With launch there's a lot of misinformation going around surrounding the MTX so here's my thoughts: 1) Reviewers were aware of the MTX beforehand, they weren't stealthed in. I looked at em, saw a bunch of unnecessary shit and never thought about them again. Same as MHW, RE4, DMC5, etc. It's a bunch of pointless shit that you earn just playing the game. Yes MTX are shitty. No I don't give a shit about them. 2) "Fast travel is pay-gated" You get 5-6 port crystals in game and ferrystones drop frequently in end-game, nothing is pay gated. 3) "You have to pay to change your character" You get 2-3 changes at the in-game shop per playthrough and everytime you start a NG+ cycle. You'd need to do 4+ complete character overhauls in a single playthrough before you'd pay $$. 4) "Save is locked behind cloud" You can delete your save and restart, even though that is fucking dumb and shouldn't have to be the case. I get people being upset about performance, and people are always gonna bitch about MTX as expected, but the blatant amount of misinformation being pushed around for shit that's false is whack. If you're mad that MTX exist I get you, but let's not spread fake news about shit that's not true.

Favorite part of the video: "just look how beefy this sounds". Hard cut to TH-cam ad: Paleovalley naturally fermented beef sticks. Yep, that's one beefy-sounding weapon.
Surprised enemy variety and the rate at which you encounter enemies was never mentioned. 90% of the time you run around the wilderness you're fighting just goblins, wolves, and harpies like every 30m you run.
Its was the CPU that was struggling not the graphics card. The amount of people who dont understand its not just your graphics card that affects frame rate is scary.
These companies are not using Cpu's and graphics cards from 10 years in the future when they are making and playtesting this stuff.Their is no excuse for performance issues .

I have a feeling we will get at least one DLC, most likely similar to BitterBlack considering how much people loved that DLC, myself included. I’d be surprised if they don’t put it out within the next 1-2 years, though they did take 12 years to put this game out.
I like how you can switch over to vocations and distribute your skills equally instead of commiting to them for different game files. Something I wish more RPGs would allow.
You just start another vocation? But when I switch I can't use weapons from the other class so how is he a magic archer and .sytic spearhead at the same time I'm not getting it?
Hey like a 47 year old guy, I'm 66 and had been following your videos on souls game like a holy grail albeit 6 or 7 years later. Joined your community, should have done long back but better late than never. 24 hours to go for dragons dogma 2. I'm confident you'll be there to guide me through. God bless
I tried severe times to get into the first one, but couldn’t. The combat was really great, but I felt lost and didn’t know where to go or what to do. I’ve since found out that’s intentional, so Im hoping with that knowledge in mind I’ll be able to press through on this one and even possibly go back to 1.
I'm also loving the new animations and effects for Maelstrom. I can see a Maelstrom, dragon punching (Shoryuken-ing), helm-splitting Magick archer-ing Warfarer on the horizon (if possible)
It’s heartening to see so many gamers that’s around my age (44-50) enjoying challenging games like Sekiro, Elden Rings and sharing that journey together with Mr Cowboy. You are a rock star! Also: currently stuck on Owl (Father) on my first Sekiro play through with Mr Cowboy as my mentor😊
After dumping 80+ hours into this game I had to come back to this review and say I am struggling to understand how you came to the conclusion this game is a masterpiece. The combat and world are cool just like the first DD but this game is a complete and utter broken mess on almost every level not even including the MASSIVE performance issues I have experienced on pc. With almost every quest I did in the game breaking and constant bugs and random glitches having me stop and look up what the hell was going on it continually became apparent that this game was shipped completely unfinished. In just one of my many broken quests the npc randomly died at some point and I thought I was going insane trying to finish it as I had no idea who the npc was so I had to look all of this up on a guide to figure out wtf was happening meanwhile I have these random encounters throwing time based quests on top of the initial quest I’m trying to complete which I had to auto fail as I couldn’t travel where they wanted me to as I was too busy trying to find a dead npc to complete the quest. My entire quest experience throughout the game was truly awful and confusing to the point of frustration. Not that the quests really are good in the first place. The story starts off well enough and starts to turn into a bunch of convoluted nonsense all at once later making everything a confusing mess. I still had fun with the different classes and pawn system as well as some of the exploration but outside of that the game is really a backwards step for this series unless they patch the living shit out of this. I think more people will come to this conclusion after finishing the game and I’m wondering why it is receiving such high praise at this time. It’s still fun combat wise and there is some enjoyment to be had but a masterpiece is far from what I would call this. I would call it a fun but overall disappointing sequel. I could not recommend this to my friends right now without warning them the game is mostly broken so how can it be a “modern masterpiece” ? We are once again left with very cool ideas stuck in a complete mess of a game and this was how I felt about the first one tbh. It is a shame and the years of waiting don’t help anything so I feel pretty mislead having seen all the praise when other game companies would not get a pass on this. I will continue to hope major patches are incoming.
