Love the reactions, your attention to detail and all the insight you give is amazing, just makes the whole reaction even better I assume that for a lot of the future songs it’ll be the 2024 Legend MM which is no problem here, I will say though when you get to Monochrome please do the 2023 PIA arena, I think many people will agree thats the best live version of the song
Yava! is my personal number one Babymetal song. I finally got to see it live at Legend MM 2024 and it well and truly lived up to my massive expectations. I was right down the front in the left side pit in front of Momo. They don't play it live very often, so that's why the crowd was so hyped for it. The crowd was REALLY loud through the whole show. It was Momo's birthday and everyone was determined to make the most of it. As good as the western Kami are, there is no other guitarist like Mikio (RIP). The OG bass player is BOH; he's actually a jazz bass player by background, which is part of why he does such interesting things on bass. When you liked the little 5 second breakdown, I knew you would love the full breakdown. Clint, the west Kami bass player is actually mainly known as a guitarist, he just moonlights on bass for Babymetal. He plays guitar in ERRA. Anthony the west Kami drummer is an absolute beast; he's known for his speed from his background in deathcore bands. He's also currently the drummer for All That Remains.
Well done for getting this unblocked - great reaction again, as always. All the things I thought I was going to say about the intros by the East Kamis and by the West Kamis being completely different from each other since the respective Kami Band members compose their own parts for those were already said. Clint Tustin from the West is principally a guitarist who plays bass for BABYMETAL, Mikio Fujioka (RIP) who played the first intro for the Kami East was a genius who had his own unique style and techniques for playing with harmonics and the whammy bar. @gaplauche also already said (but I think it is worth repeating - I also re-wound to double check what you had seen) that part where you thought Su stopped singing but still heard vocals, you are almost certainly mistaking Moa and Momo's backing vocals for hers.

