I have been to Branson just to see Mickey Gilley's show. Took my mother once for her birthday! They were a great comedy team. Your dad came over to pose for photo's a few times during show, he sang to me! Met your dad later, we talked for about half hour! I used to promote shows in late 70's and 80's. He offered to take my mother and I to dinner. Saw your dad several times around Iowa. He always remembered me and we would visit. Your dad was a very kind man, very talented and the best honky tonk player! Saw those fingers fly many times across those keys! He always had time for his fans. God bless him and Joey. Thank goodness for video, both will be missed.
I saw you guys in Branson and I bought the video of the performance that night, actually saw myself in it, love you and your show Mickey Gilley, I play the tape often. RIP Joey
Aww Thanks for sharing this clip I just Loved Joey.. I saw Mickey's show in Branson in 1998 along with my friend Linda, she has since passed from cancer...While waiting for Mickey's autograph , he looked up and sang a line from a song to me ......He sang ,well, hello there. I had to sing the following line ya know , my it's been a long long time , well I got to sing the song with Mickey. I'm telling you it made my day . What a wonderful man he is ..I know he doesn't remember, but I will never forget it
That’s AWESOME 😎 Thank You So much for posting this video. This was from my favorite times in Branson, I have been to see your father in Branson several times and I truly enjoyed each performance. See you Joey Riley in this video again sure brings back lots of memories. Please post more of those to working together, thanks again.
Unfortunately I never made it to Branson to see Mickey on stage. i have, however, met him twice while i was working in radio in Dallas. The station aired the "Live at Gilleys" series every weekend. The listeners probably don't realize this, but those shows were sent to the radio stations weekly on multiple vinyl records complete with the national commercials and the script for the dj to follow so they could play local ads and legal id's of station. I can still see those old blue and white records spinning. The biggest thing was keeping up with the script and keeping things in order. i think each show was 3 or 4 albums. SIDE ONE and SIDE 3 was one lp, SIDE TWO and SIDE 4 and so on. Im 53 and in the nightclub business and Gilley's namesake is on a bar in Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma and on the large venue in Dallas that started as a big honky tonk that has been plagued by city red tape, the public ridicule or refusal to accept parking fees and the general lack of support has turned it into a large facility that hosts corporate and private functions. Mickey has performed live at the Casino location and at Billy Bobs in Ft Worth but nothing can ever replace the original Pasadena Texas Gilleys and the Urban Cowboy era. I have booked Johnny Lee and Charlie Daniels throughout my 32 years in the club business but scheduling on Mickeys part always prevented a true "Urban Cowboy Night" from happening on the same stage same night. Im going to order this dvd if its still available. As I type this, its Monday May 9, 2022 and Mickey left this world this past weekend and we Texans and Country Music Fans are feeling the emotions as a TRUE Country Legend, a Texas Landmark and a Larger Than Life Man has departed on Lifes Railway To Heaven. Godspeed Mickey!!! Thanks for posting this video
Igot to see Joey Riley several times, and he was my most favorite entertainer to see in Branson. I loved him so much. It broke my heart to find out he got cancer and passed away.
Seen the show somewhere between 93 and 95. I was around 14 at the time. Went with my Nanny and uncle. They have both passed since then. Wish i knew where that VHS was cause they had me on the intermission clip
Where can I get a copy of the show? My mom and dad were in the audience and they brought home all the grandkids the hats. Both my parents passed in the last year and I would love a copy of show and a couple of the hats if possible
