That is indeed the legendary Boogaloo Sam performing with STREETSCAPE, a pioneering Canadian group instrumental in introducing Popping, Boogaloo and Funk styles to Canada between 1981-1985! Boogaloo Sam came up and joined us for a number of performances in 1984 when this was taped after a recommendation from his brother, dance legend Popin Pete, and friend Roderick Calhoun. Thanks for the post. That's me talking in the intro about photos from one of my old scrapbooks. It was an honor to learn and perform with him. Thanks for the post! - Bradley "Shooz" Rapier (founder of The Groovaloos / original member of StreetScape:)
white guy is Colin "Steamboat" Bloudoff. He's from Canada and was one of the founding members of the group Streetscape. Boogaloo Sam danced with the group in Canada for about 4 months. The other popper was Wayne "The Saint" Headley, the other founding member. The other two street dancers, also members of Streetscape, are Paul "The Ripple" Lewis, and Bradley "Shooz" Rapier (now the founder of The Groovaloos).
to answer some questions , those guys are from canada. boogaloo sam went up there that year and hooked up with Bradley aka Shooz from " The Groovaloos ". you can contact him , they have a website ! peace and one love THE SIK ONE
Typical the 48 people who thumb's down this vid has no clue what real west coast boogaloo truly is! I started "pop'n" at 10 1980 and today im still off the rictor today. I love the oldschool we invented B Boy'n😎
StreetScape was formed in Calgary Alberta in '81/82. The founding members were Colin "Steamboat" Bloudoff (the infamous white guy:), Wayne "The Saint" Headley, Paul "Ripple" Lewis, and myself, Bradley "Breaking Brad" Rapier. Colin started the group and had a locking background. It was Wayne who learned Boogaloo first hand down in Long Beach through a man named Roderick Calhoun. Roderick connected StreetScape first with Mark "King Boogaloo Tut" Benson, and then Boogaloo Sam.
@@PhatDimes Boogaloo Sam is in the all black suit with white buttons wearing a hat, Wayne is the other man in a suit and hat wearing sunglasses, I have on blue pants, Paul has on the red pants and white shirt.
yea they did and MJ surounded himself with great dancers. Its great all these guys i really respect. Lanier2 sent me a message that was very informative about all this thanks for that
man that white guy has the perfect look for that routine. he looks like a damn schoolteacher from the 60s. i think the first guy is sam, and is that jazzy with the uberfunk?
ohh didnt he? oh ok i thought it was only boogaloo shrimp that tought him coz he was mjs instructor for some time.. and thought u ment mj stole it coz alot of pple r saying he stole it.who teached MJ the moonwalk anywayz?
Awesome...Nice comment my man. idk if you're African American....I see your name ...but it could be just that . I have actually had people on TH-cam tell me white people have no business doing this style of dancing . ☹️ Skin color should be irrelevant , if you can dance it doesn't matter what color you are.
Btw ...I'm a 55 year old white guy here...I grew up on Electric Boogaloo , Soul Train , radio stations with DJs mixing records ..All of this stuff is all I really know .
@schizoidchimp, I am black and I wouldn't at all be offended by what you said. In fact I think it is funny and get your point. I don't like the comments people are making about being shocked the white dude can dance. So many white people are great dancers. Some of the best hip hop dancers that were featured on SYTYCD were white. So what? people need to stop bringing race into and just dance. The only time race can be discussed is when we say that Asians are taking over.
Absolutely!!! I have been thinking about doing ASL interpretations of some pop tunes just for the deaf community, but subtitles sounds a lot less embarrassing!!!I am already a member of a facebook group that focuses on subtitling movies. My brother-in-law works for a major cinema as IT person, and promotes subtitling online and in life. Contact me!!!
