They threw themselves in front of at least half a dozen tanks so Miho could have a chance against her sister, and they ran their Tiger so hard it burst into flames and removed itself from the match just so Kay and Katyusha could try to get close enough to fight the college team.

They explained it as a special alloy based on carbon that absorbs the shell fragments but can detect when the regular armor is punctured... But it’s actually just anime magic
I do appreciate just how powerful they made out the Maus' main gun to be. The field gun version of the Maus' Kwk 44 128mm gun is one of the only guns of World War 2 capable of penetrating the Maus' own frontal armor as well as that of the Jagdtiger, King Tiger, and the heaviest Soviet tanks of the war at combat distances. Only the mighty 12 inch thick frontal armor of the T-95 would've been able to resist it.

There was even a Jagdpanther which could easily pen the front of the Tiger I P unangled, but when it angled, it revealed the weakspot that anything could pen. Also anything with more than 100mm of pen would pen the unangled front of a Tiger I H or E.
The last part had to do with some of the scenes that make it seem like the Tiger I could not be penned in the front when I'm reality many things could.
The anime is actually pretty good, especially as it doesn't take itself too serious. But for real. 95% of the Germans shots would have been instant kills on those t34s.

If you watched the anime, you would understand, the tanks are all reinforced from the inside, and the shells are duds, so the tanks absorbs heavier shells impacts, but due to the speed, shell weight and the ammount of force they are able to withstand on impact, the tanks move back or flip over when hit.
Damn that Jagdtiger had so much potential for being a heavy tank destroyer with the other panzers but instead they split in a group hunting for tanks instead being... stationary. Why Maho?
I loved the original series, it was crafted with such detail and love for every moment, shot, sound and scene. Yes, sometimes it had this "fantasy" aspect, but you could always feel the weight of every tank, with their realistict moments. Fast forward to the movies, they have become a messy, total unrealistic crap, about tanks flying and doing totally unreal things. I miss old times...

III not II. The panzer II was a stopgap with a 20mm. The III was an excellent tank of the early war period with a nice 50mm gun, the best of it’s day.
Truestm Was *supposed* to be mounted with the 50, but ended up with a 37 due to a decision to simplify production of AT guns to one shell size.
