"What did you think I was gonna spend it on?" Gets a half-hearted laugh. What a poor audience. Best joke of the night. Bravo Steve. Immensely underrated comedian and person.
Maybe they heard it in 2003 as a lyric in the popular chart hit "Underwear Goes Inside The Pants," by Lazyboy, and didn't find it hilarious the second time around.
My brother ran away from home once as a young teenage boy, and was freezing cold and miserable one night in an open tunnel where homeless people went to sleep. He was curled up shivering, when an old homeless man came over and gave my brother his blanket and half a bottle of Port wine to help with the cold. The guy only had what he carried with him, but he was still wiling to share what little he did have. I never met the homeless guy and I have no idea what he looks like, but his act of charity I will never forget.
Do you people remember when it turned out that Bono Vox's charity organisation kept 98% of all the money for running itself and when they confronted Bono with this he merely said that he never claimed to help directly to poor people in Africa and his job was only to raise the awareness that those people need to be helped. What a f*cking hypocrite. Punch worthy IMHO.
There's this story about U2 playing live in Scotland. Band went quiet, Bono slowly clapped his hands and said: "Everytime I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies." ... and someone in audience immediately yelled: "Well stop doin' it then ya bloody bastard!!!"
I got grief from people I was out with when I gave money to a homeless guy (he was defo a few beers in) because they said "he'll only spend it on booze", and that's why I gave it him because him never tried any bullshit about a cup of tea/coffee or train/bus fare.
I care. As someone who has all I need (shelter, food, clothes etc.) I feel like it's my social obligation to help out those less fortunate than me. I don't care if they're playing guitar or not, if I have money that they need more than I do, surely it's my responsibility to help them out.
Steve Hughes was already my favourite Comedian. That’s the biggest laugh he’s ever given me, and the most I’ve seen him enjoy himself on stage. Bless his soul for speaking the truth in such a disarming manner 🙏
Wow, I just found a video before this and was like this guy is awesome and when I saw this vid listing I was like oh shit, is he gonna piss me off right after I just got into him by talking shit about the homeless, but I clicked anyway and I am very impressed. This is one of my new favorite comedians now.
Every single time he picks up his drink I just want him to at least take a sip of it before putting it back down. But I get why it's there. having something to mess around with and make him feel comfortable is why it's there.
I've served at soup kitchens and let me tell you, when someone holds up a sign saying they need money for food they are usually telling the truth. They don't want to hold up that sign. Do you have any clue how hard it is to get off the streets? You can't get a job without an address these days, which is tricky when you're homeless. Many of them are simply trapped. Develop some real compassion.

80 Slim Shady's I think it's a 'what are your actual core values' situation. Some people absolutely would beg, borrow or steal. Some, safe to say most, wouldn't. And judging from the amount of homeless and the relative lack of B&Es and robberies, the amount of people willing to sacrifice their values for personal gain isn't super high when the chips are down.
These days anybody can be fucked and even if you made a few mistakes and that is why you are homeless, fuck it, show a little mercy. These days you make one mistake and everyone feels entitled to judge you.
You ever consider that they're reduced to begging because they're unable to work? How about rather than being so selfish that someone needs to offer you something for you to help them, you get some humanity and help someone out simply because they need it?

I remember a homeless woman and I can only assume her son sitting outside a shop begging. Feeling good that day I walked to the deli counter and bought two sausage rolls, not amazing but it was something, and gave one to each. The woman took it off the child and threw it on the road and shouted at me pointing to her hand and yelling "money! money!" I told her to f**k off but I felt so sorry for the kid, he looked starving.
I absolutely love this and relevant today, Government " why are you taking care of your own health, you can't do that you don't know what your doing. What you do is let us worrie about it, and we will make sure your ok"
I don't see how humanity hopes to evolve when people cannot spare anything to those who have less than them. People such as yourself will only give money when you think you'll get something in return. Giving something to someone who has very little is called charity, it is a selfless and moral act, I suggest you try it, it makes humanity a whole lot better.
I don't give a crap where my money goes after it leaves my hands. But if I am feeling the pinch of a budget, I have too be blunt and say no, not today.

Great sketch. What is the reference to '20 to 1'? 'Well no you don't, unless you're following it along and I've got a feeling you're watching 20 to 1."

