Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Gee, I empty the drip tray almost every time I use it and I wash it out fairly frequently. I also put a small jug under the steam wand when it purges so no milky water needs to enter the drip tray. Cleaning up as you finish is part of the coffee making ritual both for the coffee machine and the grinder. When I grind my coffee with the Smart Pro, I catch any of the spill over into the included grinder jar and use it later to make a pour over filter coffee so I am not wasting any extra ground coffee, By the way, In North America ( and elsewhere?) the Bambino Plus came out before the cheaper Bambino. I actually have both machines and would definitely recommend spending the extra money for the Bambino Plus.
Hi Nick, thanks for this insightful review. Just wondering what website you got your deal from? I'm looking for this exact set up and struggling to find any discount or package deals. Thanks so much 👍🏼
Hi! Thanks. I got lucky, right time right place. I was hunting for codes and discounts on the Hot Deals UK website. I found the code, it worked and the rest is history!
Thanks for this one mate. Very handy
Thanks for watching!
Great review, super clear and might just be the vid that pushes me to get these! I’m totally new to this level of coffee - is the grinder totally necessary to begin with or will the machine + preground coffee still make something drinkable. I’m not aiming too high hah.
Thank you! You can use ground coffee, you can get 250gram bags from the shop and they’ll work fine to get your started. Once you get into it though, you’ll probably want to grind your own beans and perfect a coffee
Also a beginner here and thought I’d chime in. You really really want to use fresh beans. The difference I’ve experienced from using preground beans vs fresh is 100% worth it.
However I’ve tried the Smart Grinder Pro and don’t recommend it. Just too many downsides for me
Peter
I've had the Bambino plus for over a year. Still makes great coffee. I put a cup under the spout when purging the frother
Why didn’t I think of that! I have to put a bowl underneath to descale or clean. Glad your machine is still going strong.
Very nice video... I am currently struggling with the dial in... could you please share grind size, time in grinder pro, as well as basket and if infusion time was changed in bambino?
I do fiddle and varies on the beans but right now, grind is 10, grind time is 8.6 seconds, double basket, two shot button. Gives me a strong shot, nice crema and then top up with milk.
After I pour milk into the coffee cup, I put the jug under the wand for purging. That way I don’t have any milk drain into the drip tray. (I also put the jug under the group head and push the one cup button to clean the shower-head). The only water that enters the drip tray is from the solenoid valve.
Yes! I've started doing this and does save alot of cleaning. I never thought to do it originally and just let it all collect in the tray, and quite quickly too.
Could you please give a short comparison with your previous Breville Barista Max? I just got the Barista Max and I am thinking if I made the right choice or should I upgrade to a Sage? Thanks!
Unfortunately I had continued issues with the Max, a leak, a pump issue I think and in the end I got a refund and purchased the Sage set up. I may have been unlucky as I know some people love the machine, or the quality of components in the Max we’re not up to making 2/3 coffees per day. To date, the Sage hasn’t given me any grief and is performing well.
I love my plus, I did get a different grinder, the Baratza Sette 30.
Oh cool! I’ve not heard of that one before, any good?
@@TechNuovo For the price, grinds really fast and well. If you want to be crazy accurate with particle size, there's an attachment that can be purchased, a little over kill for me.
Can I ask what your setting are on the grinder pro? It’s probably my coffee type but I find I don’t get the creama that you seem to. Thanks so much
Hi! Beans play such a big part, the type, the freshness, a 4 day old open pack (as the hopper can’t take 1kg), it makes such a difference.
On the grinder, 8.8grams output at 13 grind but I do change the grind every so often depending on what the beans are doing.
Since I don’t have a scale, I can't weigh it while making coffee. I need to make it according to the time in the grinder, at least until I get a scale... I don't know if my coffee beans are too roasted, but even though I've tried many ways of espresso, it always comes out very sour and bitter. What settings do you use when making singles and doubles?
It’s all about trail and error. Current beans, I’m doing a double shot at 10.6grams and coarse of 7, which works for me.
