This is one of only 2 duels I think in the yugioh anime where it could be classified as a villain vs villain duel. The only other one I can think of is Bakura vs Marik in the original series

You maybe technically could count Vector vs Durabe/Merag and/or Nasch to be bad guy duels since they were all dead set on fighting Yuma and the good guy team when Vector went after them
Yubel having a hand destruction at the moment where literally any other card wouldn't have been an out is peak anime duel. Dude was outplayed by Adrian the entire time.
Adrian was nothing more than a cocky arrogant pathetic little punk who was pretending to be something he’s not. Adrian should’ve known that Yubel would have counter measures for his Exodia deck. After what he did to Eco Adrian definitely deserved his defeat.
Adrian is messed up for sure, I think his exodia deck was over powered tho, he literally opens with 4 pieces and his top deck is the 5th... like what?! so undeserved!
Even so, he came closer to defeating Yubel than most of Yubel’s opponents put together, and was actually probably the only one to not only make Yubel sweat, but downright panic as well. Even Yubel’s Hand of Destruction from the Nightmare Shuffle card was pretty much pure luck.
One of my favourite duels! It’s always cool seeing a villain vs villain battle/duel. The whole duel was great, but honestly? The highlight of it in my opinion was Yubel literally summoning herself to the field! It was honestly something I didn’t realize we needed, because we rarely see Yubel in her own physical form, usually either possessing other people, or in her pre-transformed stasis before she recovered her own body. Yubel summoning herself and speaking through her summoning, in her physical form while simultaneously possessing Jesse, that was just a huge flex if I ever seen it from a Yugioh villain 😈 It was also a powerful reminder of how much of a terrifyingly powerful presence Yubel really has 😈 You knew Adrian was screwed after that. But I gotta give Adrian mad props. He might be a megalomaniacal prick, but the man can duel 👑 Adrian is probably the only duelist who not only made Yubel sweat, but genuinely panic. Adrian had backup plans for his backup plans, and if it wasn’t Lady Luck surprisingly favouring Yubel, I’m pretty sure Adrian would’ve won. Yubel literally could’ve ended up setting any other random card from her graveyard, and she had at least half a dozen spells or traps, and if it wasn’t Hand of Destruction, she’d be toast. That was the moment where the literally only thing that saved Yubel the duel was Lady Luck’s favour.
Adrian seriously needs to learn that no matter how much we want to no matter how hard we try we can’t change the past. Adrian will always be haunted by the sins of his past he is beyond redemption and beyond forgiveness if I were Eco I would never ever forgive him. Adrian deserves to live a life in isolation and he deserves to be alone perhaps that will teach him a lesson.
Honestly, this guy Adrian has a totally broken deck. I'm starting to doubt how would someone like Jaden (a better duelist on paper) be able to defeat Exodius. What exactly could he play? This is crazy.

If “he” was able to return home by the following season, I assume Adrian was free from Yubel’s prison too, but was left in one of the alternate dimensions, where Adrian would preferably stay.

Adrien should have won, Yubel using hand destruction and such was like he sided against an exodia deck, and he still almost lost like twice over. I LOVE This duel
It appeared as if Adrian had a part of Exodia with 200 ATK vs Yubel's 100 LP. Yubel's field was completely empty too. He could've just attacked with a piece of Exodia but was too obsessed with using Exodia's effect that he didn't want to put a piece of it on the field

They are but also they aren't. I mean the Egyptian god cards have narrative purpose and the phantom trio were just a mcguffin, even the effects were radically different and dont truly mirror the god cards except for really basic stuff like raviel symbolizing power like obelisk, hamon symbolizing separation between divine and mortal and uria symbolizing judgement but even that is loose connection.
@ true, if he had a monster to summon. But he was done to one card, which was magical mallet, thus he used Fog Castle’s retrieval effect which also required discarding the hand. And if he had a monster with a burn effect, he could’ve used that to get around the skip battle phase cost of the castle with Yubel down to 100 . But since he didn’t have any in the graveyard, Exodia was pretty much the only option.
Adrian would've lost if Yubel attacked with Armityle to deal 10,000 damage due to the anime effect. Adrian would've lost back then. But instead Yubel decided to use the removal instead which ppl can consider bs, but that's ho goes in anime.