Your memory and attention to detail is quite impressive! All of BABYMETAL‘s songs are great, but I think that these more playful ones that incorporate other genres are where they really shine, and they are what makes them so unique, even after more than a decade. When do you get to hear Ska blended with Metal? And these sonically „lighter“ and less distorted parts make the heavy breakdowns hit that much harder. I prefer this a lot over just going all in from start to finish. The solos in the two performances are completely different. I wouldn’t say that they are 100% improvised, but I think the musicians have complete freedom here to bring their own styles to the table.
Good job doing both versions... and for getting this up. The ska mixed with metal really works for me and this is one of my favorite songs. The way you smiled when you noticed Barone's blast beats just made my day. Huge fan. The "extra vocals" are just Moa and Momoko (previously Yui and Moa) doing their thing. I can assure first hand that crowd chanting was very real and very live. I take credit for that. 🤣 🤘🦊
Hah nice! There were moments where the crowd chanting sounded quieter and more organic, and moments where it sounded a lot louder, like it was part of the tracks, but I’m sure that just has to do with the overall mix.
@@jarongeil-vocalcovers2484 I totally see what you say and yes, I'm pretty sure it was the mix they decided for each section. One thing about Japanese crowds is that they are extremely in sync and the volume at the venue during chants is just bonkers... no, really, it's crazy. Imagine 17,000 people chanting in full force and in perfect sync. I've never seen anything like this before.
Now it's time for "no rain no rainbow" live legend S (to celebrate Su 20th birthday) in babymetal office channel which is the last presence of mikio and the first performance of babymetal without yui-metal Then the next one is "trilogy of lights" by babymetal which includes starlight, shine and arkadia which is assumed as tribute to the shining star Mikio Fujioka! Where the song "starlight" was released on the same date when babymetal officially announced the yui departure from babymetal.
Babymetal in this one have crowd tracks because the studio version have it. In the breakdown you are right that was actually only the crowd chanting. but when the sound is a lot louder is because the tracks and the crowd are together. Babymetal crowd is amazing!! Good reaction! i love that you can notice the differences
Love everything about this song from both intros, the vocals, and the courography, especially the expressions on their faces that just make me smile 😃 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
I really enjoy your analysis of Babymetal's performances and the back to back like today is really nice. All your comments were good. LIke you said you're always gonna get a top notch performance...it's Babymetal. That said there to me at least is just something about the OG Kami's that I appreciate. The guitarists just sound a little chunkier. And with Boh, he is a true master on the bass.
Yes it's more poppy, and still it sounds so good :) And seeing their smile is just so contagious For another good intro, you should watch this awesome Kagerou live compilation : th-cam.com/video/aqpS4zih_lM/w-d-xo.html 🤘🤘
In the West Kami Band intro, both guitarists based their solos on East Kami Band guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura’s version. In Japanese metal circles, Mikio Fujioka was considered a virtuoso who could not be bested. A pity he passed away at such a young age. It’s my belief there was no attempt to emulate his solo out of deep respect for his contributions to Babymetal’s success. I have yet to hear anyone that has come close to his technical skill and art of creating voices from the guitar. As for the bass players, BOH (East) is a true bass player, while Clint (West) is primarily a guitarist when he plays with other bands. So, your insight into his solo sounding more like a guitar was spot on.
Where Su stopped singing, that's Moa and Momo backing vocals. Glad to see this got unblocked. I don't think many reactors challenge the blocks. Yuyoyuppe is a master of his craft, but only BM has been be able really pull off his vision. His vocaloid work is good, but very limited by the vocaloid itself. Kageoru (Legend MM 2024 being the latest and non-compilation version on YT) is another one of his tracks, and it has a Kami band solo. I think the Legend MM Kami band solo is far more cohesive to the rhythm and style of the song.
Amazing! Glad you got this unblocked! I’m pretty sure both Kami East and West has a lot more creative control on their solos. While they did it to remain within the style of the song, it is showcasing individual artists themselves. This is a unique and eclectic Ska-infused song about “something being different, and not knowing what to do with it”. A potentially fun jab at those who couldn’t accept Babymetal because they are “different” 😂. When Su stopped singing, it was Moa and Momo’s voice: Su: Parira Parira [ Lowers Mic ] Moa/Momo: Pairira Pairira FUUUU! I bought the BluRay for Legend MM, and I must say, it is one of the rawest sonically. Usually, especially earlier on, Su had a slight track of her on vocals she harmonizes to for some songs. I didn’t hear it all in Legend MM, except a few “typical” moments for some songs. 🤘🦊
I think the drummer also has an upside down bottom high-hat in the middle. That is a Punk Rock thing started by the Ramones; you can do the fast high-hat tick without using the high hat. The intro solos are custom to the musicians, they are never the same show to show cuz they mess with them all the time. When she stopped singing for a second it was the other girls, you can hear the voice change.
They are both good. I still like the old (i.e. when the girls were young) versions better. But the now mature women made a fantastic song with Ratatata. It blew me totally away.
Both Kami Bands are amazing, but Boh on bass is unbeatable. Yava! It's one of the most fun choreographies. Anthony Barone is the drummer for Kami West in the 2024 edition, he's a beast.
Glad you got this unblocked. The intro solos from the two Kami Bands are entirely different. Those intros aren't part of the song; you won't find them on the studio albums. I think the West Kami bassist's solo sounded like a guitar solo because Clint Tustin is primarily a guitarist. He's currently a guitarist in Erra, while still playing bass for Babymetal when he can, and was previously a guitarist in Galactic Empire. That part where you thought Su stopped singing but still heard vocals, you might be mistaking Moa and Momo's backing vocals for hers.