I didn't have the technical issues given my PC so that wasn't an issue but I still called it out. As for quests it sounds likr user error tbh. Only time I had quests fail was from pushing the MSQ too far by mistake and locking me out, like evacuating 1 city and it turned out I needed those folks to finish a different cities quest. That's not the games fault tho.
@@FightinCowboy I was explicitly giving an example where it could not have been user error in this instance to convey it was the game itself. The npc getting killed across the map and disappearing had nothing to do with me cause I was not there. Last time I saw the npc it was alive. Most of the mechanics and quests seem designed to drag out the game rather than provide an experience although there are a couple enjoyable ones, this example took me an hour to get back to the morgue then revive then go back to the location then progress the quest which is ass after finding out I already wasted hours trying to solve an unsolvable quest at the time. Other examples would be the next part of a quest having no marker or destination or action that will advance the quest which usually turns into you are supposed to tackle a person. You could account that for user error but why would they not just put “apprehend” this npc or something similar in the quest description after detailed quest descriptions until that point. It’s almost like they barely finished the quests and planned to patch it and we are ignoring that when we are scrutinizing other companies for less. Capcom won’t fix the game if they think it’s a masterpiece already we gotta make sure they are aware of these major problems in the game. I’m hoping they patch things up and we can get an update video soon going over the feedback on the game and how they have handled it so I’ll keep an eye out for that 🤙🏻
@@butterflap on ps5, the game deleted my many Inn saves and manual saves. I lost over 35 hours and a new pawn I had created. It set me back to a random old save near the beginning with my old pawn. Before I stopped because of this, I was finding the game a bit boring and easy. Same small enemies you have to fight between cities and towns which after level 20 felt more like a chore than fun. Inventory management was a joke, nothing enjoyable about it. I honestly stopped feeling the need or want to pick anything up. Combat was fun initially, but isn’t something I would yearn for after time. I really don’t understand how this could be a masterpiece either, perhaps I don’t have the same preferences in an rpg anymore as cowboy 🤷♂️ . I really wish I didn’t spend $70 on this game.
Agreed, this and many other reviews are either fully dilluded or simply overinvested in the games combat. The quests and systems that control quest completion are utter dogshit. Vanilla skyrim was more consistent and dynamic than this game. Im going on 120 hours in my first playthrough and have yet to be able to finish a quest without reloading because something broke. Didnt even know a dragon attacked melve until i looked up a guide for the mystic maister skill. Gonna have to wait for NG+ and hope that encounter doesnt break again so i can have a chance at the quest that lets me get it, but cant forget if i kill the drake in melve then i cant get the quest to get the miester skill, because, you know, the quest systems in this game are dogshit and leave no room for dynamic completion.
Im also running a 7950x and 7900xt, 64 gigs of ram and a state of the art NVME, still have poor preformance for my system, so stuff that "im not having technical issues" up ur ass Mr.TH-camr sir, and open ur eyes. I can see the stuttering in the recording you posted.
How's the enemy variety feel during the day-to-day overworld exploration? My main complaint in DD1 was how burnt out on wolves, bandits, goblins, harpies, and skeletons I was outside of dungeons and whatnot.
@@XxWolfxWaRioRxX Seems he wont but I will. Luke constantly proclaims things as facts when he does little to no research on the matter. Like he also makes 20-40 minute long videos on topics that really boil down to "In my opinion this thing is bad in games" but says it in a way as if it's objective, then give that same thing a positive rating in a different game. He has given misinformation before on quite a few games, saying he has put "hundreds of hours" into games, but still gets the most basic information wrong on said games. He's a known plagiarist. However, that was 6 years ago so take it as you will, maybe he's changed. I don't want to write a wall cause 99% of people wont read it, but all in all he says a lot of nothing in his "critiques", padded with fluff words and nonesense. i would agree but lets not act like other games like ds1 didnt run like shit and are now masterpieces. this game is trash for the mobile microtransactions in a single player game
yeah it's frustrating but as one of these other comments said, games like ds1 were broken asf on launch. I wouldn't buy it now because the launch is unforgivable but the game is gonna be worth playing once fixed
I loved this game when it first came out and no one I knew ever played it. It never got much attention. It's crazy there is a sequel and many eyes are now looking at the franchise.
