The festival was great and so well attended! It's so good to see the village so busy. I couldn't have got the roof done so quickly with Ivan's expertise, he really knows what he's doing so he doesn't spend ages working out the next step (unlike me!)
Lovely to see your Mum she is like a breath of fresh air. I think some dentist were born to do the job as I have been very lucky with mine also . That was good timing with the roof, put your mind at ease for the winter.
Thanks Miriam, it's always good to get together and we're enjoying having Mum here. I'm still not a fan of dentists but I think I got lucky finding this one! We have had rain and under the roof stayed dry so just the chimney to sort now!
I hope Mavis has a lovely holiday with the family in Bulgaria. I think there are sufficient labourers already present you do, however, need an experienced and capable supervisor.
Great job on the roof, was also impressed by what looked like you holding the roof up. Weather looked great for the pie festival, it's been awful where I live
Thanks Mystic, sometimes I don't know my own strength! 🤣 It certainly is a good job, well done. Hopefully you'll get some decent weather before winter arrives, we always feel better when the sun shines!
Very brave Adam, glad you survived the dentist and she was obviously very good. We have an arch decorative section on our roof too, not been able to get up and have a look at the roof yet. Hope your mum enjoys/ed her stay.
I'm just glad my dental issue is sorted, I'm not a fan of going to the dentist. (You probably guessed). The initial problem with the roof behind the arch was a failure of the concrete render on the arch itself. This let water in and onto the beams and that's never good! It's worth checking and filling anywhere that could allow water in. It's also a good place to practice as nobody will see it if it looks a bit rough. I always try to hide my experiments so it looks like I know what I'm doing! 😅 We're having a great time with Mum here, she's really enjoying her visit.
unfortunately husbands mother passed away yesterday she was 88 years old ,but it means that we can, after 24 years , 14 married , live together here in our Bulgarian house. He was an only child and she objected to our living together , he is my second husband thankfully and I'm lucky enough to have two grown up sons from my first relationship.
The wood will be treated but that's a wet weather job. The priority has been to get water tight before it rains! We are getting closer to that and then when it does rain I can treat the wood and check for leaks.
They never stop but at least you have something to keep you occupied. We're selective on what and when to do things. No sense in wearing ourselves out.
Loved the pie festival, thanks for taking us along! That’s wonderful Ivan is helping with the roof & chimney, good job😁

What a sweetheart Mavis is and so confident in front of the camera ❤ Lovely to meet you Mavis and hope you have a wonderful time with your family xx
Mum said thank you but she has no intention of becoming a regular TH-camr! So far we are all really enjoying her visit. 😃

How wonderful is your mom Adam, she's adorable xx
Thanks Zoe, we're all having a great time and she's been adopted by the cats. I'm no longer the only "cat whisperer" here!

She is certainly up to the job so I guess I have another boss! At least the work will get done... 🤣

There was a lot of wood worm in the wood. Did you treat the rest of the wood?
