    Hey Minimal Fam♥️! What are some items that are sneaky clutter for you? Let us know 👇🏽

      Sneaky clutter for me would be socks. My children's socks!! 🤦‍♀️

      I have hundreds of thousands of books. I store them all at my local library.😁

    That is exactly me!!
    I would rather just give it to someone who can use it, than go through the hassle of posting & trying to sell it.

      @@TheArmsteadFamily every other week in our town is bulk pick up for trash, so it's very easy for me to put stuff out and just write free on a piece of paper. People drive through in the evenings and take what they need.

    I totally agree with gallery walls! I can’t stand a bunch of small things on any surface, walls included.

      Yes! It can really become visually overwhelming... taking away from that peaceful aspect for the home 🏡

    Yes you guys are so right about the magnets. I am so glad Zion didn’t eat it, but so many kids do, and if they eat 2 that pinch their intestines together it can be life threatening. When we had our first baby the pediatrician told me to get rid of anything with a button cell battery, all choking hazards like magnets and chemicals like cleaning products. It caught me off guard- I figured putting things up high or in locking cabinets would be fine- but she was completely serious. She was like, “ none of those things are worth the risk and she was totally right. We pretty much just cleaned everything with dish soap and it was fine. And fewer things to worry about as a new mom.

    I had so much baby stuff (stroller, bassinet, diapers, etc) that I no longer needed, cluttering the garage, and I gave it all away on "Buy Nothing" instead of selling it. Made my life easier and I was able to alleviate stress for other parents (baby stuff isn't cheap), which goes a long way!

    I love this, I am realizing so many things they have just said. Love the show thing and have to work on my clothe. I keep telling myself I have less than most people I know. But in reality I don't use 75% of my clothes and even more so the shoes. Congrats to you both.

    Yep, I have those donation items on the floor of my closet. I have been meaning to drop them off at our Goodwill, but you reminded me to do so. Thank you.
    Also, linen closet and night tables. The clutter and disorganization drives me crazy.

      Goodwill is NOT a nonprofit organization. They are actually for profit, and I have noticed the prices have creeped up. Try the Salvation Army, Housing Works, a Museum or Hospital Thrift shop.

    • @karenfisher5274

      UPDATE> My declutttered items went to an Animal Aid Thrift Shop. Their store also has a component for me to donate sheets and towels for their no kill shelters. Please tone down and refrain from lecture on these places. I am well aware of them. My local Salvation Army is so far away and does not do pickup.

    I'm going to do the sheet idea from your other video. We have a bunch and they just sit there. There's like 3 I prefer. I'm going to keep 2-3 per bed and get rid of the rest.
    I agree with the kids clothes. Highly recommend. I do this already. I go through their clothes every six months. I donate any that they grow out of.

    I hate wall signs!!!!!!!! It cluttered up my visual field. Prefer mirrors and plants, and a few personal photos.
    I have moved all excess (3) mugs into the cabinet saved for company. The ones hanging are for our everyday use.

    Same, my mum even tells me that it's better to have a few large decor pieces, rather than many small pieces (they're harder to clean). We have two huge paintings in our living room that are painted by local artists (we've had them for 8ish years now, still love looking at them).
    I give my best friend clothes I've never worn or only worn once. She loves it because it's professional clothes that she can wear to work. I do the same with my kids clothes. I've only kept one piece of their clothing, the one each of them came home in (displayed in shadow boxes in each of their rooms). It's easy for me to get rid of items because I take a picture of them to invoke the memory, instead of having the physical thing cluttering up my space.

    I have a few bits on our walls but I try to keep them in muted colours so they aren’t in your face. Hubby wanted photos etc up and down the stairs but I got my way. Nothing going along that wall. It would be too much!

      @@TheArmsteadFamily he’s been moaning I’m throwing all his stuff away when I organised his home office a few days ago 😂😂😂 I told him I’m literally throwing away obvious rubbish. I also put like things together & made a home for everything. The things I wasn’t sure about, I asked him. I told him that he doesn’t see everything of mine that I declutter 😜

    I just found your videos and I like how u guys are a team, I’ve been de cluttering for almost 6 months, unfortunately a couple weeks ago I got a 30 day notice from landlord so I got to get rid of some of my furniture and some sentimental items, but its not easy 😞any advice would appreciate it

    • @TheArmsteadFamily
      @TheArmsteadFamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Aww thank you Santi.. and Wow that is crazy, I’m sorry that is happening. This is a really tough one. If it were us, I would look at the furniture that you rarely use, but you just “kinda” like. We had to get rid of our dresser that we never used but looked nice in our room before we moved last. I made the decision to get rid of my trophies as well before we moved last because I knew I had brought them for 3 moves and I don’t think I ever took them out of storage. It was hard, but I literally don’t miss them and I’m at peace with that. You might be able to do the same with some stuff that you haven’t really touched or looked at and either take pictures of them for memories or keep only a small portion of it. Let’s say a photo album, instead of 100 pictures, choose 10.

    • @sct4040
      @sct4040 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use a smartphone, you can take photos of your sentimental items before donating. I had put "free" signs on furniture before discarding and people actually took them really quickly. Time to let go of all the clothes you don't wear or cannot fit into. I donated all my work clothes, jackets and dress pannot worn for 15-20 years.
      Sell Coach, MK, RL handbags on ThredUP (if they are in excellent condition, they go quickly and for 50% of what I paid for them). Good luck on your move, maybe you can ask for an extension?

    I love all your tips!! I have been starting to gather a lot of stuff I plan to donate....I really want to donate to a homeless shelter versus a Goodwill. But with Covid they have temporarily stopped taking donations. Where does your family like to donate too? Have you been having issues donating with Covid?

    • @TheArmsteadFamily
