie I guess. Thanks for the video. It really was overwhelming when I found out how many games this series has.
I'm glad that my video helped you figure out which game you want to play. Who knows, maybe you'll be like me and work your way backward in the arcs like what I am doing right now 😊
I just bought Ryza 3, and before I even played it I bought 1 and 2 in that series. There are other games I need to finish and play but when I get to this series I was planning on playing them backwards, 3 first because it’s the newest, then 2, then 1. Unless someone thinks that would be bad.
Although 3 is a good game because it gives you a truncated story of the first two games. However, as a fan, it does miss a lot of nuances in the first two games. Some characters would be unfamiliar, and what happened to them in the first two games. So in short, you could start by playing 3, but afterwards, work your way up by starting Ryza 1 so you can pick up certain story aspects the recap didn't pick up on
Thanks for that, I need to go back to this series, I have most of it, sleeping in my collection, so far I only did finish Atelier Annie on the DS and did start Atelier Iris, the Iris series is qui différent from the other also, more like a standard RPG.
No problem, I made sure to cater this people who plan on returning to the series as well. Glad to at least know you will pick it back up. I would try to get Atelier Annie, but the prices are insane 🙃 Thanks for taking the time to watch my video by the way 😊
I've played and platinumed all the Atelier games. Sophie and Ryza are great starting points but I was glad I started with the Arland triology. Going back to play those are pretty rough for newcomers. The only thing I miss with the modern games are english voice actors. Atelier Lydie and Suelle would have been great seeing the sisters banter back and forth. Good video!
Great video! This is a series I have been hesitant about for a long time because I don't like collecting things or crafting...but they do look fun so I'm wondering what your opinion is!
I was hesitant at first too, but overall the atmosphere and cute aesthetic is what kept me going. It's a series I play to relax. Definitely not your normal RPG.
Great video. I haven't played another atelier game for a long time since finishing atelier iris 2 and 3 for the ps2 back when i was younger and i really enjoyed it. Now I'm going to buy the atelier games for the nintendo switch and they look really great too. This really helped me to decide which atelier game to start with too. I'm thinking about starting with atelier sophie first.
@@MandyleePlays thanks, I've been interested in getting back into the atelier games for the nintendo switch and they really look great. I'm also thinking about getting the atelier ryza games too.
What should I say, I’m a guy and Atelier gave me the joy in computer gaming back, because it is sooo relaxing 💜 By the way, I love your voice and could listen to you for hours ☺️ And yes, I start with Ryza too 😅 Much love from Germany!
@@MandyleePlays I had kind of not noticed any of them, I am a Zelda, Final Fantasy, Skyrim player, that just recently realized he liked super cute laid back games like Harvestella, Pokemon and I am thinking about starting with the Mystery Quad... my roommate is trying Ryza first, but I will totally post a comment as soon as I get started to try one out, but the trailer for Marie is almost had me running up a credit card on switch games, lol!
@@MandyleePlays Just bought the Mysterious DX trilogy for steam... put 8 hours in it in one day and before get lost trying to continue to figure out who this book is and why the art show a girl. OMG everything about this adorable... I especially am in love with combat design and the enemies, they are so well drawn and rendered so beautifully. I have not been let down yet by how awesome this story is and from what I hear, it is the most confusing to follow, I feel like everything just naturally happens as I try to level up my alchemy and the synthesis is... and the music!!!
@MandyleePlays I'm so hyped about getting into this franchise. You and I have very similar taste in games so everytime you recommend a game I haven't played I always know it will be top quality and something I'm going to love.
atelier ryza is great opportunity to any new fans who want to jump to series..1st was bad, terrible even..to rushed. 2nd are my favourite of all times u got many think u hope the first game have..and new addition character is nice character love her. 3rd i haven't finished yet but the fact boss the characters u been seeing as story characters only since the first games actually become playable is littery amazing! I'm proud of him! personally i feel like Atelier dusk Trilogy is the best in term of storytelling compare to the other series and the characters design is just incredible!! in term of gameplay i recommend atelier lulua the story is absolutely garbage but the combat is top tier to enjoy
Look at you with these editing skills, I see you. That VHS effect, nice. Yeeeeaaah I too wonder why people are so into Thighs the RPG. YOU READ A TUTORIAL... ON PURPOSE?!?!?! WOMAN WHO ARE YOU??? (Progress) Great video Mandy, definitely picking up Ryza (Thighs) the moment I get my PC up and running. Finally understanding the in's and out's of the this series after this video. THANK YOU!