Yeah it's definitely one of those games where the recognition came a couple years after release. tons of those "so I finally played..." type vids which are like "how the hell did I miss this at launch?!"
The real question is… have you found/beaten the Sphinx yet, Cowboy? And if you miss if first time round, does it appear in subsequent NG+ playthroughs?
I like DD2 but I still think DD1>DD2 when it comes to overall story and music and many other things. If this is Itsuno's completed vision....I don't know what his true vision was. Its not nostalgia either because I 100% DD1 before DD2 before DD2 came out.
I play on ps5 textes and frames drop randomly extremely buggy Audio never matches up with the mouths combat is the only good Element just very underwhelming for 70$
Read the pinned, basically people are upset Capcom did the same pointless micros they do in all their games. It's a bunch of shit you find just playing the game but Gamers are bent out of shape over it. Performance concerns are legit however. If game runs on your system its peak, if not refund and wait for patching
I don't get it why are people defending microtransactions with: "You can buy those things with in game money", "It's a Capcom game so it's a normal", "It doesn't matter, just ignore it." No, it does matter, you can't just wave it of and let them get away with this, it sounds like these people have a stockholm syndrom or something. It especially infuriating, when in pevious years we got games like Elden ring and Baldur's gate and even still some gamers defend the microtransactions.
No one cared with monster hunter world or resident evil. Suddenly it’s different. They aren’t going away. You aren’t fighting a war. You already lost. They don’t care about you or your pouting. You don’t have to like it, but they ARE going to get away with it. There’s literally nothing you can do, zero, you can do to change it. Even if everyone boycotted the game, they would just think no one liked dragons dogma 2.
"let them get away with it"....its their game they can do as they please rhe same way ylu can spend your money as you please. Its not like they are doing anything particularly nefarious like loot boxes.
@@burns0100 Yeah Maybe on a steam deck, but I'll just wait for the release patch and see how it performs on other specs. RE engine is one of the most optimized engines so I'm surprised, DMC5 looks amazing even in 2024 and runs 144fps caped for me
A big map where 90% of it looks the same is hardly a masterpiece. Mostly bland with same rocks and green. There are just enough decent story to satisfy the average Souls fan. But a very rich lore, world and memorable characters like Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, it is not.
I’m about 20 hours in with mostly exploration. I liked the first DD a lot. I just can’t keep from thinking they missed a huge opportunity in excluding multiplayer/coop, even if limited.
Luke stephens ran this on this computer, ps5, lower end pcs and he answered the performance. He was seeing drops from 70 fps to the 20s in cities. A lot of pop in and loading of npcs in cities from 20 feet away, etc. Might get patched. He shows footage of it
Idk about this one. I bought it cause of the hype but the camera feels awful in this game. Only one save file is actually insane in 2024. Haven't had too many performance issues but now they're introducing microtransactions in an $80 game?
So the fast travel item is supposed to be rare because "they made exploration fun and that's how its meant to be played" but then they introduce mtx for unlimited fast travel? What?
I played the demo and the world just feels empty and bland. The characters have no depth and non energetic. Enemy types seem very lacking for a vast open world. The combat, character creation and pawn system are amazing but this game is just missing so much. This sequel feels more like they just remade the original by adding better texture models and graphical upgrades. Also, the towns and castle areas feel empty and flat. Doesnt feel like a true sequel. I was gonna buy it but i may just wait for Monster Hunter Wilds or when DD2 is like $20-$30 on a sale.
User scores on steam are as useful as using a spoon to cut a steak. Those are the same clowns that like review bombing right ? Because their sensitive and stupid. Go play the game yourself and build your own thoughts, or are you too lazy as well?
Looks good, but I didn't click with the first game, and this is getting hammered on Steam. Listed as "mostly negative". Apparently the final release is flooded with terrible micro-transactions including charging people real money to change their character appearance, and copy protection bugs that are banning people from playing for no reason. Think I'll hold off to see if these issues are addressed.
