Importance of load profiles in engineering efficient PV systems

Marius Geldenhuys, master trainer for GREEN Solar Academy Gauteng, recently hosted a webinar on the importance of load profiles in engineering efficient PV systems.
“A load profile is a plot of power over time, giving you a log of your consumption. Without it, everything you do is basically guesswork,” says Marius, emphasising the need for precise system design.
He explains that understanding your load profile ensures your PV system is sized just right - not too small to meet demand, and not so large that it raises costs unnecessarily. It also helps account for variations in daily and seasonal usage, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
