  • Working on the Sawsmahaul office/shop area just off the inside of the Norwood Sawmill. This is going to be an epic off grid sawmill when it's all done!
I build a sawmill shed out of lumber from the forest! I try to keep costs for the shed super cheap by re-using as much materials as I can, and sourcing materials from the forest around me. I use both milled woods, and many dead standing trees to make a structure that will keep my portable sawmill free of snow, ice, and rain. That way, I can use my sawmill year round without having to worry about the weather.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

For me, the ideas in th-cam.com/users/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

also as a Chef for over 20yrs, it greatly depends on the type of steak, however in my opinion, for Ribeye, Strip, and Sirloin you want it about an Inch thick, if properly cleaned and whatnot, should give you about a 16oz Ribeye, 14oz Strp, and 12oz Sirloin. As for T-Bones/Porterhouse, btw the way reason that little side is so delicious is because it is the Filet part of the cow, the other side of the bone is the Strip, about 3/4ths an inch, and Filets you want about 2in thick. The reasoning behind all of these is because when you cook them it allows you to have a gradient from rare to well done, if the steak is to thin, they will cook very quickly but to have a steak look rare, it won't actually be up to temperature.

37:11 the longest side of your t-bone is New York strip, the reason you love the small side is, it's a tenderloin aka filet mignon.
    1 1/4" for tenderloin.

I'm thinking just under 2.5 hours of actual application time for the grout job?
Looks amazing though!!! With the garage doors..fancy.
Depends on the cut...skirt steak is thin 1/2 inch, 1.27 cm, and Rib eye thick up to 2 inch, or 5.08 cm on vertical grained meat.

I would suggest 2 mods to the log dolly. 1st use it on your 3pt instead of a hitch so you can lift the 3pt to attach the log, then have a tie chair on the front to keep it true forward. 2 cents.

I just thought of a cool project. You have a lot of pine and cedar stumps, which you can process to extract pine tar which you can use as a wood stain/weather proofing.
You literally just need a big air tight metal container you can fill with chopped up pine roots, then bake on a fire while sealed. Ideally with a tap at the bottom to collect the pine tar.
You can also use it as lamp oil for light and heat. It would be awesome if you could run a generator off it too, but it would probably require more refining to get a purer fuel.