The micros aren't even needed, you can buy the items in game to change your character appearance without spending a dime, but people see micros and pop a vein regardless.
@@FightinCowboy Doesn't matter. The fact that they are there, in a single-player game, means that the game design was compromised in some way to accommodate microtransactions. Also, locking saves on a Capcom server to charge people money to change a character's looks seems wrong. What if the servers shut down, all my game progress is suddenly gone, right? And locking fast travel behind a paywall? All that crap in a premium-priced single-player game? Come on, I get it, you had fun, but defending this crap isn't a good look at all...
You get 3 character changes in game without spending any money. Fast travel also isn't locked behind a paywall I dunno who told you that bullshit. You can farm infinite ferrystones. I'm not out here defending micros, I don't buy em anyway and just ignore them, I'm out here defending the ridiculous amount of misinformation being spread. Also what is this "character locked to server unchangeable" bullshit? You just delete your save and start over if you want, there is no server lock. I did it myself pre-launch.
From what I read, fast travels aren't locked behind a paywall. They're just cheaper if you pay real money. Which seems bad but it's money making in a world where devs are struggling to survive. I have no issue with that. Only have issue if they're locking basic game mechanics behind a paywall, or if it had multiplayer and it was "pay to win"
In the first game, after beating it, you could re-make the appearence of your character and pawn, will this game have this option too? I would like to make a beastren Arisen for my second run, but I've heard from Ratatoskr that you cannot restart the game for some reason, so this is an important aspect for me. I know there is at least one item in the game that allows this but I wonder if the number of times you can alter your appearence are limited.
Yes you can. Everytime you start a NG+ cycle you can import and tweak or change your character. He was prob referring to starting a fresh game which involved purging the save file and is rather tricky.
@@FightinCowboy thank you for the clarification. Only thing left to hope is for the performance issues to be less severe on the final build, I have a medium tier build pc and, even though I upgraded my cpu just for this game, I still fear it's not going to be enough. I hope I can at least look forward to 30 stable fps at medium/high graphical settings.
You could buy a "Secret of Metamorphosis" scroll from a vendor in the Encampment in the first game for RC which unlocked the ability to edit your character and pawn any time you wanted. There is also a barber shop in Gran Soren that allowed you to change make-up, hairstyles, etc. but not everything.
@@theobell2002 I also wonder if Rift Crystals can be earned by other means than renting your pawn, does somebody know if they are a rare loot from enemies/chests like in the first game?
1) Does anyone recommend going back and playing the first? 2) Classes for this remind me of Code Vein - kinda how equipping a code changes your stats and then you can have permanent once you work with one enough
Judging from Steam reviews this game is a complete dumpster fire of a release. Micro transactions in a single player game, terrible performance issues, extremely buggy and broken… Glad I’m waiting this one out. Horizon Forbidden West on PC is way more interesting right now.
The microtransactions are fine. It's a singleplayer game and just about all the items can just be found in game. Performance issues can be ironed out. Elden Ring had performance issues on launch as well. Haven't heard about things really being broken and buggy (unless tied to performance issues). A lot of bad reviews are from people who played for less than an hour and didn't realize that you don't have to spend $2 to customize your character, you can do that in game without paying for it.
@@huyle-ob8rg Fair enough. Just depends on systems. Some people seem to have the game working fine, and others don't. It's still a problem though, and it should be fixed. I imagine they're fixing it now.
Had it pre-ordered and was super excited to play today. This was supposed to be my goty. Just found out theres only 1 save file. So if i mess up a quest theres no way for me to make a new file and start again.
@@enema_myanemones598 Yeah that's a lie. The moron who started spreading that didn't disable his own steam cloud save and then was like "OMG CAPCOM HAS MY CHARCTER IN THE CLOUD I CAN'T DELETE IT" literally user error turned into a fuss.
Been a Dragons Dogma evangelist since the day the game came out and was overshadowed by bigger releases. It's kinda crazy to see this once underground, beloved gem skyrocket to being in the same arena of Elden Ring. I didn't even think we would ever get a sequel 2 years ago.
@@FightinCowboy For sorc and mage can you explain? Other than mage healing, which is basically just short 1 ability from DD1. Playing those two classes feels like shit to me.
Sorcs now have a rapid stamina regen built into their kit, a charge attack, fast casting, and levitate. This is just their base kit outside of their 4 abilities.