My mate was coming out of a church and a fella said "Can you spare some change for a cup of tea mister?" My pal said "I have only got a fifty pound note, sorry!" The fact that he/she wrote it in caps jsut makes it clearer that this time it was on purpose. Though some people might to far up their own asses to understand sarcasm.
+The Logical It's a vicious cycle. I would save my money, but I'm paying %15 into social security that I can't opt out of, of which I'll never see a penny and I'm forced to pay for car insurance on a car I can't drive unless I pay for tags to drive a car I bought.
and even if you do buy a house, most countries have a property tax so you are basically renting your own house from the state - you miss payments, YOU'RE OUT! and you thought it was yours, lol.
I don't think homeless people have a problem, I think people have a problem with the homeless. I don't think the government agencies and religious charities work well. I say a lot of random shit on here and I keep trying to do better but in this matter I am not talking shit. In our moder society that is heavily monitored and P.C. controlled, it's very easy to get thrown under the bus when things don't go well. You can't help everybody because not everybody is ready for help but as a society we have failed to come together as a community and help those we can and instead expect the government, charities, and religious institutions to do it for us. WE need to do more.
The video was cut right b4 the important bit, we got a little towards the end but another few seconds would've been great. Good job the full set is still on utube though....
Every big fundraiser that I have gone to for the homeless served alcohol. Now I just cut out the middle man. Plus. I remember from staying out all night for concert tickets back in the day that drinking made it seem less cold. So what the fuck the homeless are suffering enough, I say let them have whatever comfort they can find.
haha yeah, dude I dont doubt that sometimes the "i need beer" story is just as false as the lost bus ticket. I guess im hoping that of all the change I hand out, a decent portion of it is going towards many, many alcoholic beverages :)
Have helped the homeless but was a bit put off 2 years ago - guy asks me for money - I bought him a sandwich and he threw it at me .. tried not to take it personally, hey who knows? maybe he really doesn't like chicken .. or maybe it is because he couldn't snort a sandwich - but throwing it? couldn't help but be p/o'd returning to work wearing the stains of my generosity..
Saw a building manager throw a homeless guys blankets and small possessions off the building and onto the street. Well that building manager was sorry when 4of us tradies went out and said if you don't put that guys stuff back now and don't ever touch it again we'll be back to sort you out. He apologized. The public who saw it all happen clapped.
Don't get me wrong mate, i don't judge any of the homeless. It's a common problem in so many societies and it really is a terrible thing in this day and age. There's not enough support out there for them and that's wrong. All i was saying is that everyone feels immune to that outcome and we're not, it really can happen to anyone. I stick with what i said though, a lot of homelessness is caused because they dropped out of school for crime and drugs - that's not "making a mistake", in my opinion.
If they do spend the money on drink and drugs it is both understandable and probably safer: If I give them a fiver it could mean not having to prostitute, steal or sell their important items.
What do you think about TH-cam doing pay per view PPV on certain channels on TH-cam ? Will be good for comedians? Judging whether to give money to a homeless person is quite tricky as it's hard to know their personal circumstances as to how they ended up in that position. In my town, we have homeless people who got into that position through drugs or crime etc; to which i don't support. However there's one guy that was actually quite wealthy, he made bad investment choices and lost everything - now he can't get a job etc due to being homeless. Sad story. Makes me realise it can happen to anybody really.
So can drugs and crime. How do you know what led them to the drugs and crime? Not all people have good options. Sometimes the only options in situations are the bad ones. If you truly love and want to help the poor, then you don't get to judge them while you do it
If I have my doubt about those homeless people I would buy them a meal rather than giving them cash; in that way I don't feel bad in not meeting with their begging !
I havent seen it here yet, but in many european cities, some women carry infants around in all sorts of harsh weather conditions, begging. The poor kid looks like its on the verge of death. Most people feel sorry for the kid, and pay up. This only encourages people to do it. For the childs sake, I dont support them. However, im happy to donate to someone who is playing music, or telling jokes, or who simply comes out with the truth "Can you spare some, so that I can get a beer?" Fuck yeah i can!
So you're happy to donate to people doing things for you, but not to someone with a starving child? How does not supporting them go for the child's sake? And what do you do instead to help them? If that kid needs to eat, how is not helping them on moral grounds gonna feed them? You think the mother wants to have to rely on the sympathy of strangers to feed her child and herself? And if they're not legit? I would rather take the chance of my money going to someone who's not legit than withold food from a starving kid and mother
@@alisonpurgatory85 ha! You’re virtue signalling and ignorant. These children are being exploited. Don’t you understand that? You’d be supporting the exploitation of children by giving them money. It’s idiots like you that they’re preying on. Wise up.
About 70% of all ads on Sky nowadays are charities asking for money. The poor in Africa want a well, children in India being married off at 9, £2 a month, £5 a month, £4 this, £3.50 that. One even wants you to leave a cash sum in your fucking will. What the hell is going on here? Have you seen the sad looks on their faces in these adverts? They I imagine the director of these adverts telling them to look as sad as possible, "Look sad for the camera....maybe squeeze out a tear". Of course it's an exploitative business, unless you go there yourself and make a difference, giving money to these so-called charities is a waste of your time and money and for what, to ease your concience a bit? Playing on your heart strings. Go there and build a well, or help build it, but don't give money to charities.
I would shy away from showcasing yourself as a show-off and practically saying that you're smarter than me because supposedly I don't get that it's a joke. Of course IT'S A BLOODY JOKE, I certainly get that, I just couldn't help but wondering though what would happen in such a situation here in Israel, because I'm from Israel, duh !!! :)

Funny bloke.
Big iusse i sell it lol
