I'm an adult, quite impatient, and easily bored, so I'm glad to come across this. Originally when I was looking into learning how to play a recorder, the videos aimed at adults, seem to expect you to learn all the notes, before you play any tunes :-( BORING! Your teaching is great. (57 year old child)
Thank you for all these videos ❤️ I had no idea you can play recorder like this. I loved to play recorder as a child and now when my own kid has her own recorder I started to play it again 😍
The recorder was NOT replaced by the flute. That's like saying the harp replaced the guitar because the guitar wasn't loud enough (not true either, of course). It's not like orchestras had recorders then needed something louder and got flutes, that's NOT what happened. They existed side by side but had different roles and different social associations. The recorder was never an orchestral instrument, it was the gentleman's instrument, the flute was associated with the military and a professional's instrument (professional doesn't mean better player, it means one who makes a living at it, not a person in high social standing before the 19th century). The recorder played in many kinds of ensembles in the Renaissance, but in the Baroque period, when the flute was arguably softer than the recorder, the flute was far more likely to be used in orchestral ensembles. The recorder might have been tossed in for church music or occasional variety, but it was mostly a chamber and private instrument from the 18th century onward.
I think a big mistake is trying to teach this stereotypical boring songs, the first song i learned was half of Titanic than i moved to Aladin A Whole New World.
