I love this show. I saw it on TV as a kid over in Australia and it really inspired a lot of my writing since. The setting of the book I'm writing is on its surface a fantasy one, but with a lot of the magic just being technology that the population now has no idea how it functions. Seeing what structures might look like 10,000s of years in the future without upkeep and what impact they would have is such an inspiration :D
@@burritomensch1257 THing is tho without the continents also massively shifting and changing this scenario is impossible. If all the ice on earth melts the seas would rise by around 68-69 meters. This would put like half of Washington underwater but it wouldn't be nearly this bad.

Actually *we* didn't. What you and other idiots claim is man made climate change, is actually a regular old run of the mill Ice Age Termination event. There's no way that can stand after 500 years of zero maintenance. It wouldn't even last 100. The base is literally crumbling even with constant repair due to the weight

Wow. You two really don’t get it. The absolute most inhospitable place on Earth, whether cold or hot is still 100,000 times better than anything we’ve found in space. And even if we did find another planet, we don’t have the means to get there. So leave? How? Where?
jeez man i miss these types of documentaries there was so much unnecessary editing and so many random sounds to make it more engaging for the audience but now we don't really see stuff like this anymore.
500 years after people - every other building in Washington DC has vanished, but somehow the Washington Monument is still standing.
Due to its design, SubhanaAllah.
It’s made of marble so it can’t rust like steel buildings which collapse.
It is built in a similar way to how ancient monuments like the Colosseum & the Pyramids of Giza are built.
The pyramids have stood for thousands of years.
Its pretty much just a stable pile of rocks..
So I guess it won the race to see which Capital monument would last the longest
its a rock tower of course it would, just like how the pyramids will outlast mankind
Stonehenge would stay
you came here just because how cool the thumbnail is

Love your book idea!
500 years actually looks beautiful
So the sea levels rose but 1000 years after people.
I guess we didn't melt the ice caps after all!
We did, just at a way quicker pace. Ecosystems don't particularly like rapid change.

wheres the Washington wormhole???
theres no wormhole
I did not expect to see a monument mythos reference here
We last saw it near Mars and then much later on Uranus.
"The victims of washington will be avenged"
The music of Washington will end
so the last words in small pyramids in washington monument are laus deo?

Is this before or after it was reinforced with tensioning to resist earthquakes?
Holy shit what a time trip seeing this on my feed.
I do hope a tree inside that monument doesn't wake up and cause an interdimensional portal to form