Thank you! Funny enough when I read the "WOMAN" part I read it in your voice as usual lol. Then again the mods do too as well lol Yes I read a tutorial for once in my gaming career. A miracle lol. Also let me know when you start the Atelier series! I would like to know your journey.
Really appreciate such a comprehensive guide, thank you! I have been tempted to try Sophie or Ryza for a while but wasn't really sure because generally I avoid combat in games (90+% of my gaming is Stardew). I started NiNo Kuni last night and it's gorgeous, so I think an atelier game will be my next go at a jrpg. Question: on the switch store they sell a bundle called the mysterious trilogy, which is Sophie, Firis, and Lydie and Suelle. Do you know why Sophie 2 is not included in the sequence, and (without spoilers) what would I be missing if I bought the bundle and skipped Sophie 2? Thank you so much
Hey, thanks for the great feedback on the video. Always appreciate it when people try out the series. In terms of your Question about the Mysterious trilogy bundle. The bundle came out before Sophie 2 was even a thing. Sophie 2 was released after Ryza 2. Sophie 2 It is still part of the Mysterious Quadrilogy but it was released way later after Lydie and Suelle. Chronologically Sophie 2 happens right after Sophie 1 then it's Firis and Lydie and Suelle.
@@MandyleePlays ok, thank you so much. I was worried it'd mess up the story if I left it out, but if it didn't come out til after it'll be fine if I play that last.
Thanks for this! Im recently on an atelier splurge and cant get enough of it. Got burned by Ryza 3 last year as it was too big and bloated and i didn't like the combat. However, ive been playing alot if the older games as they are dirt cheap in Japan. Have you tried Shallie? I absolutely love it and it feels more akin to a good old fashioned jrpg than some if the later games.
Yea I should have used that term instead 😅 Coupled with the fact that I already have a hard time pronouncing words as well makes quadrilogy a recipe for disaster lol
Hey mandy long time no see sorry that I have been gone away for awhile. It's just that I have been going through allot in recent times. But I wanted to know how long does it takes to complete each game ?
That really depends on which game and IF ANY of them have a EASY mode though Mana Khemia the first game is around 25 to 30 hours its sequel will take longer then that since theirs 2 main party members each one with their own party and in Mana Khemia 2 its NG+ runs only unlock after you beat BOTH Routes AND ITS Post game bonus dungeon so that one is around 40 to 50 hours to do everything.
this was a lovely video! i've wanted to dive into this series for years and years now, but was pretty intimidated by how many games there were, how each seemed so uniquely different and how appealing i found every games art style. your video really helped fix that intimidation! there's been a big sale on the nintendo eshop for the series, so this is the perfect time for me to dive in! ✨️ i'm going to pick sophie or ryza! the hardest part now... is actually deciding (;´Д`)
Glad that my video helped you make a decision. Be sure to have a great time when playing the game. Great timing on the sale as well. Let me know the decision you made.
It such a shame that i never heard about this series before, and its a shame that i know about this series from the gacha game of atelier mobile game. Great video, thank god such video about atelier exist.
@4:37 - Start at *Ryza 1 and/or Sophie 1* . I was pretty confused on this series to where I should start off, but you convinced me on these 2, Mandy! Thank you for this!🙇🏻🙇🏻🙇🏻 Love to know that each of these games has a totally different story akin to the Persona series, but I digress.🤔😗 @4:54 - I love how you just had to zoom into Ryza’s thighs, pointing it out as one of the “reasons” why it’s best to start off in her respective game.😅😂🤣💀💀💀
I'm glad that my video helped you jumpstart the series. Each game has a different story up until the Ryza trilogy, where the story feeds off each other. Also, in terms of the thighs, even the developers were trying to get the size of it correctly, lol. Guess all that time spent was worth it
I know of Atelier series but it seemed boring so I didn't play. Plus timelimit on some games. But on Ryza I went in and now I'm starting Ryza 3 after beating the other 2. Why? One word. The THICC. Another word. The Rule 34. Great video though! I'm hoping Atelier series comes to Game Pass because of all the other KT games on there. EDIT: 4:50 This girl knows whats up. You have my sub.
Are any of the Atelier games a bit simpler than Sophie 1/2 or Ryza 1/2? I loved the reviews so I picked them up when they came out but I shelved each one very early on because there was so much to do I got overwhelmed.
