I'm sorry, but IMO there is no comparison between blue sapphire and tanzanite. Tanzanite is so much more beautiful because of the blueish violet color, every time you look at the stone in different lighting you see either blueish purple, or just blue or just violet. You don't get that in a sapphire. Also as far as price, in the US Northeast, a good quality Tanzanite is going for more money then a sapphire. The mines are depleting and the cost of Tanzanite will sky rocket in the next few years. I love this gem stone.

Several years ago I purchased some tanzanite that came from the D-Block. I haven't been able to find any tanzanite that rich in color and clarity since that block has been closed for a while now. I love this video and I'm glad I purchased mine when I did.

Let's not forget about the very beautiful green, and bicolor tanzanites....so amazing! We well a lot more of the multi colored tanzanites than the highly desired deep purple to blue hue, I suppose because it is different?

Star rutilated quartz is rare and beautiful. I can't find top quality star rutilaed quartz on youtube. But I can find many Tanzanites on youtube.

I want to change my wedding ring, and lose the diamond. I adore Tanzanite , but I have to bet it isn't good for me, because it's too soft for someone who never takes it off, and is extremely hard on her hands??? Thinking of Montana sapphire?? Love Cambodian zircon, but am afraid it's too soft, as well, and will look like a topaz to the untrained eye.

Thank you very much, HKTDC. This is a very informative video. You might also add that, Tanzanite can also be found in India as well, not just Tanzania.
A jewelry advertiser on TV offers 1 ctw Tanzanite pearl oval for $15 each.
How do I know if I'm paying to much?
    Thanks again.

Um not rare at all,,, is greenish in color,, then laser treated to change the color,,, also one should know that it is avery weak stone,, can be scratched with finger nail.

What nonsense. They are rare because unlike other gemstones which can be found in different countries in the world, like diamonds for example, Tanzanite can only be found in one single part of the whole world and nowhere else. Also, what kind of Tanzanites have you been looking at?! There are no green Tanzanite stones which "are heat treated to change colour". Why would you post such lies??
