    What's your favorite Forgotten Ones theory?

  • @valp3466
    @valp3466 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

    The Titans being the Forgotten Ones makes sense. I just remembered Solas turning people into stone at the end of Trespasser, and now Harding (a dwarf) apparently getting that power, both associable with Titans. And Solas would walk among the Forgotten Ones with the latters thinking he was one of them... Titans made of stone.

    • @valp3466
      @valp3466 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      And if Solas blocked both type of gods in their own respective places, if the veil is torn, not only the Evanuris come back, but also the Titans. I suppose the veil was created to separate the Evanuris from the Titans, the spirits (Evanuris) from the material world (the Titans)

    Didn't Sandal occasionally get a touch prophetic/wise? Could Sandal be a dwarf who still has links to the titans? There's a lot of possible implications there. Were all dwarfs like Sandal once? Do his issues stem from having trouble processing reality AND the titan at the same time? Is this why he instinctively understands runes? There's some strong evidence to support this. I forget the exact scenes, but at least twice Sandal survives threats that should have flattened him, and all he says is 'Not Enchantment!' (I think) about an ogre he turned to stone, just like Solas does to the Qunari in Inquisition.

    Here's a wild take, maybe the 'scaled ones' were normal elves locked away/stuck when the forgotten ones were sealed in the abyss and somehow corrupted and changed over time and could be linked to the profane... Or maybe I just really want them to be introduced/expanded on and I'm just reaching

    This is such an interesting video - and you have a great voice for it, by the way. You could do audiobooks. One thing that I think it quite interesting is that in the Nordic folklore that LotR was based on (and thus, even accidentally, things that are inspired by it), elves and dwarves are the same thing. Initially you had light elves (Ljósálfar) who lived in the forest and dark elves (Dökkálfar) that lived in caves. All elves had beards, contrary to what we think of elves now. Over time, in folklore, the light elves were increasingly depicted as clean-shaven as they were associated with youth and beauty, whereas the the dark elves kept their beards and were depicted as more rough-hewn and crude. And as time moved on, they became seen as two different things; the forest-dwelling, pretty light elves and the more basic and stoic people that lived underground - bearded, of course.

  • @xhosagibran370

    Awesome video. Another aspect I would look into is the banter between solas/sera and solas/cole. When solas speaks to sera he suggests she tries military tactics, weakening the aristocracy, repositioning forces or removing those who don’t have the same goals, hiring those to do ugly work. When bantering with Cole, Cole tells solas “they’re not gone as long as you remember them” and he can “let them go” and that “he didn’t do it to be right but to save them”.
    When you think about it, if the evanuris were the bad guys then what were the forgotten ones? I’m thinking the forgotten ones were like solas and opposed the evanuris. However they all had different goals end game wise and as a result solas sealed them with them away along with the evanuris.

    I still think that The Forgotten Ones are actually The Old Gods. To me Anaris, Daern’thal and Geldauran don’t sound Dwarven and the note Geldauran’s Claim sounds more like how I would expect an Old God to think. The Titians seem to have had a telepathic connection to the Dwarves, a hive mind, so I don’t see them being so individualistic in their thinking. My theory is that the initial war waged by the elves that made the Evanuris become worshiped as gods was against The Titans. The Evanuris then later imprisoned The Old Gods in the corpses of The Titans, rather than it being The Maker. This to me fits with why their prisons are described as so unnerving, as it’s inside a dead being. Perhaps it was even Solas who imprisoned The Old Gods, fitting with the Dalish legend. Either way I think the defeat of The Titans has to have happened before Solas’s rebellion, as it seems mining them for Lyrium is likely was gave The Evanuris so much power. It might also explain The Blight. Maybe The Blight was due to the decaying bodies of dead Titans.

      There are *seven* Old Gods and there are seven Evanuris. Only two aren't dead yet and we are fighting two Evanuris in Veilguard, while there are only three Forgotten Ones ever mentioned in the lore.

      @designlover945 the lights only started after the magisters went into the fade so they must have done something to set it off. perhaps the blights were a conquering method for the evanuris and now they happen without anyone in control or something?
      as for the titans, they seem to have a link to the blight as they both have some kind of song/ hive mind to those that are connected to them. maybe the titans are the original source of the blight.

    This theory is interesting, but I don't think it's it. The dwarves would have to have individual consciousness in order to have names when they were bound to Titan. Not to mention that the collective would know everything an individual does. But Felassan's story and the Hakkon codex speak of individuals. They have names and free will. That's why I prefer a race that we basically know nothing about. Whose murals we see. But will it be them? I also think not... The Forgotten Ones are quite a mystery.

    Great Video! Loved it, and it got me thinking. . .
    I had chatGPT scrape all DA lore across the games, dlc, and other media (podcasts, comics, novels, etc...) and it gave your theory a 30-40% chance of being right.
    I then asked if the Forgotten Ones may be the cause of Red Lyrium and the resulting corruption and got 60-70% chance. When I reminded chatGPT about Andruil returning from hunts with madness, it increased to 70-80%
    "The updated probability (70-80%) that the Forgotten Ones are the cause of Red Lyrium is now much higher than the chance that the Forgotten Ones are Titans (still at 30-40%). This is because the new information about Andruil’s madness adds further evidence of corruptive forces linked to the Forgotten Ones, whereas the Titans seem to have a more neutral or protective role, not inherently malevolent like the Forgotten Ones."
    I then pasted your transcript in for a final tally:
    "Revised Probability:
    Forgotten Ones as the cause of Red Lyrium: 75-85% (up from 70-80%).
    Forgotten Ones being the Titans: 40-50% (up from 30-40%), given the suggestion of Titans as avatars or a possible link between them and the Forgotten Ones."
    Of course, what does chatGPT know? Every query sits above the comment: "ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info."

All but 2 are out, there are 8 evanuris (-1 for Mythal). There are 7 old gods, there have been 5 blights already. The blighted lyrium and the evanuris connections. I've been calling this since origins. Bertram Inquisition and trespassers, it's all but confirmed.