Sophie and Ryza are simple as they can get. They are the least strict out of any game in the series. Though I don't blame you for getting overwhelmed cause that is what I felt at first when playing them. I recommend playing it little by little to get a grasp. Once you start synthesizing, the gameplay loop and story will open up to you. Also, don't be afraid to look at online guides for help as well.
If I’m correct Sophie 2 was released after the trilogy that started with Sophie one. Not knowing the stories: should I play Sophie 2 second or forth, for the optimal story experience?
Hi! Just want to ask if having a physical copy of the game allows you to play them offline? Because that's the biggest factor I'm considering. I'm planning to get the Dusk and Mysterious Deluxe Editions since those already contain three games in one, which I think is worth it. But I want to play the game anywhere with or without internet connection, like when traveling. Hope to hear from you soon 😃 Thanks in advance! Edit: I plan to buy and play the Switch versions 😃
Hmm, interesting question. If it's a physical copy of the Atelier games, then 100%, you can play it offline since the games are on the cart. I have the dusk trilogy physically, and all the games are on the cart. No download is needed 😊
@@MandyleePlays thank you for the reply! Because I read online, someone tried playing Ryza 2 offline, even with a physical copy, and it won't start. Anyway, hope you have a great day! 😃
if you have most of these games for the PS4, i see little reason to get em on the Switch, when there all playable on PS5. im not a 100% sure about the Arland series, but the remasters are on PS4. i know Sophie 1 & 2 plays for sure, now the Ryza series your better off getting the PS5 versions. because i heard the Switch can't quite handle them, but Switch is still good for rpgs, just depends on the game. Rune Factory 5 is another game I'd skip the Switch for, Rune Factory 4 Special runs just fine
It's such a shame they are throwing this series away but going full 'gacha'. Guess I'm done with the series at this point I will not even try the gacha entry.
I’m not playing the gacha game trust me I hate those practices, atelier included Tho I’m not throwing away the series I’m hoping they are still working on a actual game
I’m starting with Sophie because it’s the cheapest. Thanks for the recommendation can’t wait to get into this series. Hang outy jrpgs are my jam.

After playing about 10 hours, I purchased Ryza 2, Sophie 1, Sophie, 2, Dusk Trilogy, Lulua, and Blue Reflection Second Light. Very excited to dive more into the Atelier series and will be looking forward to your Ryza 3 review!
Nice pickup haul. Glad that you liked the series since the first game. Might have to make a video on the blue reflection series 🤔
@MandyleePlays Yes, please! I don't see too many videos about the Blue Reflection series
Thank you, this video was super helpful! Been really wanting to try this series but never have so far... the time has finally come. Thumbed up and subscribed!
Just getting into these games now. Thank you for the video this did help a bunch!
Great video! I was looking into this series but didn’t know where to start. You explained everything very well! Thank you.
Your welcome! Glad that it helped you out 😊
My favorite game from the Atelier Series is Mana Khemia, but like you've said, it's so hard to find the earlier games! So I really really hope they decide to remake at least Atelier Iris, since that is the game that got me into the Atelier series and JRPGs in general.
I just got into the Ryza Trilogy (started with 2 whoops!) and I am absolutely loving it as my entry into the franchise! So so good!
I’m really glad you’re covering the atelier games 🤗 thank you Mandy 🙂👍
Glad that you like the video Jorge. Hopefully, there will be more Atelier videos in the future. Especially with Ryza 3 coming out soon.
Got Sophie after watching this. It's my first Atelier game in a very long while since my first foray into the series with Mana Khemia.
Nice! Sophie is a great place to start!
And also, the way ryza let you recycle your unused item and material through gems is a benediction that make you feel that none of your time is wasted and that everything you do will empower your skill as an alchemist, which i feel is a system missing from sophie (not quite finish the game yet, i might be wrong about that)
Anyway, thank you for your hard Work , and i wish you the best 4 your channel and your atelier experience 😙
Thank you! Also, thank you for presenting your opinion as well. I appreciate it too 😊
Nice introduction!! Never played this series before but it does look interesting!!
Perfect opportunity to try them tbh. A lot of the newer games are beginner friendly.
Really wanted to figure out how to start this series, thanks for this!
No problem, anything to help out any newcomers who want to get into the series.
Also, thanks for watching my video! 😊
im going to start with ryza, but im very excuted to go back and play the other arcs 🥰
Thanks, they're on sale, and the choices are overwhelming for an outsider looking to try one out. Your thoughts are appreciated!
You are most certainly welcome 😊
A pretty good introspective on the Atelier series and your admiration.