Maybe it will a masterpiece after they fix the performance. It can't play it and enjoy it. I would happily played a DD2 with DD1 graphics if the story is good. 5900x, rtx 3080, 1440p, fps all over the place 30-60fps with stutter.

Hey, like the 47 and 66 year old guy, I'm a 204 year old progenitor and all I can say is this game is a complete Victory Royale for Capcom's grubby little hands.
How's the performance? I'm seeing a lot of videos covering it but is it really that bad? Did the latest nvidea driver help? Hopefully they patch it if it is
Any clarification if vocation still affect stats when leveling up? Was under the impression this mechanic is scrapped but a recent video from Ragegaming claims it still matters, just to a small extent
The game is not that great in its current state. Very poor performance in cities no matter how good your rig is, the quests are just downright unforgivably bad, the saving system is very awkward since you need to save so often due to quest breaking bugs and not knowing if or how to do a quest until you either fail or else do it completely wrong and break it. Stealth quests when there is no stealth mechanic in the game. If you look at this game objectively, it is not very good. The only good thing about this game is the combat and the exploration, the rest is very poorly done and feels half baked at best.
@bercl Nah, I play on a really beefy PC so I doubt it's going to cause any issues. The game play sounds solid and the story sounded good, I can survive it being unoptimized thanks to my PC specs.
@@randomnobody9229 I’m pretty sure he said it was a better version of the previous one. I like it, I think it’s a decent game. Of course not as good as the main soulsborne games by Fromsoftware.

I do appreciate the in-depth review of the in-game content, but i feel like this review may be a little off. I also understand that while you may not have run into many (if any) crashes, there are loads of people that have. I'm glad that you can look past the performance issues but a lot of people cannot as 60fps should be an achievable feat to reach for any game released in the 21st century by this point. Maybe early review copies did not convey these points either, but given the fact that there is only one character you can make in the game coupled with the $40+ micro-transactions in a fully priced single-player game that is not mentioned in this reveiw is kind of egregious. Calling it GOTY is kind of high praise for a game that stands at Mostly Negative reviews on Steam at the time of writing this comment.
I have a 4090 and this game runs like ass... we need to stop looking past these unoptomized releases and hold these companies accountable. Im over the whole " they'll fix it later" i feel like optimzation needs to hold more weight in reviews just like gameplay does.
Alright, I was really hyped for this game, but saw something abput microtransactions completly ruining this game. What is the scale of the mtx and the character creation situation? Are they cosmetic, can they be obtained vy playing as well? Just need a clear straight answer since I can't find any real info.
Most MTX are all acquirable in game, although in varying amounts of limited, the real issue here is performance, you need quite the pc if you intend to play this game at 60, forget anything above that, especially in cities.
Micro transactions are dumb but there’s 0 need to purchase rift coins bc of how many you get in game, wake stones are purposefully rare bc they want the game to be hard and just don’t fuck up your character creation. A lot of games don’t let you customize character about making it anyway. Performance isn’t as bad as people say. They’re just trying to run the game at 60+ frames with high settings on 1440. I have a 2060 and ryzen 5 3600 playing in 1080 still looks great and my frames are 50 consistently
Much like RE4 Remake, Monster Hunter, and DMC5, the microtransactions are all completely unnecessary and don’t impact the game. Afaik, all of the DLC items are just items that you can obtain in the base game.
@@The_MagicBananas wait, so you mean to tell me, you really are locked to the first character you create and if you want to change or start a nee, you have to pay 2€ and somehow ypu're justofying it by saying don't fuck up your character creation?
Does the explorable world still comprise mainly green and brown hills and woods? I loved DD1, but did grow slightly tired of the lack of variation or biomes.
Waited over 10 years for this game, yet the past week has been torture. Special Thanks to Capcom for realizing its potential & green-lighting this sequel to be made. Also Special Thanks to Hideaki Itsuno for creating such a wonderful franchise. I loved the original (bought it day-1) & this is a day-1 buy as well. :)
Fun bit of info. Itsuno got asked what he wanted to make and he said dmc5 and dd2. He also said if he didn't get to work on those he was going to quit.
