    The benefit to the 40 megapixel is cropping in camera to get a true 20MP 50mm shot and a 10mp 70mm shot. I would not care about the higher megapixels on a interchangeable lens, but on the fixed lens it really makes this camera much more versatile.

      You can get the WCL or the TCL if you’d like a 28mm or a 50mm, they work for all X100 cameras and the quality doesn’t dissolve. I’m sticking to my guns on the 40mp is too much. Thanks so much for watching, subscribing and taking time to comment 🙏🏼 a

      Great point. IBIS and 40mp cropped to 20mm for 50mm perspective are both advantages as is 6/4k. I’ve seen some excellent video snippets from the VI where they knew how to get the best results by getting 4K via a high quality down sampling in camera (think it was something like HQ mode?).
      I’ve shot Canon pro gear for 34 yrs ever since the brilliant EOS1 came out. It still works fine today and is so simple to use, as an ex manual then A priority fan. My full on DSLR kit with L lenses weighs a ton and I’ll be 65 this week so light is best….
      The reasons I have got the VI are:
      Size, weight, weatherproofing (with a filter), great lens both 35mm equivalent and for sharpness, advanced video snips over an iPhone pro, optical VF with add ons, and the 40mp for all the right reasons, and finally film sims as I always used Fuji since I moved to Canon.
      I just spent a few hours yesterday scanning in some old family photos of my son in 1986 on a a Minox GT35 and my niece in 1990 on the EOS1, both were shot on Fuji. The negatives were excellent giving true to life colours but the Provia slides were amazing. So the VI will save me all that processing hassle.
      As an indicator, I took the Canon pro and Bronica MF kit in the early 1990s to the West Coast U.S.A. including the Grand Canyon and then to India. Each trip cost close on £1k in film, development and test printing. All the Fuji negs and slides look like the day they were shot. By the way 98+% of exposures were perfect, as I know how to use exp comp.
      I’m off to a tour of China in a few weeks. Thinking of just the VI, my friend’s good Panasonic hybrid with its 1200mm equivalent reach even though it’s only 16mp, it can do RAW and 4K. I may add in my EOSM5 and the great little 11-22 zoom for confined spaces.

    Great video Hunter and I said pretty much the same things in my x100 VI video I would’ve been far more impressed with the 26 megapixel stack sensor from the X H2 S because the faster read out speed in the better low light performance if they had couple that with the ibis, they would’ve had a grand slam

    It's simple, the X100 line and the Leica Q line are direct competitors. Previously, the only reason to own a Q3 was that the higher megapixels helped you retain resolution when cropping in. Now that the X100VI can do the same and has better OIS, the Q3 is a completely redundant tool.

    • @alexandergrafvonrothenstein
      @alexandergrafvonrothenstein 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A Leica Q3 from Germany is never redundant, but it costs more than the "Made in China" Fujifilm X100VI. But it has a fullframe sensor, 20MP more, the better lens.....and last but not least......it is a Leica ❤ The Fujifilm X100VI is a nice camera, but not the same. 🤷🏻
      Much greatings from Germany 😊

    • @sssf55
      @sssf55 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alexandergrafvonrothenstein Good point it's disappointing that they moved from made in Japan to made in China for the X100 line. I haven't used the X100VI to be able to tell if there is a significant difference in quality but that's a good observation.
      In terms of Image quality, the Q3 was slightly better than the X100V (more so in low light). But the X100V was a much faster camera in terms of autofocus and operation.
      The issue is that even though the Leica uses a larger sensor, its digital processing has not advanced significantly in years. Fuji's far superior processing on X-trans closes the gap quickly.
      I'm sorry if I'm coming off harsh. I love Leica cameras, but I feel that as a company they been advancing very slowly in the last decade. Leica needs to make better cameras if it is charging 4-5X the price of a Fuji, because there is little reason to buy one other than wanting a "Leica" experience.

    • @sauzefilms
      @sauzefilms 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      dont forget the Q3 has a full frame sensor with its own color science, it's properly weather-sealed (at least the 100VI is possible with a basic filter), has a proper focus tab and distance markings (helpful for zone focusing), and it's a German brand that's German-made. idk why you're saying it's redundant when they're different cameras.

    • @BrunoChalifour
      @BrunoChalifour 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only competition between the two is budget, and size maybe (but the size of the Q line may be an advantage over the Fuji X100 line whose small size (except for parking) some people may have a problem with).
      I think Fuji has been very careful, for whatever reason ;O), not to step too much on other competitors' toes and, for that matter, stay within the APS-C line. Both X pro and X100 lines (inspired by Leica M as far as their design and their pseudo rangefinders/viewfinders go) do not try to compete directly with Leica (which might be a reason why Leica seems to be discontinuing its APS-C line (TLs and Cs), just a hypothesis of mine here). Using a Q is a very different experience from using an X100 (the way they are built, the way one uses them, the sensor, the lens, the color science... in all these the Qs beat the X100s).