Thanks, Dank! It was a video in the making for a long time! Hopefully, this will lead to more Atelier videos down the line
Your very good at this. Your description of the games are very informative without spoilers
Thank you 😊
Thank you for this excellent overview of the series! I learned so many things from you. Great work, thanks!
My pleasure! Glad that you not only learned about the Atelier series, but enjoyed the video as well!
The other day I was just talking about games with a more chill atmosphere like Harvest Moon / rune factory and somehow ended talking about Ar Tonelico which also has a crafting system and a visual novel like side in it's mechanics to unlock more poweful songs (this game's spells)
.
Who knows, maybe you'll be like me and work your way backward in the arcs like what I am doing right now 😊
Played Iris back in the day, I'm shook with how many there are now! Also hoping now for a remake 😅
I want to play Iris so badly, but no easy access for me to play
So many games, so little time! I'll get to them one day!
You got this! I believe in you.
Plus the Atelier games are a great palette cleaner after a huge game 👍
@@MandyleePlays That's good to know that it's a great change of pace game.
So in short, you could start by playing 3, but afterwards, work your way up by starting Ryza 1 so you can pick up certain story aspects the recap didn't pick up on
@@MandyleePlays ok thank you
Thanks for that, I need to go back to this series, I have most of it, sleeping in my collection, so far I only did finish Atelier Annie on the DS and did start Atelier Iris, the Iris series is qui différent from the other also, more like a standard RPG.
No problem, I made sure to cater this people who plan on returning to the series as well. Glad to at least know you will pick it back up. I would try to get Atelier Annie, but the prices are insane 🙃
Thanks for taking the time to watch my video by the way 😊
@@MandyleePlays Always a pleasure, I do love to heard your opinions!
Good video!
I miss the English VA as well :(
I hope you enjoy the Arland trilogy I love the art style 💖
Thank you for you’re explanation these games are a big investment to get into with all the delux editions n all
You are most certainly welcome 😊
Great video! I cant wait fro Ryza 3 ❤
Same here, I'm very excited 😊
I like ongoing series this large. Hope you can convince me to dive in.
Atelier Sophie is a great choice! Glad that my video got you back into the series
I’m glad you find the atelier relaxing 😌 and thank you!
I just ran across the pre-order for the new one and I think this series is too cute!!!! Absolutely love!!
Which one Atelier Marie? Yes! That game looks so adorable! Let me know how far into the series you are. I would love to know 😊
@@MandyleePlays I had kind of not noticed any of them, I am a Zelda, Final Fantasy, Skyrim player, that just recently realized he liked super cute laid back games like Harvestella, Pokemon and I am thinking about starting with the Mystery Quad... my roommate is trying Ryza first, but I will totally post a comment as soon as I get started to try one out, but the trailer for Marie is almost had me running up a credit card on switch games, lol!
Superb overview. Thanks!
I gotta shop around bc I'm a physical copy freak but I'm definitely going to get a copy of ryza 1. Thank you again.
Try VGP, they sometimes have copies available for purchase
@MandyleePlays I'm so hyped about getting into this franchise. You and I have very similar taste in games so everytime you recommend a game I haven't played I always know it will be top quality and something I'm going to love.
I’m gonna wait and get the Ryza collection later on😊
atelier ryza is great opportunity to any new fans who want to jump to series..1st was bad, terrible even..to rushed.
Love your voice, thank for the content and fun edition!
Thank you so much 😊
Look at you with these editing skills, I see you. That VHS effect, nice. Yeeeeaaah I too wonder why people are so into Thighs the RPG.
YOU READ A TUTORIAL... ON PURPOSE?!?!?! WOMAN WHO ARE YOU??? (Progress)
Great video Mandy, definitely picking up Ryza (Thighs) the moment I get my PC up and running. Finally understanding the in's and out's of the this series after this video. THANK YOU!
Thank you! Funny enough when I read the "WOMAN" part I read it in your voice as usual lol. Then again the mods do too as well lol
Yes I read a tutorial for once in my gaming career.
I actually just started Shallie it’s really good so far :)
Awesome video will have to check the games out
Thank you! Also, yes the game are sk worth your time!
Awesome video! After being on the fence for the Atelier games, I think I will get the Ryza series. Question now is, Switch or PS4/5?
Thank you 😊
If you care about portability, play it on the Switch. If you want to admire how gorgeous the Ryza series looks, get it on PS5
This was a well researched video. Good job./
Thank you!
