Thank you thank you thank you! We love these thermostats but couldn't figure out some functions. Your video has us now understanding how this all works! And are now even happier with these. Great video: concise, clear, and thorough. U da bomb!
This is a most exceptional video. We are getting ours installed this Thursday. We have an old Venstar T1800, I hate trying to program this thing. Thank you
One limitation of the remote sensors with the Sensi is there is no way to automatically prioritize a sensor during a schedule. So I can’t say like during my sleep time from 10pm-8am to just use the bedroom sensor. You can select just the room sensor manually, but not automatically during a schedule.
@@prm7216 you’d think so. I contacted their support because I was surprised it wasn’t a feature. They replied that you indeed can’t do that, but they are always looking for improvements so they sent the idea to their development team. Who knows if or when they will implement it.
I just watched 3 of your videos. Watch two on the Sensi and one on the ecobee enhanced thermostats. My question is which do you recommend between the Sensi Touch 2 and the Ecobee Enhanced?
I thought I heard you say this Sensi will work with dual stage systems--did I hear that correctly? Having a 2-stage furnace, I would appreciate discussion on installing, programming, & using those. None of the videos talk about 2-stage systems, except one guy pointed out why the one he was talking about had RC & RH connections, one red wire for each stage. 🤔I can't be the only person who wants to know how to connect a 2-stage, & what to do if there is only one red (heat)& one white (cool) wire.
Thanks for the review. Couple of questions. I have the original non-touch Sensi model with the baseplate. Do you know if this new model has the same screw mount width on the wall? Also what's the profile height from the wall like?
I wish you would've showed how you can select sensors through the app. The Nest Learning Thermostat's app allowed you to easily switch between sensors on the main screen where you also adjust the temps. The Ecobee, however, makes you set up Home/Away/Sleep profiles where you have to set up temp/time parameters and which sensor they should be tied to. Like, the Nest, I want to be able to switch sensors on the fly. If only the Nest didn't have issues with staying docked on the wall, which is why I'm looking for a replacement.
I can't tell from your video, but does this thermostat make a clicking noise when it turns on? I have an older Sensi smart thermostat which click very loudly and I'd like to replace it with a non-clicking thermostat. Thank you.
is there any way to change the background color? I don't want an ugly black screen when the entire rest of my house is light colors and white. I know they sell one with a white side bezel but that doesn't help for the front
The Gen1 is better looking because the background turns full color. Tools sensors are okay but it’s not a replacement for zones as you still cool or heat all areas of your home regardless of the thermostat on the main level. Also was hoping Sensi would have had temperature alerts on this model but does not. Conclusion, save your money and get the Gen 1 units
I think the room temp sensors are useless unless you have dedicated heating and cooling units in every room. My home has 1 central HVAC unit. How can the thermostat ensure that 1 room is 70 degrees and the other is 78 degrees? The thermostat does not have the power to open and close the dampers or vents.
He said if you didn't have a common wire it would not be compatible according to Emerson he would be wrong they said you can hook up an external 24-volt Transformer which gives you the common wire.
Cant wait for sensi or others get on the bandwagon and get into the 21st century make auto cartridge for vents for each room wireless with each room having there own wireless thermostats device controllers connect to main. Instead of CEO etc fating their pockets. They just continue pushing the same thing out to us with higher prices.

That seems ridiculous. Isn't that the whole point for those extra sensors?

Can it be used with dual fuel systems? I have an electric heat pump and a gas furnace.

I wish it displayed the outdoor temperature and the date on the display.

I think the clicking noise you speak of is normal. I have the older model too and it clicks everytime ac or heat is turning on/off

Can you lock the temperature to avoid anyone from changing the temperature?
The Sensi is simple to setup and program hands down.

Can you set thresholds? For example, only cool if the temp is 3 degrees higher than whats set?
You can do an offset to accomplish this.
Will it send alert if it looses wifi connection
Is there a subscription for regular home users?
No
What's the common wire about? How do you know if you have a common wire?
It's a thermostat wire that was not used much in the older days, but almost all modern hvac systems have.
What’s wrong with it when the screen won’t come on and when it does, it’s reading 72 but must be 78 in here?

Do you know what a damper is?
@@crayfen082 yes. Dampers allow you to control the flow of air and help regulated temps in a particular zone. So how will this thermostat help?
He said if you didn't have a common wire it would not be compatible according to Emerson he would be wrong they said you can hook up an external 24-volt Transformer which gives you the common wire.
This is the route I went instead of running a new wire thru my house, I bought the c-wire plug in adapter and it worked.
homkit?
👏🏽👏🏽
Can you lock so your kids don’t change it as soon as you go to bed.
It's not "SenSay" it's Sensee!!!
💯
