Hi Todd! It was nice meeting you the other day at Lake Lodge. I really enjoyed this video and those beautiful views from the top! I'm glad you didn't attempt that very dangerous last part! Stay safe & we look forward to your next video 😀
I really enjoyed that video. I was going to say to you " how-do-you-do all that" without dropping your phone and then bam down you went. So glad you didn't get hurt and didn't do the peak. Thanks again.
Did the right thing turning around and conquering it another day. Too many mountaineers and climbers take unnecessary chances and risks that end up in rescues or body recovery’s. Keep killing the videos🍻🍻.
no doubt Dude your a you tube bad ass...man i love your productions ..doing real good ..your subscribers should multiply real quick..keep doing your productions.if you want..i just think you should go big on subscribers..go park junkie go......🖐
Found this channel recently and I love it! The landscape is fabulous and your line of thinking here is great- thanks for sharing these great escapes and your rational approach to the park. 🥾🥾😎
Very impressive hike PJ. I was up above Gardiner (Jardine) today filming the work being done on the old road to Mammoth. The Yellowstone River is still pretty blown out downstream throughout Paradise Valley. Hoping for some relief soon to be able to raft and fish.
We're so glad you made that choice and didn't risk a disaster. We'd be lost without your periodic explorations. By the way, have you ever had a dangerous fall?
I'm very glad to see Park Junkie isn't stupid. Well, not totally stupid, lol. Great video, even if you didn't get to the top, views were spectacular. As Harry put it, a man's *got* to know his limitations. Mine probably ended at that loose rock field, since I've found out that if you go up it, you probably have to come back down on it. And that was only 3 1/2 minutes in. 😁
What a beautiful hike! Glad you chose not to navigate that sketch snow. Couldn't help but wonder how we thought sliding Avalanche wearing Garbage bags was a good idea.
So happy for your decision! I'm currently reading Death in Rocky Mountain National Park. I saw just the beginning of this video and was like...Noooo don't do it!!
Great video and good call to not go forward. I was curious how long it took you up and back. Are you holding your camera the whole time? Also, you said the trail is not a marked trail. How do you know where you parked? Really enjoying your channel!
Right!?! It was sketchy out there... too much. I found a way another day... Almost got taken out by a bear that time... Top-Notch turned out to be a top notch problem... 😳 th-cam.com/video/D1YinWx3XQc/w-d-xo.html
Sure, it's disappointing to get all the way up there and not being able to make it to the summit. It's always good to keep in mind what Ed Viesturs said: “Getting to the top is optional. Getting down is mandatory.” The mountain will be there tomorrow and the day after that...
Yes, I climbed Rainier once with Ed, as he used to be a guide for RMI. As you suggest, the one thing I took away from that climb: “The ascent is optional, but the descent is mandatory “… Truth from the master…
@@theparkjunkie yup, that was you we saw. My 16 year old son and I did Avalanche Peak because I watched you hike there. We pulled up and I said “look at this guy going over that log, I wouldn’t do that”. 😬
@@theparkjunkie I was talking more about balancing on the log crossing that river. Avalanche Peak was my son's favorite part of the trip and I found the hike on your channel so thanks. Your reopening information was also real helpful. Planned this trip 1 year ago and didn't want to cancel. We had a great time and made great memories with my son during the hikes.
Some times the you get the bear, and some times the bear gets you. Oh, and have you heard of any thing odd happening, or people spotting strange critters? Just curious, stay safe.
@@theparkjunkie Your hikes are impressive and the video of the south loop was a great representation of the park's features. You should consider working in YNP in the winter. It is a whole different world. BTW, wife and I have visited the park 23 times including 3 times in winter. Unfortunately the crowds and cost have have both gone way up. Saw 4 buses from the road at a feature and just drove on by on our last extended visit. Keep the shiny side up, but keep on filming!
Awesome views! Thank you 😊 like you said there is always another day!
never get tired of your adventures in the park. great views . thanks for sharing
Park junkie. You rock. Smart decision.
Your decision was excellent. Some people wouldn't be smart enough to have made the wise choice that you did. Beautiful commentary and pictures.
CAN'T TELL YOU HOW GRATEFUL FOR A FULL TOUR!!!!!!
Ohh my WOW 😱 Now, that looks so dangerous but if anybody can do it's you, The park junkie. ♥️
I really enjoy vicariously through you and your adventures. YNP is my favorite. Thanks for sharing!!
Smart Move Sir, if more people would learn, that "If you Play Stupid Games you Win Stupid Prizes". Keep up the great work
I'm glad you didn't risk it, appreciate you posting this video and explaining why you didn't risk it, tells us a lot about how smart you are!
Love the video. Good call on the decision. Enjoy watch all the videos you make. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent advice…safety…know your threshold…responsibility in the wilderness! ❤️ preach it! Dude great video.

Thanks Nicole, great to meet you too! Cheers
@@theparkjunkie We drove up the Tower-Canyon Road today and it was sooo beautiful! p.s. it's Cliff & Lisa 🙂

wow, some of those views where you were looked incredibly steep! thanks for another great video park junkie!
You made the right decision!
Incredible views😍👌🏻greetings from saxony...
Loved this climb! I felt like I went along the hike too. Please be safe and keep the exploration videos coming!!!!!

awesome video. I have done Avalanche a few times in early 90s, when I worked at Canyon and Grant. Great hike, thanks for the videos!

Great video of you climbing Top Notch peak
25:35 The parking lot, always a welcome sight at the end of an arduous hike. 😀
Another great video, you have an awesome life, god bless, be safe.
Thanks 👍

The reality of it is , you tell it like it is . I kept thinking as you where going up , what kind of route are you going to take to get down. 👍😊

Thanks for the vid, Bro.

Oh, well that was a good idea!… at the time… 🥴
@@theparkjunkie so many things that were "good ideas" at the time have me scratching my head wondering how I made it to 55 in one piece, lol.

Camera is my phone, yep, hold it 99% of the time… This was a ridge & the road was always at the bottom of the ridge.
The first time I looked down at snow in August was so bizarre to me.
Did the right thing by turning back
Very impressive to hike up a mountain without any trail.
Whoa that was crazy! Glad you didn’t do it that day. We wanna see more adventures haha.

Beautiful scenery question what do you take for protection from wildlife,
Bear spray
@@theparkjunkie thank you . I don't travel and I love you videos I have learnt so much what mountains are like. 👍
Good call
Great vid. We're going to be there soon. What is a good peak for a novice? Or, does that exist?
Avalanche! The snow is mostly gone now... Here's what it looked like three weeks ago...

PJ, Don't get "gored by the bull" like a stupid tourist. Good decision making. Live to climb another day!
Oh post hauling it I say not much fun
No, it’s not… but I do believe it to be a most-effective method of physical conditioning… 😳
plz be careful when ur around snow blocks and mountains like that 👍🎶🎶🗿🗿
Love your videos, but Absaroka is pronounced "ab-SOHR'-kuh." Don't mean to be fussy, but....
🤔 Well, I may need to adjust that… I do still call Hurricane “Hurr-i-cane” while most folks call it “Hur-cun”… 🤷♂️
