    Sometimes it feels like travel is just an endless journey to the town down the road. We arrive somewhere, and everything is surprising and fresh. Then after a short period of time, it becomes comfortable. It becomes, in a sense, our home.
    And then we’re off again. We’re looking down the road for the next spot, that can surprise us, and give us that feeling again, where everything is new.
    Well, in Puerto Escondido, the town down the road is Mazunte.
    Some people go there to surf.
    Some people go there to rest.
    Some people go there for spiritual reasons.
    Why am I going there?
    Well, it’s as I said before. It’s the town down the road. And when you’re a traveller. Sometimes that is reason enough.

    I appreciate that you enjoy going to new places and experiencing new cultures - and above all, taking us with you!! I hear too many people talking about "bucket lists" and to me, that seems to trivialize those places and cultures. You're not a bucket list type of guy, it seems; rather, you travel for the joy of learning, watching and listening. May you continue to do this for years to come!

    Thanks for sharing! I am at Oaxaca & drive down with my hubby to Huatulco… we went beach hopping & it is incredible- views, water, food, people… . I just want to say - you are absolutely right about people taking the time to watch the sunrise & sunset ☀️! I’m glad I did it … as I continue with my journey of many more experiences. ❤️😃🇲🇽🙏🏽 cheers from a 🇨🇦 Canadian!!!

    Doesn't travel also involve discovering something that is new, not just to you, but to the legions of other travelers? Are you really "travelling" if you are encased in a bubble of foreigners who are the same age and have the same interests? There are many undeveloped beaches and towns in Oaxaca that have not been tainted by influencers and their followers (who, to me at least, seem like clones chasing the same photos, smoothies, waves, raves, etc). Closer to PE, you can check out Playas Roca Blanca, Agua Blanca and Puertecito (or even Playa Colorada which you can walk to from Bacocho) - none of which have the La Punta/ Mazunte "scene". Think about how absurd it is to suggest that the sunset at Punta Cometa is better than any other outcropping along the coast (more druggie perhaps, but it is still the same sun and the same ocean). Check out Pochutla on Monday mercado day for an authentic slice of Oaxaqueno and Zapotec culture. Stay with the locals in La Crucecita and explore the many beautiful bays of Huatulco. ... I have been a fan for a long time. You have published some excellent and original videos from Mexico and offered great insights. Please take us somewhere that is not already the subject of umpteen TH-cam videos.

    I love Mazunte! If you have a chance try the sushi of Sushido, close to the main beach. You won't regret it.
    Also, do the crocodrile tour in "La Ventanilla". It's 10 min away from mazunte. The tour is 100 pesos mxm. And is TOTALLY WORTHY

    I was there 9 days ago, I loved it although it was super hot and humid. I liked the coffee shop located at the corner of that street you have to turn to go up hill that takes you to the cemetery, everything is a bit overpriced but the beach was nice.

      @salvadorrojassanchez8841 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erickgasuz5580 la espiritualidad no es superficial. No sé puede crear o imitar, surge de las personas y de sus acciones, de la forma en la que viven y se manifiestan en su entorno. Si es muy espiritual ver el ciclo de la vida en las tortugas que arriban esas playas. Lo demás es imitación. Tampoco podemos restarle a un lugar.

    Hello Dan. As always, I love your reflection speech on your videos. And about Mazunte, it is so good to see that even though it seems that the place had become a popular destination, it still keeps as that little town in between bigger destinations. I was there about 30+ years ago as a part of a school trip when I was in High school. This place was starting to promote what they called ECOTOURISM. At that time, the people would offer their properties to stay in (almost as a hostal) with their patios conditioned with hammocks and they will feed you. At that time, the only thing to attract tourism was their Conservation and research centre for the tortoise and it had a protected area for the tortoise to nest their eggs and release to the sea.
    I am so glad to see that the town was able to keep like that with no developments like it happened in Huatulco.
