I have a Spyderco Chaparral which is just perfect for those everyday cutting jobs. It's a bit bigger than the lady bug but not too big. Fits in the small upper pocket of my jeans perfectly so very easy to carry. Same sort of grip as this one, very good quality IMO.
I carry a zdp manbug in my shirt pocket at work as my non threatening knife, and a victorinox compact, and whatever else as the main attraction I feel like for the day. I had a hap 40 ladybug but she really liked it and I prefer the slight upsweep on the manbug blade.
The last few days I've actually been thinking about trying to get a small chunk of 'supersteel' in a knife, just for cutting and craft tasks around the house. The little carbon steel Opinel I have is great, but dulls almost immediately when used against cardboard or leather, so it would be nice to have something I could use and not feel like I have to hone every 5 minutes. What's the thickness behind the edge like on this?
Spyderco's coming out with a Dragonfly in K390. They already have a ZDP189 version. Never really considered something smaller than a Dragonfly in the Spyderco line, but it looks just as useful. I don't have a Dragonfly, but I do have the Byrd Robin 2.
A good leaf blower is an absolute necessity for everyone's EDC. Great video, I've always wondered about this one, whether it was worth while, or whether I should just get Dragonfly 2?
Pete, you might want to check the steel on the Grasshopper. Spyderco's website lists the steel in the Grasshopper as 12c27 not 8cr13MOV. I checked my Grasshopper, which is several years old, to be sure. It is marked as being 12c27. As for the Ladybug/Manbug... Just my personal opinion, but if I were going to use a Spyderco pocket knife in the Grasshopper/Ladybug/Manbug/Dragonfly size range, I'd rather go with the Dragonfly due to the better ergos. The forward finger choil makes it a lot more comfortable since I can actually get a four finger grip.
jeez, ada really won't try to catch even the tastiest of treats. i wonder if someone was throwing french fries to her one time and did a crafty switcheroo to a slice of lemon. something to break that trust.
CEDRIC have you ever considered doing your rope cut test with serrated blades of different steels? I prefer plain edged knifes as well but I would really love to see te results
How do you find the size compared to a Dragonfly? I tried my mates H1 Salt Series Dragonfly and I found it way too small, plus the spyderhole was a bit sharp compared to his USA made one. Also have you played Persona 5 Royal yet?
Had one for 3 days and sold it. Way too small and handle shape made it very awkward to hold. Maybe good as a keychain knife but personally don’t like key-bulk. Delica size or other brand similar size knifes is just right -for me at least. Great videos and reviews as usual 👍

Hey mate - how do you feel carrying all those keys around? I reckon it'd give me the s**ts. I used to have a key ring loaded up like that, but I finally pulled off everything but my house key, car key and office key - the ones I need all the time. All those other ones that I only need occasionally are now on another keyring that just lives in my nutsac (or whatever edc bag you use). Maybe you need 20 keys everyday, in which case keep going. But I bet you could rationalise that monstrosity into everyday keys and the rest, that you keep near, but not in your pocket. Man, cutting back on my keys makes my pocket edc so much nicer. Anyway, just a thought. You do you!
I got rid of the keyring torch and multitool and all that jazz too. I figured the multitool (a micra) was secondary anyway, and could easily go in my bag. Same with the torch.
You must always ask yourself who would even care. Nobody would assume you to carry it in ill will with that size. So nobody will call the cops about it. And even if - the knife is legal to own, albeit not to carry. The cops might take it away from you but that's really it. Considering the price, it's not too big a risk.
Where was Bricky? Maybe this was before his time. I like Bricky. You use Bricky to dull knives; I'd like to see you use Bricky to sharpen a knife. Bricky would be a better sharpener than any of the pull-through sharpeners and probably even some of the pocket sharpeners.
i think it's just the miniscule size of the knife made him want to shoot from a more downward angle, not sure and frankly don't honestly care either, but i almost posted about it too.
Let's be real here: if you want manly men to really be able to identify with these knives you need to do a size comparison with it underneath a Fleshlight.

I do love a good leaf-blower size comparison. Very fancy-tickling.
Good call with the S-biner on the Dragonfly . I do the same thing.
Bob is not my uncle! Randy is my uncle!
Your Ryobi needs Flytanium scales and a Lynch clip.
I upvoted when I saw the leaf blower.

I’ve been carrying one of these for years.
They are great little knives.
I think I have the same leaf blower as you lol great vid, love to see Basil at the end.
how do you like this compared to a Gransfors Bruk American Felling Axe?
I took the felling axe off my key chain. TBH it's just too big for EDC.
I have the original tiny Bug, I keep that one on a key ring that is dedicated to other mini tools
I love my little K390 ladybug. Handy little thing...

I ever thought about a high end steel in a tiny knife. But it is a great idea. I have the Ladybug in V-Toku 2 and like it. It is a cool little knife.
What I took away from this is that I need one of everything in the Delica line.
Glad you compared the size to the ryobi leaf blower because it’s the only thing i have that you compared it to
Wish Spyderco did a ladybug/Byrd Finch 2 with build quality like the PM2... Well heck, A keychain "PM2" !
would've loved to see some batoning with a really toineyy stick
I honestly don't know what I would have done if you didn't show that size comparison.

All depends on how you want to carry it I guess. Dragonfly2 has a clip, Ladybug doesn't.

Ladybug has been a solid knife in my rotation. It may not be flash but it takes a good edge and does the job. Can't really fault it tbh.
Thx for heads up
The keys situation is crazy
Gotta get that MANbug in MAXAMET with black FRN and DLC Coated blade for my TACTICAL KEYCHAIN right next to my Aluminum KUBATON / buttplug 😂
What angle do you sharpen your Ryobi leaf blower?
I carry one of those Grasshoppers on my keychain.
The Ryobi needs to become your "Nick Shabazz Delica". By that, of course I mean you should use it wearing a Batman mask.
1:11 endura 4 FRN?

This is smaller than the Dragonfly
The Ladybug is a touch smaller than the Dragonfly. It's got a much smaller handle but negligible difference in sharpened blade length.
Boy it's a good thing I make purchases after checking reviews and definitely not before... eheh... eheheh... Yep
Good review but I'd have liked to see a size comparison with a Maersk Triple E-class container ship.