Im almost done collecting the ps3 and ps4 . I need shallie and the first two ryza ganes. Then gonna beat them all
Nice!
Hey Mandy are you excited that they are working on new games for the franchise?
Oh hell yea I am!!
Quadrillogy is a mouthful to say, hence i just use the word Tetralogy
Yea I should have used that term instead 😅
Coupled with the fact that I already have a hard time pronouncing words as well makes quadrilogy a recipe for disaster lol
Hey mandy long time no see sorry that I have been gone away for awhile. It's just that I have been going through allot in recent times.
But I wanted to know how long does it takes to complete each game ?
Hey Nintendo Gaming, long time no see. Hope all is well.
From previous playthroughs these games take about 40-50 hours in my experience.
It's my fave JRPG series, glad I sub to your channel Miss Mandy
Awww thank you!
@@MandyleePlays No problem and my favorite in the series is Sophie 2, and Sophie herself is my favorite Atelier girl ever!
Super informative video. Great content! Got yourself a new subscriber 🎉

More intro videos in the works!
Whoa you’re a great writer! Solid script.
I just saw this comment. Thank you so much. I appreciate it 😊
this was a lovely video! i've wanted to dive into this series for years and years now, but was pretty intimidated by how many games there were, how each seemed so uniquely different and how appealing i found every games art style. your video really helped fix that intimidation!
there's been a big sale on the nintendo eshop for the series, so this is the perfect time for me to dive in! ✨️ i'm going to pick sophie or ryza! the hardest part now... is actually deciding (;´Д`)
Glad that my video helped you make a decision. Be sure to have a great time when playing the game.
Great timing on the sale as well. Let me know the decision you made.
With the new Atelier that have annunced on the Nintendo direct, i m curious about this series
I'm glad that you are doing your part on researching beforehand (and that your research led to my video)
Hope my video helps you out!
Nice job you’re truly a Atelier Fan🥰
Thanks Violet! Finally, time to show my true fangirl lol
Except she has problems pronouncing the word "Atelier" correctly.
It's pronounced: ah-tell-e-ah
Not: ah-till-e-err

@4:37 - Start at *Ryza 1 and/or Sophie 1* . I was pretty confused on this series to where I should start off, but you convinced me on these 2, Mandy! Thank you for this!🙇🏻🙇🏻🙇🏻
Love to know that each of these games has a totally different story akin to the Persona series, but I digress.🤔😗
@4:54 - I love how you just had to zoom into Ryza’s thighs, pointing it out as one of the “reasons” why it’s best to start off in her respective game.😅😂🤣💀💀💀
I'm glad that my video helped you jumpstart the series. Each game has a different story up until the Ryza trilogy, where the story feeds off each other.
Also, in terms of the thighs, even the developers were trying to get the size of it correctly, lol. Guess all that time spent was worth it
Late to the party, but a 4 part story is normally called a saga. Quadrology makes enough sense to get the point across though.
I did not know that thanks :)
ryza 1 and sophie 1. now i just need to find physical copies, im a physical guy...
The THICC motivates a lot of ppl to play the game 😂
But for real, glad that you started the playing of the many games in the seres.
Awesome video Mandy💙 I did some research and found out that Atelier came out in 1997 and even had GBA and GBC games lol I wish we gottem over here lol
Oooooooo I need to look into that 👀
Are any of the Atelier games a bit simpler than Sophie 1/2 or Ryza 1/2?
I recommend playing Sophie 2 after Sophie 1. It takes place between the first game and Atelier Firis
@@MandyleePlaysvery clear… since they’re on sale in the switch’ e-shop, I bought those four thanks to your reply (only have the 3 ryza ones)
if you have most of these games for the PS4, i see little reason to get em on the Switch,
when there all playable on PS5. im not a 100% sure about the Arland series, but the remasters are on PS4. i know Sophie 1 & 2 plays for sure, now the Ryza series your better off getting the PS5 versions. because i heard the Switch can't quite handle them, but Switch is still good for rpgs, just depends on the game. Rune Factory 5 is another game I'd skip the Switch for, Rune Factory 4 Special runs just fine
The Ryza series runs fine on Switch. I play all my Atelier games on Switch.
Good video though Sophie & the Mysterious series are all originally PS4 games not PS3.
It's just Gust's limited budget lol
4:55 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now it's 25 Games😂

It's such a shame they are throwing this series away but going full 'gacha'. Guess I'm done with the series at this point I will not even try the gacha entry.