The East Kami Band intro in the first version is super fun, Mikio Fujioka-sama (the guitarist) doing some magic here. (R.I.P.) And of course BOH getting the spotlight he deserves with that magnificent bass solo as well Takayoshi Ohmura on guitar and Hideki Aoyama on drums. It's a decent live compilation with footage of Five Fox Festival 2017 and mixing up with Big Fox Festival 2017, that was the last live performance for YuiMetal. Speaking of reacting, Sumetal once said: "don't think, feel" and I think maybe you should "feel" the songs a little more and not "think" so much about the technical details. Both introductions are different, because the Kami band are different 😉. I hope my comments are not annoying. You are a person who knows a lot about music and I understand your technical perspective. They often have both real crowd noise and crowd noise on track with the real crowd often being louder than the track in the big Japanese shows. And yes Su does sing over a layer of her own voice on track in some songs.
She has harmonized with herself in the past, particularly Road of Resistance, but hasn't for a long time. There was a period, particularly 2014/2015 that it was a lot more prevalent.
I love how the 2017 version is strongly focused on Yui ❤ Nice reaction man! Hope you can do Babymetal Death(legend 1997 version) and Divine Attack soon
Thanks for this reaction. Ska metal isn't that common (and I'm no expert... but), then Babymetal released this song in 2016, probably the most played/popular and even heaviest Ska-metal song in history now. 🙂 Bassist BOH from the Eastern Kami Band (first performance) and drummer Anthony Barone (from the Western Kami Band) are the stars. BOH together with the very first guitarist (RIP Mikio) and an even earlier Kami band drummer: Kari Band.( 仮BAND ), 1 or 2 songs are on TH-cam as well. They play Jazz fusion. Like the song: 侍Groove (sadly the MV is after Mikio's death, they had 1 of his students play) Anthony Barone has drum playthroughs on his TH-cam channel, like: BENEATH THE MASSACRE - Rise of the Fearmonger

Kami East in version 1 is better. Seeing their faces is critical for engagement. Hiding behind masks is cold and clinical. They underestimate the value of this.
Seeing their faces doesn't affect the music but it affects your emotional engagement. I'm not saying which I prefer, just that Boh, Leda, Mikio, Hideki are characters we associate with Babymetal whereas Kami West are designed to be replaceable. Id rather see them and hope they become permanent.

The current musicians are American. That's why the introduction is different.
I’m aware it’s a different lineup. I mentioned that multiple times throughout the video.
Her recorded voice is to give the effect of backing vocal. It seems like people have never seen this!
Nice! I assumed so! 🤘
I love how the 2017 version is strongly focused on Yui ❤
Nice reaction man! Hope you can do Babymetal Death(legend 1997 version) and Divine Attack soon

16" signature thin Paiste china, 20" novo Paiste china. Bought mine a year ago. Just because.
Nice!
Thanks for this reaction.
Ska metal isn't that common (and I'm no expert... but), then Babymetal released this song in 2016, probably the most played/popular and even heaviest Ska-metal song in history now. 🙂
Bassist BOH from the Eastern Kami Band (first performance) and drummer Anthony Barone (from the Western Kami Band) are the stars.
BOH together with the very first guitarist (RIP Mikio) and an even earlier Kami band drummer: Kari Band.( 仮BAND ), 1 or 2 songs are on TH-cam as well. They play Jazz fusion. Like the song: 侍Groove (sadly the MV is after Mikio's death, they had 1 of his students play)
Anthony Barone has drum playthroughs on his TH-cam channel, like: BENEATH THE MASSACRE - Rise of the Fearmonger
Thanks! Good to know! 🤘🤘
Yava is maybe my favorite Babymetal song. Or is it Megitsune? Or is it Tales of Destinies? Or Headbanger? Or Sis Anger?
Sis. Anger

Kami East in version 1 is better. Seeing their faces is critical for engagement. Hiding behind masks is cold and clinical. They underestimate the value of this.
It's always ridiculous to see this kind of argument, that they are better just because you see their faces. West Kami's way of playing is much better.
That’s just a preference, which is fine
Seeing their faces doesn't affect the music but it affects your emotional engagement. I'm not saying which I prefer, just that Boh, Leda, Mikio, Hideki are characters we associate with Babymetal whereas Kami West are designed to be replaceable. Id rather see them and hope they become permanent.
Had to cut out a good amount of this video due to copyright issues. Check out the fully unedited version on Patreon! www.patreon.com/posts/babymetal-yava-112714964?Link&
Nice double reaction! Having been there, I can tell you that the crowd was insanely engaged and loud. (My voice was pretty much gone after the intro song BMD lol)
Nice! 🙌