Curious how you feel now that the game has released. I refunded mine after 15:00 to 20:00 crashes. The game is totally unplayable for me. And I'm not even going to get into the micro transaction c***

brother ur on twitter crying and arguing about nonsense when maybe 1% of the criticism is about misinformation. own up that they made mistakes and it’s not a great launch and has missing features that should just flat out be in the game. Performance for a majority of players according to steams hardware survey is bad. any kind of MTX people don’t like and that’s what they are upset about. that’s it man, stop trippin cuz people don’t like it. I used to love your Souls content but your on twitter just going back and forth over and over about nothing, it’s like watching a 16 year old defend their favorite thing.
Literally 90% of the hate is stemming from misinformation. The micros that everyone's hung up about? It's the deluxe edition. That's it. People are bitching about the existence of a deluxe edition full of shit you find in game and making up shit like paying for fast travel and paying for save slots. It ain't about defending my favorite thing, it's about dealing with misinformation because content creators are dealing with the fall out.
Love your content. Honest question though, did you know about the micro transactions? I’m shocked none of the pre released reviews mentioned it at all. That would be quite an omissions from the players.
It's because they came with the game on launch. And they did it probably so people don't kill the game with negative comments before launch which still happened and also they are not necessary and the game never leads you to the market ever
I was looking forward to this game, I got disappointed, I get between 20 - 30 fps on PC, and I don't want. They must have known how bad the performance were before release this game, and they still released it. Well maybe I will pick this game up on a sale farther down the line if they have patch this game, but by now.... naah. GOTY not even close
They probably didn't know, tbh. They most likely run their tests on the same devices they create the game with, at least when it comes to PC. The variability in graphics cards and CPU set-ups can lead to a lot of unpredictable issues if you play test your game on a NASA specced PC, or a multitude of PCs using the same equipment.. and then ship it out to people running other parts. It's not just them either, the newer games coming out recently have been struggling with optimization and performance, especially when using Unreal 5 or similarly constructed RT engines. People may need to upgrade to actually get the most out of these games, or the ones we'll see coming in the next several years. 16GB of RAM, 6GB VRAM and 6 cores is getting to a point where it's not enough. 32GB RAM, 10GB VRAM and 8 cores minimum is going to be required for the very-soon coming generation of games on max settings or high settings. It is what it is. I run this on a recently built i9 12th gen, 64 GB RAM and a 3070. It has almost no issues, still drops a few frames in the cities where multiple NPC schedule threads are running, but not the the extent of some other people's. They test their games on the PC's they build them on. Working with modern engines and RT can demand at least 64GB RAM to operate the engine for creation and rendering purposes.. so no, they aren't sitting here testing it thoroughly on the shit from 5 - 6 years ago. Get ready to upgrade if you keep wanting to play new release over the next few years.
Last time I was so hooked on an RPG was when Skyrim came out, the fact that the map, menu and the UI in general has that classic old school look, kind of a Runescape style, just adds to everything the game has to offer, love it
I never understood why this game got so much shit. I had such an amazing time playing on PS5 and I look forward to going back in to finish my platinum run!
OK, I am about 10 hours into this thing. Honestly, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. The combat is kind of clunky, the pawns do dumb stuff or get stuck in the environment half the time, running everywhere is tedious, get winded like every 10 seconds, the enemies are kind of monotonous - same bunch of goblins or harpies every few meters, the boss fights against large enemies are really chaotic - hard to see what's going on, especially in tight places, get thrown around everywhere, performance kind of sucks... It's not great. What am I missing?
Finally! After about 100 other videos, finally someone who shows everything you need to know in a relaxed but also very informative way! Clearly to the point, never boring or extra long! Compliment!
The world interactivity reminds me of MH, breakable walls ect. That reveal loot, new paths, mini zones, boss help and tactics that reward the keen observer
Nice game. I think the hate it got was that it is 70 dollars and then the microtransactions got waved in your face making you "feel" like you didn't buy the whole game.
@@FightinCowboy I'm here trying to make sense of why it is getting negative reviews, when the game is great. Don't defend the devs and publishers. This is why I put feel in quotations. People feel like they got ripped off when in reality it doesn't matter.
@@FightinCowboyyou'd think the steam reviewers would know which mtx's are and arent available, considering the whole list of mtx's is right on the steam page for the game. The mtx's are annoying in concept, but people really ate up the misinformation and think its a lot worse than it is.
It's all bullshit stemming from a misinformation post on steam. Micros have been in the game since launch and we're always planned. Everything that's in the micro shop you already earned in game, nothing is pay gated and clowns are making up shit to be mad because micros exist like they have in every Capcom game for the last 10 years.