I've got the bambino plus using my own grinder and single wall basket. Problem is whenever I'm pulling the coffee (doesn't matter if I'm using the single shot bottom less or the two shot with bottom) it's not running out in a smooth line but spilling all over the cup. Any Idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it?
Hmm, not too sure! Everything clean and not clogged anywhere? Try different corse of coffee and amounts. Whats the coffee puck look like after pulling a shot?
Thank you so much for this review! Does anybody around know if I could go better with a Gaggia classic pro?
Thanks for watching and great question! The classic pro was a contender instead of this but out of my budget at the time. Keen to see some replies on this.
@@TechNuovo So kind of you to reply, and so quickly! You have earned my sub!
Hi, i was considering gaggia but went to Bambino for integrated pid, extremely fast hot water and size and its simple for my wife to use, no more temp surfing and other coffee vodoo shit
Just received the Bambino plus and am struggling to get 6mm of coffee fluid in bottom of cup.....any ideas what we are doing wrong? Do you have to hold the cup buttons in while its dispensing the pressured water through?
Hi! No, you dont need to hold the buttons in. What coffee are you using, are you grinding yourself? I imagine it's the coarse'ness of your coffee thats restricting the flow.
i don't have a grinder as of yet, so usually get my coffee grounded at coffee shop, i have the bambino. im normally getting around 32 secs for about 29g of coffee, thoughts? okay? i know it should be higher :( but i can't do much due to already grounded
That doesnt sound too bad at all. Depending on the beans and coarseness, I could be 25-35seconds and get a nice shot.
For SAGE Bambino Plus SES500 which tamper to look for 54mm or 53mm?
I would like to buy a MOTTA 54mm but I don't know if it will be too big?
It's a 54mm portafilter and they typically say go down a size for tamper. The plastic tamper provided with the machine measure 53mm so i'd say getting the MOTTA 54 is a risk.
@@TechNuovo thank you
That was a hell of a discount. How did you get it?
Popped up on Hot Deals UK, scrolling through, right time right place I guess.
So lucky I paid £380 for mine 😢
Do these only come with a pressurized basket or?
They come with both.
I thought it had 9bar pressure not 15
I had a Bambino plus until it broke down when all the lights suddenly started to flash. It was nothing to do with cleaning or descaling. The machine was unworkable. I then bought the Duo-temp pro for £299.00. This is streets ahead of the Bambino plus in every aspect.
Interesting! What do you think makes it that much better?
Can you use pre ground coffee on this machine?
You can, yes but make sure it's fine enough!
And use the pressurized baskets.
@@mckeanbrosoffroad150 Yes! Thanks for pointing that out.
Grinder setting and dose (grams)?
Right now 14 on the grind, 8.6grams, double shot / basket for me. It does vary though depending on the beans at the time.
I need help please… My Bambino Plus is not making coffee shot
Is it making any noises? Lights are on? Water is full? Silly questions I know! When i bought mine, it came with a 2yr warranty, are you still in that period?
If your coffee is too fine, it won't pull a shot
Try courser grind until you get the right flow.
Should I buy the Bambino or the Bambino Plus?
Price difference where you are? The difference is the auto milk which IS very very handy...
Is this the same machine as breville bambino plus?
Yes. It’s Sage in Europe, Breville in the US.
and then Sunbeam over in AUS :D
@@TechNuovo No, Breville is an Aust company and it's Breville in Aust. Sunbeam is a completely different company. The only reason Breville changed to Sage in Europe was that there was already a European company called Breville, and it was cheaper and easier to change the name to Sage than contest naming rights.
I thought it was 9bar pressure?
Sorry, I should have made that clearer. It's a 15bar pump, pressure at 9bar during extraction.
@@TechNuovo ahh ok thanks!
what beans do you use?
We used to get a 1kg bag at a time from various brands to try them out but always seem to go back to Lavazza Rossa (red bag)
Ditch the water filters completely by using bottled water 🙂
Id like to think that helps but feels a bit 'extra' buying bottled water :D
I should clarify, I live in a hard water area and the natural PH level in bottled water keeps limescale buildup to a minimum
Get a tap filter, even a filter jub, be better than any bottled stuff