The way that is worded given the time frame, it was an effect that "targeted" the monster to apply the effect to, which EUFL couldn't be "targeted" by said effect
Adrian could’ve beaten yubel, on his 2nd turn if he attacked hamon instead of uria he would’ve stopped yubel from summoning armatyle and beat her on his next turn
The fact that Yubel/Jesse had that hand is more disgusting than Zane and Kaiba always having 3 Cyber Dragon/Blue Eyes in their starting hands. Yubel had all 3 sacred beast cards in his hand on top of the exact combo of cards with the 3 spells 3 traps and 3 tokens to summon them all. Does no one shuffle their decks?
They do, but these anime duels are all scripted by a group of writers who don't care too much about how unlikely it is to open with a hand like that. All yugioh series are made to sell the card game. The writers will always prioritize spectacle over logic
I’m honestly surprised he didn’t include the head in his starting hand. If he included the head instead of his spell card, he’d have all 5 parts of Exodia, and he would’ve won before the duel even started.
If I was Adrian, I wouldn't have told him how Exodious endgame effect work because I don't have to explain it to my opponent so they won't get an idea for a counter

That’s weird. Cause I remember watching both the first episode of Yubel and Adrian’s duel, as well as the second episode, when I was a kid and it was on TV while it was airing. It’s been a long time though, so my memory could be a little hazy. After all, Yubel gave a quick recap during the beginning of the Jaden vs Yubel duel.
I’m pretty sure he was free from Yubel’s prison, like Jaden’s friends were once Jaden fused himself and Yubel together. But unlike Jaden’s friends, Adrian was probably left in the Duel Spirit world where Adrian intended to rule.

Adrian would have won this duel 10 times over with the amount of asspulls Yubel was doing with her cards. Hand Destruction sends 2 cards to the grave, not 4 (plus Yubel would need to have 4 cards in hand as well), and if we ignore the dumb roundabout way Exodius was removed from play, the amount of dumb luck it would take to grab your one copy of Hand Destruction from the Graveyard amongst the 13 other cards already there is just plain obnoxious. At the end of the day there was no way Adrian was winning this game, but at least they could have made it less luck dependent and more a display of raw skill/power

Since Grinder Golem in Attack Position, Yubel force Golem to attack her while she in Attack Position, when Grinder Golem attacks, Yubel effects activates, Inflict damage equal of it's ATK, 2nd and 3rd effect of Yubel, she isn't destroyed and she didn't take any battle damage. Since Grinder Golem ATK is 3000 when attack on Yubel and triggers it's effects, Adrian take the same damage from Golem ATK. (Adrian 1800 -> 0)
Adrian won yubel cheated twice yubel summoned the 3rd secret beast when yubel already normal summoned that turn and when yubel used hand destruction a 2nd time to draw a extra card when yubel had zero cards in hand yubel shouldnt have been able to draw there
Summoning Raviel through sacrificing SPECIFICALLY 3 Fiend type monsters is a Special Summon. The card even says so. Just tributing 3 random cards of any sort wouldn’t suffice in summoning Raviel. There’s specific special conditions in summoning Raviel, and it needs to be Fiend type monsters. It counts as a Special Summon. As for the Hand of Destruction, that wasn’t through cheating. Just very, VERY lucky.
All Sacred Beast are cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, they are must Special Summon by following conditions, Yubel play fair and square to Special Summons all 3 Sacred Beasts.
Yubel had 5 cards left from her hand cause Triangle Force spell effects is triggers on her deck. Technically, since Adrian used the final effect of the Fog Castle field spell - he couldn't go into the Battle Phase that turn.