I already met 3 people that bought the X100VI. Nobody for shooting them self, but only for selling to a higher price later. My only digital gear are Fujifilm, but I think they are not really doing much good the last couple of years by developing cameras that focus on photography. I had a V for about a year and a half up until early last year. Had to sell it for financial reasons, but would have kept it if I could. The launch of the VI coincided perfectly with my finances getting back in order, so I went onto Facebook Marketplace and found a like-new V at a much more sensible price (compared to the crazy "hype pricing"). I also own an X-H2 with some lenses, so I already have access to the 40mp sensor and find it better suited to that camera and for what I use it for (though all purely for hobbyist photography). The V remains my favourite camera of all time and I have no intention of ever selling this one.

      That sounds like a pretty solid job! I was curious if you were a full time photography only kind of guy or if you were a side hustle guy. I can totally understand not worrying about the card slots if you aren't shooting weddings, I 100% get that. However, I have had 2 cards fail in the past 12 years of shooting weddings and one happened to be in the middle of a wedding earlier in my career using a Leica Q with one card slot as a second body. Luckily for me, I was smart enough to only be using that camera for fun creative shots and I only ended up losing about 45 images off of the couple hundred that I took. The fact is, you don't need an insurance policy or a seatbelt until you have had an accident. I have had a few accidents and I am glad I had that insurance and seatbelt both times. I know you are just giving me a hard time, but if an up and coming photographer reads advice or comments stating that you don't need 2 card slots and then they go out and lose an entire wedding (which would more than likely end their career) I would hate for that to be due to a comment on TH-cam that they have seen. I am sincere when I say thank you so much for calling me a talented photographer, that carries a lot of weight and I really appreciate you watching my videos and taking the time to comment. What is the real point of talking about a camera that you have not used yet and then spend the more than 50% of the video about the previous model(s) that have already been covered by so many??? Just create a buzz, become a sticky tape for flies? ;o)
    Let us face it this video is a waste of time for everyone involved.
    If the X100 series is so good (again, more than 50% of the video) then why the title? The X100-6 (VI) is just its latest iteration, with 40 Mp (that at least allow croppers to crop but also knowing the camera has got a fixed 23 mm lens 40 Mp can palliate that limitation for some).
    The difference in price is just a fraction of the total price and offers a new sensor (which is not just more pixel but improved technology) and two major steps I can think of and that makes upgrading reasonable: stabilisation (also welcome with 40 Mp) and better processor which may have some positive consequence on the auto-focus of the X100-5 (none of the X100 generations have really impressed me in that respect). As for the one-SDX-card slot, so fa it has always been the case, nothing new here. Just add it to your wish-list and send it to Fuji that may answer you they want to keep the camera compact and adding stabilisation was more important on many levels than a second slot.
    Except for the increased pixel count that you have a problem with (without having used the camera, may I remind ourselves of that fact)-and I would be curious to see compare a billboard shot with a 2 Mp camera and one with a 40 Mp one-all the qualities you mention are on the X100-6 plus IBIS (stabilisation) and faster processor, where is the problem? All the more as there is a demand for X100 models (and why not for a 40 Mp one with stabilisation and faster processor/AF?). Just thinking aloud here I guess.

      Your first sentence "I have been fortunate enough to have every X100 camera in the line-up until the sixth one which I don't currently have."... and the next one as well as the next 1 1/2 mn are all about the X100 VI and defining the topic of this video as "should you buy the X100-6"... these are just facts and I do n to need to be appeased, thank you. You do your thing (rather well I must say but it does not mean it is perfect, and that listening to justified critiques should be problematic) and I do mine...

      @@hunterhart1 Why should I add to a heap that I find rather indiscriminate? I'd rather teach workshops than produce TH-cam videos for a void, with real human contact and I do not want to become a videographer, I am a photographer... I do not seek to become "an internet influencer" with all that it does imply and that is not always that good. [some of them may have a tendency to take themselves too seriously and stop really and fairly listening. Humility is not the first quality of that world. The fact of having to be constantly present make them rapidly skip stages of learning, information, clear view, critical thinking... to the point of creating misleading title just to attract attention, not very ethical and responsible I have found]. I know where my expertise lies and I work at improving it, every day, without spilling it uncontrolled over the internet. That simple and honest I think (maybe wise too as you seem to acknowledge it ;o) [I do try and keep the impostors at bay and correct misleading information because, over the years, they have had a negative impact on what I do, namely my potential students: I often have to clean their slates of misinformation before they can be open to anything else that is more informed and more honest]. "Oozing with wisdom" I would definitely go that far, just trying to be fair, informed and honest and not venture and have an opinion on things I do not know or master (and yes, it is an daily job ;o)

      I would love more info on your workshops because I lead them as well as attend them. Could you drop a website? You have so much to learn from, I would like to look into becoming a student of yours. @@BrunoChalifour

      Oh you’re the guy that claims they were stolen from someone else who I eventually looked up and their website was created after my presets. Funny thing is… wouldn’t it be easier for a large creator to knock off a small one and reap the benefits?? Maybe you should take off your rose colored glasses Jia

      Hunter and his WIFE are some of nicest and most genuine people you’ll meet. To have the audacity to post something so slanderous is really lame and sad honestly. If you have a problem with him you should probably contact him personally instead of launching attacks behind your keyboard.