@@FightinCowboy What about you literally being unable to delete your character since they store your save on a server? A single character seems like a big freaking issue. And I played DD1, I know about the free switching of vocations. Single character saves were bad there too but at least you were able to delete the savegame and start fresh. Because noone wants to infinitely grind the same character into NG+infinity, sometimes it's just more fun starting fresh.
@@FightinCowboyit still should be mentioned, specially because when you play for the first time you don't know what you can get. Capcom has done this before, and is no excuse to do it again. Yea...no, not to this level. Exactly how quickly did you get a Portcrystal and 5 wakestones in DD1? And now in DD2? Cowboy - usually love your stuff. But man dude, calling this game a masterpeice cost a lot of us out here damn near.70 bucks. I hope Capcom paid you well or you're not sick. This was one of the worst games I bought in years. Throw everything cool in the first 10 hours - do the same stuff and have the same encounters the rest of the game. If you really honestly liked this game - fine. . . But a masterpiece? Is it on par with Elden Ring - an actual masterpiece? Just going to be hard to trust your reviews in the future because this was clearly a game with many, many issues.
It might have issues, but this game had a sense of novelty that I have not experienced in an RPG in so many years. I adored this game, put in over 200 hours. Even if a game is a masterpiece, not everyone will like it, I think you just happen to fall within the group that this game is not for.
@@twistedumbrella7537 Not slamming anyone who likes the game. I've been playing RPGs since Final Fantasy 1 back in the 1980s. This game had a lot of promise and had some great ideas - but it was clearly rushed out. The combat was well done, but very very easy and you run into the same encounters over, and over again. Exploration? It may look pretty but you're basically traveling linear paths. A masterpiece is a near flawless game. A Link to a Past was a masterpiece. Super Metroid was masterpiece. Resident Evil 4 wad a masterpiece. Elden Ring was a masterpiece. This game is very far from that level and Cowboy, while he denied it, was clearly given something from Capcom. And that's fine - I just can't trust his reviews anymore. Walkthroughs are top notch though, the best on youtube.
@@seansullivan5965 I appreciate your reply, I just don't think a masterpiece has to be flawless, it might just be a difference in opinion on what a masterpiece is exactly. All those games you have listed were obviously great games, I haven't played all of them mind you, but the reason I think DD2 is a masterpiece, is that it made me feel something in a game that felt new and fresh not just for the sake of it, but something that felt like I wanted this same feeling in other games, and I have not had that feeling since I was a kid who first started playing games, I might enjoy other games more than this game, but those games did not give me that feeling. As for Cowboy being a shill for Capcom, I think he has given a reasonable defense on this, he has always made sure to mark his videos as sponsored if they are, and if he doesn't he is at risk of a major fine of several hundred thousand dollars, I also think Cowboy has shown himself to be an honest man in his time doing content, I just don't think him calling this game a masterpiece, when there are people who agree with him, is any proof at all that he is a shill. This game certainly has a lot of issues, it's short campaign being one of them, but honestly, with their previous history, it also makes me really look forward to them addressing these shortcomings with a solid DLC. I honestly adored the exploration in this game btw, boss fight after boss fight, maybe that gets boring fast for some, but I am pretty I was having fun with that for over 100 hours.
This is why nobody takes the average video gamers critiques seriously. You just arbitrary threw out names of popular games that have nothing to do with what this game is trying to be. You have no actual taste or critical framework. Not every game is made for you. That’s okay, move on.
@@twistedumbrella7537Of course a masterpiece doesn’t have to be flawless. Honestly, you are wasting your words. Most gamers don’t read let alone have the talent for critical analysis or art critique. Awesome. Is it night? Who knows! Just trying to get to an area but every 2 minutes you are attack? Well, you'll love this one, because it's pretty much night all the time so try just about 1 minute every fight? Awesome right? Oh and remember not to die, because if you die, you have to go back to the last time you slept. Which could be a never, never long time ago. Incredible. It sucks. Love it? Good for you.
With launch there's a lot of misinformation going around surrounding the MTX so here's my thoughts:
1) Reviewers were aware of the MTX beforehand, they weren't stealthed in.

That's on you for playing from a laptop, you can't expect to meet the same standards as a beefed out PC lol.
Yeah. Nothing really captures my imagination from watching this. Looks very Vanilla. Maybe you had to play the first one.
Yes yes yes...
This will be my first PS5 game.
Really excited 😎👍
I would probably wait too see how performance is before buying it on console, unless 30fps is fine.
@menaceiwill1 30fps is fine for me.
Sometimes it's about the adventure rather than the physics 😎👍
I’m about 20 hours in with mostly exploration. I liked the first DD a lot. I just can’t keep from thinking they missed a huge opportunity in excluding multiplayer/coop, even if limited.
Luke stephens ran this on this computer, ps5, lower end pcs and he answered the performance. He was seeing drops from 70 fps to the 20s in cities. A lot of pop in and loading of npcs in cities from 20 feet away, etc. Might get patched. He shows footage of it
No worries bro, the game is a masterpiece according to this title
Idk about this one. I bought it cause of the hype but the camera feels awful in this game. Only one save file is actually insane in 2024. Haven't had too many performance issues but now they're introducing microtransactions in an $80 game?
Just don't buy the micro transactions. Simple

This is the most casual review
I played the demo and the world just feels empty and bland. The characters have no depth and non energetic. Enemy types seem very lacking for a vast open world. The combat, character creation and pawn system are amazing but this game is just missing so much. This sequel feels more like they just remade the original by adding better texture models and graphical upgrades. Also, the towns and castle areas feel empty and flat. Doesnt feel like a true sequel. I was gonna buy it but i may just wait for Monster Hunter Wilds or when DD2 is like $20-$30 on a sale.

37% Positive Steam Reviews go brrrrrr
@@FightinCowboy Didn't you say on the new video that you had to make a new Steam account to be able to start the game over again?
Saved my cash, thankfully
@@mokadelic4037 Most likely.
The most important question is, where can we find your official pawn in game. Is it a random location, or it has dedicated spot?
In the rift

Judging from Steam reviews this game is a complete dumpster fire of a release. Micro transactions in a single player game, terrible performance issues, extremely buggy and broken…
Glad I’m waiting this one out.

Been a Dragons Dogma evangelist since the day the game came out and was overshadowed by bigger releases. It's kinda crazy to see this once underground, beloved gem skyrocket to being in the same arena of Elden Ring. I didn't even think we would ever get a sequel 2 years ago.
If DD DA didn't exist I too would think this game was a masterpiece. Until you play mage/sorc and you notice you only have 4 skill slots. Nice.
4 slots are irrelevant when half the kit of the old classes has been baked into our core skills
@@FightinCowboy I wouldn't take any of those abilities over a 5th real skill.

Hopefully they patch it if it is
DLSS makes it ok imo but it'll need some patches so I can get 144goodness.
@@FightinCowboy im running a 13700k and 4090 so hopefully that keeps me above 60 at least until the patches fix some stuff.
Any clarification if vocation still affect stats when leveling up? Was under the impression this mechanic is scrapped but a recent video from Ragegaming claims it still matters, just to a small extent
No it doesn't at all
The game is not that great in its current state.
This review dissuaged all my fears
are u not concerned about the performance after what he said? lol
@bercl Nah, I play on a really beefy PC so I doubt it's going to cause any issues. The game play sounds solid and the story sounded good, I can survive it being unoptimized thanks to my PC specs.

Not slamming anyone who likes the game.

I'm 1000 years old and you inspired me to play this game. My main pawn is called " thick anime milf" and I'm currently looking for an all nude female mod. Thank you for always helping me to achieve my dreams
19:28 what res you playing at ? I assume 4k ? Also running a 13900k/4090 at 4k so curious......cant see ps5 matching spec wise visually, might be native 4k but not with all the bells and whistles, ill happily tweak settings, just need a solid 60fps no drops imo
Yes
@@FightinCowboy Short but sweet lol
I'm pretty sure console is locked at 30?
With the lack of fast travel and the suspicion that the quests and story will be boring, I am unfortunately skipping this game until it's on sale.
I think it will be a masterpiece when they fix it. Ill wait to buy it until it works
only review i care about, always a detailed reviewer who has passion for games
!SPOILERS!
When you get to 'Act 4', is sucks.
You died? Oh well, you can only go back to the last time you slept, oh and you can not camp, great right?
Oh you have already heard about a quest because you died and now have to do in again? Well if you try to skip the dialogue, you don't get the quest, great right? Oh and you cannot talk to them again!
